Hereford Magistrates Court has upheld Herefordshire Council’s decision to shutdown a food premises in Ledbury.

On the evening of 3 December 2015 council officers undertook a routine unannounced inspection of the Paradise Balti & Tandoori on Bye Street in Ledbury. The case officer considered that an infestation of cockroaches there posed an imminent risk to health and, as required under the food hygiene regulations, officers therefore served an emergency prohibition notice on the premises and arranged a hearing at Hereford Magistrates Court. On Monday 7 December the magistrates heard this case and after careful consideration signed a formal closing order to shut down the takeaway with immediate effect with costs of £500 being awarded to Herefordshire Council.
