  1. You are not dim Flam!

This very subject was debated over at HT, following a letter sent in by one of them!

Independants are exactly that - independent!

That's all lovely and great to a certain point, but they seem to lack any sort of cohesion PRECISELY because they are Independent!!

  2. Hi Flam, You are braver than me! I have been chewing my nails, and rolling fags - which I have meant to have given up and been too nervous to ask!

When does polling end? It's usually about 10.00pm isn't it?

And then the count, which in all probability shouldn't take long...another few hours, and we should know. One way or the other....

  3. Morning Flam, IF they can come together, we could have the best of both worlds, but I'm just not sure that will happen. As I said on another thread, to cherry pick the best of them all for the good of the county, that would be the best solution to me, but the Power Shower we have at the moment, won't let that happen - at least not at the moment!

  4. Hi Flam! Just read your post!

But we have been here before haven't we? Asking them to work together, and for whatever reason it doesn't happen.I, like you have always said its the person that counts. They have to have integrity, honesty,be able to put the needs of us ahead of their own agendas.....I am with you on that. That's the frustrating thing, there are councillors who tick all those boxes in every party.....but they are NOT the ones making the powerful decisions! That's why we need an organised group like IOC, who can make a real challenge.

And I have to say, of all the councillors who come on these forums, IOC are the most willing to engage - certaintly on HT anyway!

  5. Time will tell indeed Glenda! And that time is fast approaching!

I hope you have seen from other posts, that I hold the work you do in your role in high regard, this isn't personal - its about what's best for Hereford, and ensuring we have a future!

  6. Bobby, I think it is unfair to discredit all Herefordshire Independent councillors when only two of them turned against me, the others supported me. I also feel it is wrong to show favour to one political party on the eve of a by-election when there are three candidates standing. The Independent candidate is like me works very hard for her community, and cares greatly for them, she also cares about Hereford and what has happened to it, your comment could easily turn people against her, which is a shame I have guided her over the past three years and in 2011 she came a very close second to Mr Hamilton.

    Dippyhippy,

You are wrong in your opinion about Alan Seldon, he was very disruptive within the Independent group and threw his toys out of the pram when he was not voted in as Leader or deputy leader, he is not as popular as you seem to think!

  7. I don't think anybody is being discredited, I just feel we have to look to the future, and the only viable alternative is IOC. I said on another thread, that there is talent across the board,(coalition cabinet thread). BUT thats not going to ever be allowed to happen under the present regime. IOC are the best altenative if we want to see real, positive change.

  8. And another thing, its not just the voters who are seeing it this way. Alan Seldon is a highly regarded councillor - he's just moved across to IOC.Frank, I absolutely respect your view, but for me personally, supermarkets, chain restaurants and department stores that can be found up and down the country just aren't the answer. We so need to build on what we have. Folk visit Hereford for the Cathedral, The Mappa Mundi, The Wye, they don't come to visit Nando's! This development could finish off our High Town, we could lose our identity, and become another faceless city.

Things need to change and move with the times, I truly appreciate that, but this whole thing could have been done so very differently, and without ripping out the heart of our home.

Please don't think I am having a pop, I am not - I am just passionate about getting this City back to its best, not just for us, but for future generations. Much damage has been done - lets not allow them to do anymore.

  9. Hi Flam, this was a post Liz made on HT a little while ago....obviously I can't speak for her, perhaps I have not interpreted her post correctly, but I took it to mean pretty much what I posted - cut out the crap, and share out the responsibilities between those with the skills and experience to deal with them properly, regardless of political affiliation.

The shower that currently occupy the cabinet positions are clearly not up to the job in hand - don't get me started on Patricia Morgan again- but they will never relinquish their vice like grip.

Perhaps the outcome of the Pontrilas by election will force them to reconsider.

  10. Hi Bobby, this will come as no suprise to you,but I came to this decision a little while ago.As far as I can see, they are the only group who seem organised and committed enough to want to bring about the positive changes we so desperately need.

Don't get me wrong - we are in one hell of a mess, and it's going to take a lot of time and effort to drag ourselves back up out of the mire.

But I am greatly encouraged by the fact that like us,they are also keen to promote transparency and accountability. We can no longer tolerate secret meetings, and big decisions that effect so many of us being made behind closed doors. IOC get this. We have to move forward, and I strongly believe IOC are the only party that are capable of achieving this.

Please,Pontrilas...think carefully when you place your cross on the ballot paper. We cannot continue like this.We need a change for the better. And then,we all need to pull together to support them.Difficult times still lie ahead, but to continue as we are is now no longer an option.

  11. Hi Gridknocker, great to see you posting!

Liz Harvey of IOC has called for a war cabinet to be formed.

An apt title in these times. Time is running out - political colours need to to be set aside. We actually need to SEE that they can work together for the good of our city.

I have high hopes for the outcome of the Pontrilas by election. Perhaps only then will the current cabinet realise that even a traditional Tory area is sick to the back teeth of whats happening.

You're right - there are very good people out there. We need to cherry pick the best, regardless of party politics.

  12. I know.

I had plenty to say when this letter was published on the HT forum! Although to be fair,a lot was pretty random!

You just feel that you go round in circles don't you? I cannot believe that there aren't hundreds of comments on some of these council related stories...is there really so much apathy around,or do folk just not care what's happening to this city?

Never one to miss an opportunity though, seeing as you mentioned Patricia, I must make my thoughts on her crystal clear, and at the risk of repeating myself, I would just like to say...she failed to resign over the appalling OFSTED report, which found every aspect of how we protect vulnerable children, as inadequate. That showed a lack of integrity. She is clearly out of her depth now. Failure to step aside shows a complete lack of sense and decency.

  13. Hells Bells Megilleland - even more depressing reading, though I have to say most of it,particularly that which relates to the website comes as no surprise.

How much are we paying Hoople again for this vast improvement in service?

It makes me so angry. We are throwing good money after bad. This situation cannot continue without serious questions being asked about competency.

We are truly on the brink of a financial meltdown....when are people going to wake up to the severity of our problems?

  14. So, come on Councillors, what are you going to do about it? This is OUR money going to shareholders outside the County - everyone was sick to death of Amey and you've walked us into what is already looking like an even worse scenario! How can this possibly have happened?

Couldn't agree with you more Two Wheels. The amounts of money involved are absolutely staggering - yet we seem to get very little for it!

They must be laughing all the way to the bank! And what a wheeze having no 'phone number, I bet the person who thought of that got himself a bonus!

  15. Things are going to change Ubique, I can feel it. There are just too many of us now asking awkward questions, posting awkward comments, and quite a few who are happy to stand up and be counted. The situation as it currently stands is unsustainable...its nothing more than a house of cards. As far as I can tell, the winds of change that are blowing in are getting a whole lot stronger....possibly this wind will gain enough momentum to blow the house of cards down. It will be interesting to see what,or more specifically who, will remain standing.

    Vive La Revolution Comrades...!!!

  16. This whole subject has a dreadfully familiar ring about it.

This never ending re-cycling of incompetent managers, from one local authority to another simply has to end.

I mean what on earth do these people put on their cv's?

Worked for Gloucester - made a monumental cock up. Paid off to leave quietly.

Worked for Worcester - spent far too much money, that wasn't mine to spend, on useless articles.Paid off to leave quietly.

Worked for Hereford - made lots of bad decisions that impacted on many people. Didn't want to be held to account - took the "volountary" redundancy package.

Laughing all the way to the bank, via the post office to send off my next application......

This happens, and its wrong. Plain and simple.

  17. I am absolutely exhausted with this constant crap! Just when you thought someone had some integrity and your faith is restored someone comes along and kicks you in the guts! We are totally wasting our time, we will never achieve anything other than notoriety for being persistent moaners and groaners who will never beat this administration. The very instant someone asks for some positive action everyone goes conspicuously quiet! Only to return when the proposed action dies a death!  I will be at the first demonstration organised to stand up to these idiots who are devoid of any moral conscience but until then I'm done! Trust me I have more to lose than most and not once did I not pledge my support,  have fun going round in circles you won't achieve anything until you organise yourselves. On the forums you're a formidable force and you all have my respect but you achieve nothing!

My warmest regards to you all and my apologies if I've upset anyone this is not ment as personal attack but I have to be honest with myself.

Oh Flam, don't be disheartened - there are quite a few of us who are prepared to stand up and be counted, myself included. Timing, I feel, is everything. We will have our day, don't you worry.

  18. I have been reading up on the history to this. It makes for a sad story. From what I can gather, there was a problem, quickly sorted out by Councillor Glenda, but because she didn't go through the "set procedures" ie. lots of meetings with lots of people taking up lots of time, and not achieving much, she got a completely undeserved slap on the wrist.

We need more councillors like this, willig to listen to their constituents and act quickly to help tp resolve their issues.

From my point of view, Glenda's crime was to use good old fashioned common sense. Well, if thats a crime, I can only wish a few more folk could be charged!

Common sense is sadly lacking these days.

I am really pleased that Glenda has been exonerated - a rare victory for common sense in itself......

By the way Biomech, thats a rather cheeky way to refer to Our Good King Bobby! He'll not let you get away with messing with his vowels and consonants you know!!
