  1. Until there is some trouble there and then the police will want it to stop.

As far as I remember that is the reason the council refused these early morning opening in the first place.

Adrian, this has been discussed on both of these topics. You are right and that is why that have to have SIA door staff after 1.30am but have a read through all of the discussions it is an interesting read.

  2. I see what Roger means it may force people to login in order to see the members only forum which is a good thing. I do not think anyone has anything in particular to hide but if you want to discuss something prior to putting in the main domain that could be a good thing too.

  3. To be honest dippy and Paul Cardin have really given HV a good slagging off in this topic on the Hereford times website http://www.herefordtimes.com/news/13714172.Changes_at_council_department/   dippy may well have contributed immensely here but so have many others but the blogger dippy has undone all the good topics and posts in this discussion on the ht website imo. Other members don't all go running to the alternative local website to slag off this forum simply because the pack on here as dippy describes us don't always agree with their view. I have been a member here for a long time and we should all be able to agree to disagree, we are all entitled to our own opinion. If I received a warning from one of the moderators here, I would sit back and think about why I was given a warning and just accept the moderators decision, you can still challenge this decision but read the rules the decision if final. The alternative site just bans people without warning or discussion, in general the moderator here is very tolerant.

Wow not being very pleasant in that topic about hv or the members here they once exchange discussions with are they? its a betrayal of friendship - I believe were the words bobby used but it was in defence of his friends that he was referring too when he typed that and not hv or the members still here. Colin has normally taken a pretty sensible approach here and I am sure nothing will change but I understand that he needs to get to the bottom of it all at he same time. He runs a tight ship here and long may this continue. If people didn't get so wound up and just accepted opinions from all sides the administrators would not be put in the difficult positions of making some tough decisions in the first place.

I liked it when everyone just discussed things like adults without flying off the handle because someone else disagreed with them or their choice of politics.

  4. No 1 Ledbury Road is the most important issue at the moment, we can deal with Blaackmarston at a slower rate.

I will be unable to ask Bill Norman questions about legality of process, as he has been made redundant with immediate effect and no long works for Herefordshire Council as I understand it!

Bill Norman redundant? This sounds like it came out of the blue Chris or was this expected?

  5. I don't know anything about this Mr Hubble, but I do have very strong views on his academy's so-called 'modern extension'. View it from Waitrose car park if you haven't yet experienced it. But I warn you, it's a real shocker.

For a long time, I seriously thought it was a two-storey stack of Portacabins, which the builders refurbishing the old boys high school block on Widemaresh Street were using as offices and storage. Then someone came along and painted it with what looks like red oxide paint and stuck grey gutters and downpipes on the outside. The penny dropped: this is to be an architectural contribution to our city's built environment.

I think I'd rank it as the worst building in the west midlands! Chief Planner Andrew Ashcroft has a lot to answer for.

I was in town and saw these vile coloured building blocks. This is what the building industry has come too? It looks like it should belong at Legoland and the colour is even better!!!

  6. So you work 12 hours everyday?

Some stores are open 24 hours, apart from the weekend, can you not find the time to shop then?

I know that some people like the NHS and emergency services have to work Sundays, bank holidays and even Christmas day and I am grateful for them doing so, but it seems like there is no break at all and everyday is just like the one before.

People are not going to die because they have to wait until the next day to get a bit of food and if you are in that much of a rush for it, there are still plenty of smaller stores open.

As I said I work Sundays anyway or i will do when I get back to work full time, a 9 hour shift, so the stores opening later will not affect me in that way. But I do feel we need that one day to wind down.

Its about having a choice, let the stores open and if you need that one day to wind down then thats fine too but don't stop others just because you may not agree.

  7. Cant stand Katie Hopkins but as a regular traveler I have to agree with her on this one. We were charged an extra £30 for having excess baggage only last year and I am talking a few kg. She has a valid point, we got charged for a few extra kilo's even though one guy looked like he would struggle to get into a seat, how is that fair?

I reckon passengers should be weighed with their luggage. (Other than a few people who would be exempt because they may have genuine medical reasons) There must be an average based upon your height for example. I am about 88kg (about 14 stone) and I am 5ft 10, I would consider myself a fair bit over weight but not loads over weight for my height. I am allowed to carry hand luggage of 15 kg add this to my weight and you have a combined weight of 103kg. So would you agree someone over 22 stones for example to be considered very over weight at the same height? 22 stone=140kg add this to the hand luggage allowance of 15kg gives a combined weight of 155kg the difference in this case would be 52kg=just over 8 stone, which is heavier than my wife.

Take your average Airbus a-320 with a capacity of 150 seats, if just 12% of passengers were at this weight that would be an extra 936kg which is well over a ton of extra weight and guess who is paying for the extra fuel folks?

This is certainly worth exploring and a debate in my opinion.

  8. To be honest, getting rid of a few banners is not going to improve Hereford. Hereford need a lot of work doing to it, i know many people who used to come here and now will not set foot here.  I can understand why as well.

I am getting to the stage where I am getting fed up of the place.

Went into town this afternoon, Eign gate was a mess, bottles, tins and other rubbish all over the place.

I bet if that happened in the old market it would be sorted out.

Yes because the old market is private and they employ site cleaners

  9. Humm, I have a couple of irons in this fire. First of all, may I comment on a recent thread of people not posting. I read a lot of comments and sometimes do not feel that I am qualified to comment. It does not mean that I am not interested!  However, to point in hand. My wife and I are both active and dedicated members of The Grandstand and Bobblestock Community, and have "fought" alongside Charles Nicholls, our illustrious Mayor, with numerous others, including Jesse Norman, to save the tennis courts. The Association, as I understand, is on the brink of acquiring Westfields Ground from the Council to run it as a charity concern. I would hate it after all the effort put in by the committee and members was undone by skulduggery on behalf of the Council.

Your comments are always welcome Slim, the majority of us are not qualified but we share our views all the same. Good to see you joining in the debate.
