My biggest concern from what we see is vulnerable persons that feel safer taking a cab a short distance than walking, albeit to another venue or just around the corner home. If you are trading in Hereford you abide by the rules and respect the needs of our residents or go trade elsewhere.

Rebecca if you pop into Yates I have CCTV if you wish to identify the cab. You can them report this to licensing who are dealing with these issues currently to stop this happening.

Mick I agree, the Butter market is in the heart of the city and should be thriving, it's a shame that Conmercial Street is going down hill fast, it's obvious that the shopping citcuit has changed with people parking in Merton meadow and OLM then heading into town via Widemarsh St, then into the centre and turn around when they see all the empty shops. There was an idea that the landlords should put up displays in the shops to make them appealing and not looks like empty ruins.

Ubique, I wouldent rely on the Drain on local services stopping it. Today planners past 40 homes in Bartestree on a site they had previously rejected after the parish council was gifted a field by the developer. No Doctors Surgery, No Dentist, All nearby schools are at capacity along with local overcapacity sewage system. I'm afraid with the current conservative policy of mass building is the shape of things to come wether it be on a Brown/Green field site wherever it seems unstoppable. "Time for a change"

The application that was placed for Yates was to extend the trading hour by 1 hour. The last admission time was agreed between us and the authorities and if we had wished we could have stated our case to stay admitting people till 2 but this would acheive nothing as most people approaching the door would have have had enough by then. Granted staff like to have a beer after work but then why not agree a last entry time and admit on a guest list basis for pre booked staff after that. Roger the timings you see in the license application with regards to special occasions are no different to what they were before since 2005. The NYE timings have been available to everyone since the millennium they just need to put this on their licence and finally the extra 30mins after 2pm allows time for people to drink up after the Music & Bar has closed. I hope MJ's agree a resolution with regards to this as they do provide a night out that is popular with all ages and I'm positive that they will still get the support from Herefordians whatever the outcome.

Standard hours are 23:00 both Munchies and Wok & Rice have had to apply for extended hours till 01.30. It's the same for a pub where any hours outside standard trading hours 23:00 have to apply for extended hours to go to later. This is where there was an issue within the Impact Zone with regards to extending hours but this is now relaxing with business applying on their own merits where they feel they can prove that there will be no cumulative impact.

From what I gather and read in to this there is no intention or agenda to shut the club just ensure that people in the venue are there because they want to be at that venue for what it offers and not just be a late drink where people go to when the late bars kick out at 2 and people have had enough. What is the issue with a last entry time of 1 or 1.30 every other club in town stops admitting at this time. Ok they trade later but if people are in there by 1.30 they can still drink and party till late. Maybe the customers need to decide if they are better off going to Mamma Jammas earlier and in turn the spend over the bar will increase.

I have spoken to the Licensing dept at the council and had an update. The drivers in the origional complaint have been dealt with via a disciplinary process. They get 3 warnings then are taken to disciplinary. The council are all over this now and are clamping down on licensing which is great news.

Munchies were talking about applying to open later but as soon as they do the others will and there will not be enough current trade to support them all. Lots of choice but no customers - Give it a year and they will all be closing back at 1.30 again.

Victor your response from the Council twitter is a very poor response as this is not a police issue, its licensing regulation issue. I have logged this officially with the council licensing dept who are addressing this and I will be interested to see what the outcome is. Roger is not being racist and reflects the view now of many customers who walk down the rank to find a Hereford taxi driver that can take them home without having to be guided and overcharged, this has been going on for a long time and I have lately decided to take action as I'm fed up of standing outside my venue seeing my customers struggle to get lift home. I am seeing the Hereford cabs taking all the jobs that the cabs from Worcester are refusing and this is not right and needs to be addressed. This week FREE RADIO have contacted me over this issue as they had seen this thread on Hereford Voice, I cant personally comment and slate the council as they are underfunded and no doubt don't have the funds to do day to day work let alone enforcement during the evening but I do think this has to be addressed, this is not a witch hunt on taxi drivers or public bodies rather plea to make Hereford a safer place so that everyone can get home safely and if taxi drivers want to come to Hereford to work then they have to play by the rules or leave it alone to the Hereford drivers to provide the service that local residents expect.

Again this weekend a Young lady was looking to get from Commercial Road to Ledbury road and was refused by a Taxi who said the fare was too short as he had been sat on the rank for an hour and was not going to go a short trip. We have taken his licence number and car plate number. He will be reported this week. Surly all taxis have a duty to get the citezens of Hereford home? If they are not prepared to take short trips then they should not be allowed to work the ranks of Hereford.

Tried to take his badge number but he was not wearing one, I insisted that he had to have his badge number on him and he told me to take the plate number on the car, after standing my ground he produced a badge from the side door pocket.

This is good to hear, but we don't want to go back to the old days with the trouble that came with it. Things are a lot quieter than years ago when the CIZ was introduced and I'm not sure that the city would support many outlets opening to make it profatible, but I supose that's the choice of the owner. There would need to be some sort of control eg someone stop any trouble that would inevitably come with it, call me synacle.
