  1. Why should she resign?

Just to be clear, Labour didn't win

    Corbyn still opposion.jpg

She ran a terrible campaign but I don't think it's the right time for her to go yet.

Corbyn on the other hand has done a rather good job in gain more seats for Labour it just goes to show how out of touch our elected representatives are time for them to get real.

Unfortunately that total toss pot Bill Wiggins increased his majority which means he will be doing diddly sqwat apart from fiddling his expensive again how our north Herefordshire cousins can keep electing this despicable moron time & time again is unbelievable?!

  2. I'm not shocked because freedom as we know it is at a end although we in the west are constantly being told that we are the free world so we must not let those who wish to destroy democracy & freedom prevail!…but what happens when it is your own elected representatives who are doing this?

So the truth is we are not free not truly free but the little freedom we do enjoy today will be gone in 5years all done with your willingness & consent because you believe in the lies our masters are peddling us!

Western values are no different to any other ideology…the sole objective is the control of & subjugation of the masses. in the end it's just the conditioning radicalization which is different it's slower but you you can be sure you are being groomed, conditioned, watched, monitored radicalized so as to become hysterical enough to just handover your freedom freely!

  3. Of course they were known to police,

Yes I know victor so how is it they are able to carry out these attacks now?…we have had 3 in as many months but nothing in this country since the London bombings 7/7 apart from Lee Rigby if my memory serves me right?!

  4. Try telling that to the victims and their families.

Why have you spoken with them & thats what they want all police to have firearms?

Even if members of my family or friends had been killed or injured I still would not want all the police to have guns that' was my opinion before this attack & it has not changed.

What I find interesting is during these elections we have had 2 attacks yet in France they had none during there elections? it would also appear that these attackers were known to our police beforehand?!

  5. Try telling that to the copper's family who was murdered outside Parliament last month and to the copper that was attacked last night.

I'm sorry but as a policeman he would have know the risks it's unfortunate that he lost his life but I don't believe arming all of our police will solve the problem as those committing these acts of terrorism don't care if they die also their main targets are civilians not so much the police or military.

  6. I will not agree to arming ALL Police Officers in the UK - my reasoning is based on the " Troubles " in Northern Ireland plus other thoughts and experiences .

You will know that every Police Officer in the Provence is armed plus of course all the members of the Armed Forces are armed . But nearly 1000 members of the Armed Forces were killed during the " Troubles " .

To my mind it would be a very dangerous decision , going on from that the Officers that shot and killed the apparent terrorists are now probably suspended from duty and being investigated by a person who had never had a gun in their hand or been in a position when they have had to make a life / death decision within a split second.. ( IPCC )

It's apparent that nobody will convince me that all Officers should be armed .

I do have the greatest respect for the Emergency Services , Police , Fire and Ambulance plus others who run, drive etc towards the incident whilst others ( quite rightly ) are moving away from the incident.

I'm with you on this ubique I do not want to see all police armed as I do not think it will make any difference in these sorts of attacks.
  7. Cambo, I must agree with you he doesn't seem to have thought this through, he said he is well known and has met a lot of people in his Mayoral role this year. In regard to why he is not standing under the IOC banner is they are not known in Westminster where there is already Independents in Parliament. Having held a position representing Herefordshire Independents in the LGA in London also taking me to Westminster for meetings in the last two years of being a councillor he is going to get a nasty surprise if he is elected, London and Westminster is totally different to local politics, unless you have achieved something of significance as a local councillor and it has been recognised that you were responsible for achieving it, they won't acknowledge it in Parliament. His achievements as a local councillor and Mayor won't count for anything.

Let's hope he doesn't start having nightmares to the magnitude of the task at hand because he decided to stand on a whim one night.…so the sooner we know what the issues are he will be campaigning on the better also how he campaigns on those issues will be important too.

  8. Wow!…ok now we've seen Jim wiggle his butt, telling us he's standing as MP for Herefordshire but I really think it's time he tells us all what it is he's standing for?…what are the issues he's campaigning on/for?…can't he hear the ticktocking of the clock?!…before we know it it will be May the 8th & we still won't know what it is Jim his standing for?!

  9. I attended the Independent meeting tonight to hear what JK had to say, He said he was standing as Independent but will remain an IOC councillor, he was told that would give him a conflict of interest, he voted for Brexit but he supports EU people migration to Britain. He also said that if he doesn't like what ministers say in Westminster he would go and bang on their door. He couldn't tell us his policies because he hasn't thought of them at this time. He did say NHS is important( but we know all that already) he wants devolution of powers from Westminster to Hereford and he wants something done about local infrastructure. he finished by saying that if anyone can help him with campaign or has any suggestions tell him. Personally I was disappointed by what he said!!!

It would seem then Glenda that Jim has not really thought this one through very well?

At this rate he will be in danger of losing his deposit?…he needs to get real & sort out a mandate of his policy's he cannot expect to just win on the back of his good reputation in Tupsley.

Did he give any reason as to why he's not standing under the IOC banner?

  10. All quiet on the election campaigning front for Jim & Jessie today?…although I did see HT website had a article on the river carnival which they had posted earlier today along with 17 photos…but not a single one of Jim or Jessie in any of them?…not even one of them holding or kissing a baby??!!…

I sure wouldn't want to be that person taking the calls for HT in the morning!

  11. I was at The River Carnival today and I saw Jesse at a distance with his trumpet case (well I think that was what he had in it, could have been his lunch). I also saw Diana Toynbee the Green Party candidate as well as the Leominster Green Candidate Ellie Chowns(?). I wondered why she as there but then someone pointed out that a lot of areas just outside of the City boundary are in the Leominster constituency. I heard a request over the tannoy for the Mayor of Hereford as they seemed to have lost him - so he must have been there somewhere.

From a national perspective I dont want a Conservative win as they are wrecking our NHS, they have wasted so much of our money on these "free schools" (look at Robert Owen Free school in Hereford), I dont want grammar schools and they have destroyed so much of our local services whether buses, libraries, children's services, etc. and just spend on new roads, whilst our trains are jam packed and out of date, and road surfaces are a danger for someone like me who pedals around Hereford. On policies I will not be voting Conservative regardless of the person representing them.

Does that mean both Jim & Jessie cannot count on your vote then Maggie?

Mind you it's comforting to know that all the candidates were out & about making themselves visable to us the voters…are you sure it was a trumpet case & not a violin case Maggie?

Anyhow I bet Jessie's feeling well jealous of Jim at the moment given that Jim will get another photo opportunity this week being that the mayfair is in town…that's always a favorite of the mayors that is!…I wonder if Jessie will try photobombing it?

  12. Does anyone know,if either or both,Jim & Jessie attended the river carnival today? Unfortunately i was unable to go, due to work commitments…as they are both campaigning now?…you'd think that this would of been,a golden opportunity for them to mingle with potential voters, while getting a photo in the HT,of themselves kissing a baby's head or something!…so I'd be more surprised to hear if they were both absent from the carnival, given what's at stake!

  13. Jim Kenyon is going to speak at the next Independent group meeting next week, so we should find out what his policies are and what's in his manifesto. I am hoping to attend if I do will report what he said here!.

Thanks Glenda that would be good!

No doubt Jim will have a campaign slogan too?…in the comment section which followed jims article announcing his bid to stand a lot of the posters where commenting the phrase "no man has done more for Hereford & Herefordshire" or similar…i think it sounds rather catchy! He should take it up?!

& if Jim's having one then I'm sure Jessie will want one too so I thought the "the hound of love"?…not sure what the love would stand for though?!…But still it's kind of catchy & I'm sure Kate Bush won't mind a bit?

  14. All Councils borrow money, just look how much Cities like Worcester & towns like Telford owe

Yes I'm sure we are not the only ones stuck up a creek without a paddle!…but this can't go on forever these authorities borrowing money like this at some point the lender will want their money surly? Then what?

  15. I think so Denise if we look at the other candidates I think they have all stood before? If not I'm sure someone will corrected me on that.

Jim is a newbi so to speak but I believe he will be Jessie's nearest rival as he is more well known especially in Hereford unlike the others candidates who are not really in the public eye until its election time.

Given that the Norm's nearest rival last time was ukip with 7,000 odd votes then jim will need to pinch a sizable portion of Tories votes as well as ones from other parties too if he's going to win!

So I wonder what his game plan will be?

  16. As I see it whoever stands against Jesse Norman isn't going to displace him unfortunately. The 2015 election gave the following result:

Conservative - Jesse Norman - 24,844 total votes

UKIP - Nigel Ely - 7,954 total votes

Labour - Anna Coda - 6,042 total votes

Liberal Democrat - Lucy Hurds -5,002 total votes

Green Party - Diana Toynbee - 3,415 total votes

Adding up the opposition votes the total was 22,413 and that is assuming all the votes went to one person. How is that going to be organised? The only possibility is a great reduction in JN's majority of 16,890. The dilema is for those who voted for Brexit and are told they must vote Conservative to see it through. I don't see us leaving the EU. Our country has been run down by all the political parties and the BBC and I think we have gone past the point of no return. We will be shackled to the EU one way or another.

Unless Jim believe he can take a big chuck of the conservative votes from Jessie? Obviously it would have to be a JAWS sized bite of a chuck!…but he must have done his sums & mapped out what he has to do to win?

  17. They will borrow the money to make it happen. They will develop the site, sell the flats, let the shops and sell the freeholds to British Land or similar. The finished project will make the normal 20% developer profit, which will be put back into the general funds. It will be a wonderful success and a beacon for the refurbished High Town. At least … that's how it should pan out, and other Council's have achieved it. But this is Herefordshire Council, with a proven record of incompetence, so that 20% profit will become a loss. It will be hushed up and accounts will be redacted as they are today with projects under way at the moment. They will borrow the money to make it happen.

So that'll be another fine mess there'll get us into then!…it's a shame the bookies can't take bets on it…I know the odds would be rubbish being as it would be such a dead cert! But at lest we'd get some money back!

It's amazing how they can conjure up money when they want too?…you'd think as soon as they walked into the bank, there would be flashing lights accompanied by a rather loud siren sounding off, with the bank then going into lockdown!…

because that's what happens, when I go a fiver over my limit & then walk through the door to ask for more!

  18. I'm making reference to Jim's potential as an MP at national level. Sitting Independent MPs can carry much weight when Government is trying to secure the transition of a Bill through Parliament. Sure he won't get much of a say at local level however we can't forget that local conservatives generally tow the party line and I'm sure pressure can be applied from above when necessary. As for Brexit well what's to be done...well nothing it doesn't really matter what his position is on this because it's going to happen whether we like it or not.

Jim may well be able to secure more from central government for his constituents than our current MPs who may occasionally squeak at mum but generally fall into line with house rules.

I have to disagree GK I'm sorry I don't think independent do carry much weight that's why so few are elected…don't forget he'll be competing against 600 plus other MP's.

Brexit is still hugely important if the pm gets a landslide as predicted then a independent MP will be shoved right to the back of the que.

However if he does get elected I would not be at all surprised to see him join the conservatives at a later date.

Also he needs to appeal to a wider audience while he has done good things for tupsley I don't think he has done enough on other issues in & around the county.

While the Norm has his critics I don't think he's been that bad to warrant getting ride of to be replaced by a independent MP who's real agenda is what exactly…what is his main issue he will be campaign on?

  19. If he got in as an Independent the parties would be all over him for his support and as we all know everything comes at a price...so Jim might get better delivery on promises ...Well at least more so than the current crowd.

Parties would be all over him? GK do mean local or national?

Another thing you need to factor in is that this election is all about Brexit…do we know which side of the fence Jim sits on on this issue? Because that could be key?

Although we might want to see change at a local level we can't change that particular political landscape during this election as the Tories will still have control of the council no matter what & that's where we need change most in my opinion.

So if Jim does get elected to parliament will he be able to weld much sway over our cabinet cabal? Because to be honest I don't think MP's can?!

  20. If there were to be an overspend on any project my view is that to clear this mess up it would be well worth it

I do agree that it needs clearing up but our council cannot afford to buy it not with the millions they already owe & when you factor in the closing of No1 Ledbury rd along with cutbacks in adult care etc…if they cannot afford these then I can't see how they can afford to purchase the burnt out shell in high town?!

After all where will the money come from?…or are they going to use some of that cash from the sell off of the farms they are expecting to finance this?
