  1. I am not moaning ragwort, and you have a valid point but I think we could easily stray away from this topic which is about weeds, trees and general lack of dealing with all the overgrowth in Hereford. You have highlighted another problem in our city LITTER! This also needs addressing but I think it warrants a topic and debate of it's own or would be better added to this one

You could say that about this topic.

There are dozens of topics here that broadly are on about the same sort of problem but for some reason warrant yet another topic.

  2. This is Sam again.I had a chat with her this morning as I was asked to remove the rubbish that she had been installing as a wind barrier on some private land I'm

looking after. It was pretty obvious by what she was saying to me that she has mental problems. She said she likes to be seen and will set up campsites to do so.
She also said she's not homeless and never has been as she has more than a few tent homes pitched up.

  3. Thank you for that Ragwert , I knew that you had your finger on the pulse and correct me if needed.

Just wondering why it has been reported that the Metpol are considering Corperate Msnslaughter Charges against a Company if everything was legal and complied with the present ( but apparently outdated ) laws and Fire Regs ?

If you have a product that has be tested by Govt departments, given a British Standard number & also a class 0 fire rating which then fails

new fire standards, who do you blame?

On the other hand other Countries have also tested this type of cladding and come up with very different levels of fire resistance.France give it an absolute zero for being flamable and say it's non combustible,UK give it a 0 which means a very slow spread of flame something like 8 inches in 10 mins.

Germany's fire rating gives it the same rating as wood.

    Blame lies with outdated regs.

  4. You would of thought like Jeremy did that Maduro being Chavez vice president would of followed in his footsteps, how wrong that

turned out.The people are angry,Civil war is around the corner.

I can't say I'm a fan of Maduro. To me he is a wolf in sheeps clothing - a populist authoritarian masquerading as a democratic socialist.

I got why Jeremy supported Chavez - but Maduro? No.

It will be interesting to see what is or isn't said about current events as they unfold.

We all make bad choices sometimes in the people we offer a hand of friendship to - just look at Thatcher and Pinochet...

Wishful thinking Dippy. I can see Civil war

  5. To be honest I'm surprised there are 17 estate agents still about, then again they charge so much so that's probably why.
The rise in cheap online estate agents will kill them in the end though and they will all probably follow.
I'll be selling our home next year using one of the online agents & it will cost me around £600.Compare that to the £3,000 say Connells would want

    it's a no brainer.

  6. Thank you GK Son for your three excellent posts relating to your visit to the area.

One can see it on TV but going to the scene would truly show a completely different picture , I would think that you came away quite sad , perhaps a little angry that because of complete disregard of Fire Regs this disaster occurred in the first place . It appears that Building Control Officers were signing this material off as acceptable . I am sure others can or have already explain this weakness .

Fire regulations were not disregarded though were they.Nothing to do with building control officers signing off the cladding as it had

passed some very standard fire tests way back in 1998.The only Country that tested this type of cladding and came to the proper

conclusion was Germany giving it a B1 classification...The same as wood.

Building regulations were and still are out of date and a complete overhaul and re testing of all materials used in construction

    is needed.

  7. It would be a good idea if everyone kept the area outside their own house clean.

It seems those paid to do the job cannot even be bothered.

I took these pictures yesterday of a young girl with a dustcart going through town not even bothering to pickup any rubbish.

One of the reasons why is because she was on her phone.

  8. There is also a problem in Blueschool Street when turning right into Widemarsh Street.
There is no reason why the box junction extends into the right hand lane turning for Widemarsh Street as you are not hindering any other
    vehicles.
This causes a back up of traffic in Blue School Street especially in rush hr traffic because only three vehicles can squeeze in between the

    lights and the box junction.

  9. Thank you all for these links. Call me simple but when are we getting the 800 new homes on the "Urban Village"? I thought these were going to be built alongside the City Link Road, and yet I have seen no planning applications to move these much needed homes onto development. I thought there had been a planning application approved a few years ago for some supported accommodation at the end of the football club ground. This site would be ideal for older people to move to as they would be closer to all the services, and as buses have been cut, if you are no longer able to drive you need to live close to shops, doctors, hospitals, etc. Friends at The Rose Gardens off Ledbury Road find it so convenient for town and meeting friends. Surely University students wont need to live right in the centre of Hereford - I thought they were going to be working with employers based at the Rotherwas Enterprise Zone and at other employment sites outside of the City centre.

The only planning appI have seen is for two retail units on Blackfriars Street where the furniture place was with 56 flats behind for social housing

I very much doubt 800 'homes' will be built in and around the link road.

Plans for a new fire & police station & acc for Uni students along with a new county bus terminal have scuppered the original plan for the area.

  10. 'An embarrassment to the city': what went wrong with the £725m gateway to Cambridge?

Initially planned by Richard Rogers, CB1 was to be a world-class arrival point, with park, piazza, heritage centre and affordable homes. Instead, it’s ‘a future slum’ plagued by antisocial behaviour and sex-trafficking.

This article deserves to be read as it looks a carbon copy for what could happen to our city when the developers and planners get together for the Edgar Street Grid.

The real problem with that development is where its been built. The station is badly located out of town (1 mile).Terrible local bus service. Most people

who arrive by train at the station have to use a taxi to get into the City and most people who use it arrive by car or have bought one of the posh expensive flats.

As one person says it's full of expensive flats for commuters to London and boring chain shops/restaurants.

This development is huge.To compare it to what is being built on the link road is laughable.

  11.

Where are you getting these figures, because this does not add up at all.

How can Poland with a population less than half of that of the UK (37 million) have the highest level of disability in Europe?

Germany has a population of over 80 million, Italy has a population of over 60 million, France has over 66 million, Ukraine has over 40 million and Spain has a population of over 45 million.

    Disability in Europe
    • The total number of the population with a long-standing health problem or a disability (LSHPD) in 25 European countries is estimated to account for more than 45 million citizens. [ii]
    • These European Union statistics only refer to the population that is 16 to 64 years old. [iii]
    • This means that one in six persons (15.7%) of the working age population (aged 16 to 64) has either a long-standing health problem or a disability. [iv]
    • One European in four declares having a member of their family affected by a disability. [v]
    • At 32.2% Finland has the highest percentage prevalence of long standing disability in the European Union.[vi]
    • The Netherlands has the third highest prevalence of disability in the European Union with 25.4% of their population. [vii]
    • 6.6% of the Italian population are disabled, one of the lowest figures in the European Union. [viii]
    • 5.8% of the Romanian population have a long term disability. [ix]
    • There are over 10 million disabled people in Russia. Approximately 700,000 of these are children and young adults up to the age of 18. [x]
    • The United Kingdom has the second highest prevalence of disability with 27.2% of the population having a long-standing health problem or disability. [xi]
