  1. I'd like to see this 2 million Hfd Council are going to get from Govt  used to install proper cycle lanes & not this facical attempt at doing so by painting silly white lines.
Apart from the dangerous lane dividing and 20ft long bus lane on the other side of Commercial Road the pic below to me is an attempt to have as many cyclists as possible hit and maimed by oncoming vehicles.

Think you're being a little hard on the local council when these directives came from London. Damned if they do and damed if they don't.

Look at the massive overspend and unacceptable money that went on the Blue School St fiasco and the road to nowhere ! That was the previous administration, nobody is giving any of this a chance, at least this council are listening and making changes

Yep, 2 million was taking the P......I don't get the road to nowhere, please elabotate.

Just the latest in a seemingly endless stream of sites that have been trumpeted, but absolutely no action. £15m handed over so far and really not much to show for it, except the 14 bed Miller Court (guide price £1.85m).

G and D are part of Jewsons, but the restricted Canal Road access is ridiculous for what is a distribution centre for heavy building goods. They both should have been encouraged to the edge of town.

Have a clearer picture on this today with a comment that they are actually taking over part of Jewsons yard.
Also heard a local family are about to submit a planning app for the empty Prezzo unit on the old market and a rumour of Beefy Boys taking an interst in Franky & Bennys.

The money isn't coming from Bellwin because it didn't flood and it's not coming from Government because Mr Wiggin didn't follow through on his promise. It's coming directly from our pockets. I looked at the site last week - it's all tarmaced and finished but the road is still closed because there are now ground investigation works 100m up the road - get's what's coming next ...

They found some serious cracks in two walls after being inspected. Both walls are being taken down and rebuilt.....Probably at a cost of a million knowing BBLP.:Hmm:

The Prime Minister arrived in Hereford early this morning at Hereford County Hospital and said he can see how extra funding is helping them build new wards and prepare for winter as the government pledges an additional funding of £300m for NHS England.

The PM also gave his approval of Herefordshire Council temporary traffic scheme making the city safer for both pedestrians and cyclists and has made additional funding of up to £2 million available in order to support the scheme.

Mr Johnson also supports a much needed bypass for the city.

His words were something like you have no infrastructure to grow, you need a by pass.

  6. Just to show the width of the path down here to show it does not need one lane being turned into a cycle lane.
The problem here if reduced to one lane will be traffic backing up around the roundabout causing huge tailbacks. If they do go ahead with this then the traffic lights on the roundabout will need to be switched off but I think its a safe bet this won't go ahead judging by the massive backlash with the Bridge St fiasco.

Being a time served cyclist I am very much in favour of better cycling provision. I am also used to coping with traffic.

One of the Council's changes is to introduce a cycle lane on Blueschool Street and Newmarket Street - this in principle is good as it is dodgy for cyclists along there.

But what happens for cyclists at the Tesco roundabout - Unless I have missed something - bugger all as far as I can see. So you have to take your chance and it is really quite dangerous.

Why have a cycle lane on Bridge Street when the Old Bridge is closed to vehicles

And as TWG pointed out elsewhere what about St Owens Street?

This is just poorly thought out

Keen cyclist here too AV.Don't you think the path alongside the Old Market is big enough for a cycle lane anyway.
I'm all for cycle lanes and safer roads for pedestrians but the utter shambles in Bridge St & Broad St is just appalling. No thought gone into any part of it and no consultation with local businesses. It's quite simply a rush job.

I said at the time that I felt the bull should of been put into the OLD MARKET  shopping area, as it represents the cattle market and I still feel the same. I am surprised it still in High Town over the years it was been climbed on by adults  at one time it had red paint poured over it.

It was put in High Town way before the Old Market was built Glenda & I also remenber you saying it looked like a Spanish Bull too :Winky:

We do not publish national news articles very often and would prefer to keep our network for Herefordshire however, because of all the hard work already done in trying to contain the virus and the dedication from the NHS and other key workers, we felt compelled to post this article because if people continue to ignore the guidelines we may end up with a second wave.

We have all seen the pictures of thousands of people flocking to the beaches this week across the UK during this period of hot weather. Bournemouth beach was a classic example and a major incident was declared yesterday after thousands ignored health advice, with widespread anti-social behaviour, gridlocked roads and huge crowds on the hottest day of the year.

Bournemouth East MP Tobias Elwood said 500,000 visitors were in Dorset yesterday – almost as many people as living in the county.

Maybe Bournemouth council should take some responsibility here for not putting social distancing measures in place...But people should equally be responsible for their own actions.

We should look at other countries to see how they are creating safer beach environments for the public.

This is a brilliant example of how they should apply social distancing at Jesolo Beach in Italy

Fake news about Jesolo beach. It's always been like this way before Covid 19 pandemic.
