  1. I like tree's and I was sorry to see those trees in Edgar St cut down, but following the save the tree's campaign, imo it is now even worse, looks like a dogs hind leg, they have left one odd tree at the bottom. The new lane is always empty anyway, other then the odd clever dick who jumps the queue then tries to sneak back left into the traffic just before the turning right by Steels.

Hereford's whole traffic management system is a nightmare especially at the Asda junction, I am in favour of turning that junction back into a roundabout and getting rid of the traffic light altogether.

  2. I think I'm going to be out on a limb here (ooops, dreadful pun), but I can think of nothing nicer than to be able to look out of a sitting room window and see those majestic trees across the road. Watch them clange through the seasons. Rather that than (like the poor folk who live in Edgar Street) know that for the rest of your days you'll be looking at a timber-slatted car park that has all the architectural merit of moored container ship!

Oh for Christ Sake get over the bloody trees in Edgar St, I am bored of hearing about them now.

  3. Just walked the dogs over the country park by were Cllr Edwards lives and there are 2 mattresses dumped over there near the top of the basket ball pitch in the woods if Cllr Edwards reads this can he do something about it it looks a mess he is going to be very busy around Newton Farm.

    Can you grab a photo?

Why have they not put up CCTV in Sherborn Close in order to catch the culprits?

  4. Would they not battle through Whitecross Road then over the new bridge to get to Newton Farm/Red Hill from by Cattle market ?

Probably ragwert, just my thoughts. At least they would have several alternative routes to choose from - Whitecross Rd or go up Wordsworth Rd and come out in Barton Rd or go out through Madley, I could well be wrong here but I think if they chose to be sited on the outskirts they have choices where is if they are stuck in the centre it is more limited.

  5. So they build it near the cattle market but that's miles from Newton Farm.Redhill.

Edgar Street is pretty much centre ground for Hereford

Well depending on the traffic I have driven around though Madley from the cattle market a lot quicker than going through the city centre and that was my point, They could also use Whitecross Rd but if you believe that emergency vehicles will not have to battle through the city centre traffic, which is getting worse not better then support their new proposals and leave the new station idea's in Edgar St/Relief Rd.

  6. Morning Frank!

I'm not sure if you've had a chance to look at the thread about Saving The Working Boys Home...... and I appreciate it's very lengthy! ......but there's lots of information in there about the reasons the fire station has to be placed in a fairly central position.

A couple of examples being......Response times for reaching the medieval core, for instance, and also for the retained fire fighters.

There's lots to read...... but give yourself plenty of time! It took Green Knight the best part of a weekend to work his way through from beginning to end!

Hi dippy, yes I was aware of the other topic but that was about saving the working boys home, so rather than jump onto that topic I decided to create a new one just about he two stations new proposals.

  7. I have just been reading the article on the HT website about this second proposal for these stations.

A SHARED police and fire station in Hereford could be built as part of redevelopment plans for the city’s Merton Meadow off Edgar Street.

This morning (Fri) both West Mercia Police and Hereford & Worcester Fire & Rescue Service confirmed that they were looking to develop a site “north of the football stadium†as an “innovative shared facilityâ€.

Both services will continue to work with Herefordshire Council on a site suitability assessment.

The fire service says the Bath Street site of Hereford’s former working boys home – currently council offices – is no longer an option for a new station.

Its great news that they have withdrawn the working boys home application but the new application site prop0sed is smack bang in the city centre, would it not make more sense to have these stations just outside town for all around quicker access. If there is a fire at Newton Farm for example these emergency vehicles will have to negotiate the terrible congestion that we all face daily, I appreciate that there will always be traffic but if they built these stations near Rotherwas or even the other side near the cattle market at least they can decide to take alternative routes in order to save time and lives potentially, surely being in the city centre the are almost cocooned to a degree.

  8. Frank, he was told  by four members of the Independents not to stand against me, as well as other councillors he was adamant he was going to stand against me and was very arrogant and rude to the Independent Leader when he said not to. He was overheard saying  on Friday after he was elected that as Adrian Bridges lost in Belmont, he could of stood in Belmont and got in because he is known there, the answer he got was why did you f...ing stand in Newton Farm then?. That is the arrogance of him. He is not going to get an easy ride both on Newton Farm and in the council I know that.

In regard to standing for IOC that would NEVER HAPPEN. I could tell you a lot about them, they are NOT for the people of Hereford, as their supporters on here will find out, they cannot be trusted!

Ooo, I am not sure about that one Glenda. I know a few IOC members and their intentions are good and somewhat similar to the independents in some area's, so I am surprised you have said that to be honest.

  9. Disgraceful  that one Independent should stand against another.

    Pray for Karma

I am very surprised indeed that other independents did not complain about Phil Edwards standing against another established councillor/candidate, this was obviously to boost his overzealous ego, I think its actually very damaging for the independents. Glenda I would suggest that you consider standing for IOC next time perhaps..

  10. The thing about Glenda is that over the years many of us have questioned, criticized, prodded and poked (and praised where praise is due!)...... yet she ALWAYS gets on here, and does her best to answer.

It's this willingness to engage which has really earned my respect.

It's no mean feat, jumping into this forum, and leaving yourself wide open.... yet time and time again over the past four years, we have seen that Glenda is one of only a handful of Councillors, prepared to do this regularly.

Colin has sent invitations to ALL councillors, making them aware of this forum, and urging them to get involved..... deciding not to  join has been their choice. Well now it's OUR choice Let's all make ones that will benefit Hereford as a whole.

Glenda does what it says on the tin.

I don't always agree with her, but I cannot fault her commitment to her ward and her constituents.

We need to use these elections to hang on to the good ones..... sort the wheat from the chaff.

A vote for Glenda would be a great start for the residents of Newton Farm.

    Ditto

  11. And just let Phil pop round here, bang on my window and demand that I be less critical of his role and I'll tell him, 'clear off. Your days as the Pantomime Dame are numbered and as far as I'm concerned I won't rest until you become the 'ar.se' end of the Pantomime Horse in this years Puss In Boots at the Courtyard here in Hereford.'

Remember the Mayor Vs Widow Twankey photo's bobby? ha ha

  12. Agreed, Frank.

There are transport solutions for Hereford where the car does not have to be king! This could make a dramatic improvement.

I just can't stop thinking and talking with my family and friends about this idea, I think its brilliant. We should call the line Colin's Great Western Way he hee

  13. This could be a good option, I can't see too many people complaining about the use of the top field, there is already trains going past and a tram would be super quiet being electronically powered. I see Preston are thing along the same lines - excuse the pun, see here and also here

Nottingham are into trams too http://greenallianceblog.org.uk/2013/03/13/trams-solar-panels-and-enlightened-self-interest-in-nottingham/, this is a very positive stuff I must say, this debate has filled me with renewed hope.

  14. Brilliant idea! Or even a water tram/ ferry up and down the river would be nice. I wouldn't want anything really modern though I hate futuristic, contemporary modern gizmos!

I dont think they do black and white trams lol :tongue_32: you need to get with it and into the 21st century, I actually like the tram in the first picture, very modern and sleek looking. I am a little fed up with Hereford looking like a farm yard, the design at the new shopping centre is terrible, resembles cow sheds from the old market, I understand that was the idea but I really think it looks rubbish. There is nothing wrong with modernisation as long as it it done tastefully.

A new modern electric tram system is exactly what this city needs and this is the most refreshing idea I have heard in years.
