  1. I went to the consultation on these plans at the town hall I expressed that it look like a box & not very attractive!…if the design had the roof levels broken up & addsome sweeping curves then it might be more attractive?

the architect said he would do that but in fact nothing on the plans have changed & this building is more in keeping with the industrial looking buildings across the road than the railway station building which is a shame really…no real thoughts has gone into the design but I don't think it's in the conservation area? so will be given the green light regardless of its ugly appearances.

I see the Council have awarded a contract for the repair of the Hereford Library/Museum roof - £99K plus £20K

As usual the work is to be done through the Council's privatised service company Integral but the work will be carried out by S C Joseph.

I am sure it is all above board but just how many Council building contracts do S C Joseph receive? Their bid was £10K below those of the other bidders. Perhaps they know something the others do not.

Can you direct me to the council webpage you got this info from please AV

  3. Is this a roof repair or is the roof being stripped & then reroofed which I suspect is the case given the amount of money being used?

Given S C Joseph are not a specialist heritage roofing company or even a roofing company they are builders so why indeed have they got the contract? For this sort of work you need a roofing company who know what they are doing & I don't think    S C Joseph do when it comes to roofs this whole things has a rather bad smell about it to me!

  4. 4.9% increase in council tax is akin to daylight robbery the fact that wages have stagnated means that more & more people will struggle in paying there council tax which will ultimately lead to other problems in itself.

Thou I have no love for the council dictatorship, this all stems from central governments cutbacks…forcing more responsibility on them the LA to find the cash to fund services…it's as if the government see the pleps as cash cows to milk whenever it suits them? but yet they the government have income from us which runs into billions of pounds, from one tax or another…so where does all of that revenue go? If I didn't now better I'd say the treasury is incompetent with our money either that or its rife with corruption?!

But these rate rises are unsustainable if they carry on like this year in year on…but what to do about it is the question?…but the answer may not be so pretty ,I'd say people need to get proactive & start getting out on the streets to protested against such decision making from our government & put an end to this preposterous austerity to vital services!

  5. Fast forward to 13:30... Three chaps still in the doorway... Will they be so welcome tomorrow I wonder?

In answer to that clarkester no they are not welcome by FC called by today & spoke with the guys sleeping rough obviously FC like to cherry pick the bits of Christianity that suits them & giving help to homeless people is not one of those things on their list!

Having been away working for a while I missed this article by the HT on local entrepreneur Rayseesa making appearance on dragons den…I wonder if she is still hanging out with the FC crowd? if so is she handing out some of her dishes to the homeless sleeping rough in FC's doorway down at the old cinema which it has been reported on another thread on this forum that there are indeed homeless people sleeping rough outside?!…it would be nice to think that she is doing just that not just those sleeping rough in FC's doorways but others too throughout the wider community? & if so I wish her well.

  7. I am fully aware of about the little dwarf, I was making reference to her asking for another referendum simply because they didn't get the vote they wanted, so if you like I was being sarcastic by suggesting people asking for another GE amounts to the same, maybe you didn't get that? I am also fully aware that the PM did not need to call a GE but was trying to strengthen our hand with a mandate, of course if backfired, I think we all acknowledge that, nevertheless, imo the DUP was the only choice to make up the numbers and to be fair, the won the first vote last night... :Winky:

You were being sarcastic really? well it was a pretty poor attempt at sarcasm as the two are totally different having a vote on a single issue such as indyref or Brexit is not the same as voting in a GE so as ludicrous as it might sound to you don't be surprised if we end up going to the polls again in 6 months time.

  8. You are starting to sound more and more like that stupid dwarf in Scotland now, lets have another GE, we have only just had one and guess what? Labour were over 50 seats behind the Conservatives, over 50 seats mind you! Okay the Conservatives I must admit had a terrible campaign and lost their majority but the public certainly do not need yet another election right now. Everybody and I mean everybody needs to support this government now in negotiating the best Brexit deal they can get. What the 40% of youngsters that Labour gained during their targeted campaign have actually done is to massively weaken our country's strength against the EU Elite for these negotiations.

You asked me what I do & don't say resign so I told you…your responds is laughable it also tells me you have no real confidence in Mrs May to get a majority without going into partnership with the likes of the DUP if she did go to the polls again? Perhaps your really afraid that she'd lose to Corbyn if that was to happen?

Your also forgetting it was her who called for a GE in the first place because she believed she would win by a landslide it did not happen therefore she did not get a mandate!!!

A 50 seat majority it might be but it's still not enough for her to do as she wishes!

Just to correct you the stupid dwarf from across the border as you put her wanted a indyref again & not a GE

  9. They should do - who's running the Council, them or the officers? That said a lot of members aren't too bright and/or have a tendency not to want to get their hands dirty when it comes to the actual workings of the authority. As evidence we can also point to the appointment of two senior officers with dismal records of corruption and malpractice as heads of legal and finance. You'd think councillors might want to do some background reading, via google if nothing else, on the appointment to such important roles - but apparently they didn't.

That was a excellent set of posts pete

  10. Well we will have to agree to disagree but you would say that I guess. So what would you have done then if your were in the same position? Please don't suggest resigning either....

Go to the polls again but with a new & revised manifesto austerity free especially while Brexit negotiations are on going…be very careful who is hired as my advisors & go after Corbyn by debating him one on one.

You need to show you can lead the country while not duck a fight but with a caring heart & sensible head fill the electorate with confidence in your ability to lead through all the tough negotiations of leaving the EU while not neglecting the needs of the people…also don't take it for grated you are going to win because the polls say so.

  11. I am not sure which comments you refer but in regard to the Conservatives going into power with the DUP, any other party would of done the same in their circumstances, end of!

The only reason the conservatives are going into power sharing with the DUP is because none of the other parties will go into power with them… you could say they are desperate to hang onto power after running a very poor election campaign? but I don't agree with you saying any other party would have done the same they may well have gone into power sharing with another party but it would not be with the DUP because they would not be so desperate as to do so.

  12. Again having a pop at well off people. I am not well off by any standard but it does become a bit tiresome blaming those who happen to be successful, many have worked damn hard too.

I have compassion that said, a friend of ours who lives in Liverpool, there home was damaged from fire and they had to find their own temporary accommodation, the council were not really interested, because it was a private house they told them to speak with their insurers, they were not insured, guess what, nobody other than their family helped them, this was about 5 years ago. So like always in the UK if you work hard an try to better yourself by buying your own home etc your penalised, yet if you don't work everything appears to be provided free of charge. My friend lives in a semi detached Cornish house in Swindon, she had the house left to her when her mother passed away, new people have moved in next door within the last 2 years, they have had all the new alterations, roof tiles, windows, and kitchen and because my friend owns her house they totally left hers, so if your driving around and wonder why one half of a semi looks new and the other is untouched you now know why.

I agree with the above comments, if this were you or me, no help would be coming our way I am sure. The PM has pledged £5 million and has said she will try to re-house these people within 3 weeks which I think is very good, they have refused to let the immigration dept get involved trying to identify people, is that because many of those could of been her illegally?

Bono and Geldof now theres a question, where are these two?

I don't care where bono & Geldof are they are fakers just out to sell papers & grow their egos!

But you like so many other seem to love picking on the less unfortunate in life? STOP putting this countries woes on their heads the rich are as guilty as the chancers & freeloaders of this world they like to keep their wealthy for themselves even thou that wealthy was likely to be built on the misery of others?… because rich people get rich off the backs of others fact!…granted not all of them are totally selfish but there are plenty out there are…I'd describe them as no better than con artist swindlers & thieves all done within a the laws that they have created for their own selfish ends so don't preach to me about the rich/wealthy people of this world they are no better than those who use the system lower down the social scale to con the system.…but maybe your more comfortable being in a field being feed whatever your told & believing it by your wealthy masters!

    Good day sir

  13. I wouldn't either!

That's it keep attacking wealthy people, it's like they have done something wrong being successful! They never suggested housing all the people from the floods back last year in expensive properties, so whats the difference here then? other than the pink elephant in the room.

This was an absolute terrible tragedy, I think everyone acknowledges this but if I am totally honest here, (I am sure I will get slated but hey ho) the days following this horrendous fire which was caused by a faulty Hotpoint fridge we saw the PM visit twice, we saw Jeremy Corbyn visit, we then had other various MP's and celebrities turning up, mind you, Bono and that scruffy t w a t Geldolf never arrived, even though they offered their homes to refugees a few years back, that never developed into anything either than the usual hot air! Oh let's not forget the Queen visited along with Prince WIlliam and yes all this to show support at this sad time for these people but I don't remember seeing all of these people turning up after the London Bridge or Manchester Attacks?

If this were me or you we wouldn't get this support. Are ALL of these people not insured at all? Why have the insurance companies not got people on the ground? Perhaps they have but there is too much finger pointing in my opinion.

Where's your human compassion as you always seem to be down trodding on the poor not everyone can be rich & when your poor with money being tight then things like home insurance can be a luxury item they just can't afford.

These people are now homeless have lost loved ones neighbors & friends because of this avoidable tragedy so are in need of help so don't begrudge them of receiving any help.

Rich people never have the worry of where their next meals coming from or if they will have a roof over their head tomorrow…rich people need other people too you know they don't get rich on their own!

  14. I am not sure what the PM can do, she cannot do right from wrong, yet Corbyn appears to be okay now, people make me sick tbh they run with the foxes and the hounds.

This was a terrible accident and yes people are looking to lay blame, storming a building is not the answer. The PM has ordered a public enquiry and now I see one poster on FB says that is not good enough it should be an inquest away from the government, she can't win!

She has pledged to house these people within 3 weeks and also allocated £5 Million, this is all very positive but I have friends who house was burnt to the ground in Liverpool back in 2008 and they were unfortunately not insured like a lot of people but nobody paid them any money or gave them a house within 3 weeks. The local council put them into a 1 bed flat with 2 kids, which is where they stayed for almost 2 years.

I notice the PM, Corbyn other polictions and now the Queen and Prince William have all attended, yet they didn't see fit to all attend the Manchester and London Bridge attacks, why is that then?

This tragedy was preventable the residents had voiced their concerns over the safety of the building & works for sometimes but these had fallen on deaf ears with the local council not doing anything to address the issues or safety concerns raised by the people living in Grenfell tower (sound familiar).

The real issue is the way in which local authorities act they are a law unto themselves doing what they think is best not listening to locals but rather to some highly paid suits who never take into account the concerns of those people who lives they are ultimately effecting also the greedy contractors putting profit above welfare.

So people are going to vent there anger at the PM because she is at the top of the tree also the fact that she did not engage with the residents after the tragedy which was a PR disaster on her behalf. As that just comes across to those effected that they are being overlooked again by the powers that be.

  15. I'm sorry splitting hairs doesn't cut it! Councils and Governments playing lip service to people. If I hear the phrase "lessons will be learnt" one more bloody time! Let's not forget years of austerity, cost cutting, corners cut in so many areas of our lives.

At some point this cold outlook our PM portrays was mistaken as a strength. The last few weeks she's made one mistake after another, she's found herself surrounded by people that her government has been hurting for years in some way or the other from the people in the community to NHS employees under funded, under manned. The police where considerable cuts have been made but will now have to be reversed, and even the fire service where cost reviews are underway....it's endless and I'm sorry but we are about to start 5 years of this. Do you think we are going to make it?

Yes GK we will make it it will be a close run thing literally by the skin of our teeth but we will come through.…although we are going to need a real leader & sadly for Mrs May she is not that person…so I think this whole sorry tragedy has the real possibility of bringing her down & a leadership contest will ensue possible followed by a general election?

  16. Why do people who do not live in Hereford of ever go through Hereford

not listen to those who do?

Because they believe they know best…when in fact they are just plan arrogant jobs worth who are clueless chance'rs just winging it!!

  17. Ragwert read the 1330 comments so far to get the wider picture. Not only in Cambridge, but other places in the UK and coming to Hereford!

Unfortunately this steam train is out of control, going at a 100mph & gaining speed all the while…with no one able to stop it…as the engine driver is slumped all over the controls unconscious from over indulgence, with the doors firmly locked!…we all being powerless to stop it,can only look on while the carnage unfolds!!
