  2. The rainbow flag will be flown outside Herefordshire Council buildings and offices to recognise Pride month, a festival of celebration and recognition of the role played by the LGBT community. You will see these flags appearing later on the Town Hall, Plough Lane Offices and Hereford Library and Museum
  3. A large group of children from St Thomas Cantilupe Primary School visited the thought-provoking Knife Angel Hereford statue at Hereford Cathedral, a quote on the schools Twitter page simple read;
  4. A planning application to build a three storey apartment building on the site of the former Sportsman Public House Land off Widemarsh Common have been submitted by Reservoir Homes Ltd. Planning Application P211931/F A previous planning application which was eventually withdrawn by Reservoir Homes Ltd was submitted back in 2018 that we reported on here

  6. The Knife Angel is being loaded and expected to arrive at Hereford Cathedral later this afternoon
  7. After 18 months of preparation and anticipation, the Knife Angel will finally be arriving at Hereford Cathedral later today! Hereford Voice is so proud to have been able to promote and support the Knife Angel Hereford project for many months leading up to the arrival of the statue in Hereford later today and wish Alison Davies, Meryl Cain and the whole team behind this fabulous event a very successful month ahead. Knife Angel - Also known as the National Monument Against Violence and Aggression, this magnificent 27ft statue built from 100,000 confiscated knives and blades and will be on display at the Cathedral between Monday 14 June - 12 July. Events | The Knife Angel team has been able to organise an exciting range of free-to-attend events to accompany the Knife Angel’s visit and in order to stimulate discussion on the devastating impact violence has on all our lives. These include: A full day virtual conference, entitled ‘Knife Angel Hereford: Crime in 2021 – From Knowledge to Practice’ (see: etc https://hfd.news/em9 for further information and bookings) A comprehensive selection of workshops to be held in locations throughout Hereford City from 21 June to 11 July. Subjects range from ‘Managing post-lockdown stress’ to interactive medical workshops and creative activities. A weapons amnesty, approved by West Mercia Police, where knives, blades and other weapons can be safely disposed. The team responsible for bringing the Knife Angel to Hereford is headed by Alison Davies, who lost her son, Mark, to knife crime in 2018, and Meryl Cain. Alison Davies comments: The Knife Angel will be located outside the cathedral and will be free to visit with no need for visitors to book in advance. Relevant precautions, including a one-way system around the Knife Angel and volunteer stewarding teams, will be in place during the day to help welcome and guide visitors.   14. APPEAL FOR INFORMATION West Mercia Police are appealing for the public's assistance after an incident in Burghill, Herefordshire. Around 11.40pm last night (Friday 11th June) someone has attempted to post a marine flare through a letterbox at an address on Oak Lane, St Mary's Park, Burghill. Fortunately for the occupants who were asleep at the time, the offender(s) were unable to get the flare through the letter box and it went off on the door step. If anyone has any information about this incident or saw/heard anything suspicious then they are asked to get in touch quoting incident 139 of 12/06/2021. Officers will be conducting additional patrols in the area over the coming days.

  17. The powerful sculpture created from over 100,000 knives is due to arrive in Hereford on Monday as a stark warning of the impact of knife crime. The Knife Angel will be on display outside Hereford Cathedral for a month long visit and will highlight and raise awareness around knife crime and the devastating effects that it can have for those victims and their families. During the month there will be a series of events and workshops taking place.   18. We have to keep congratulating the fabulous Stronger Hereford team for their excellent campaign and winning bid securing over £22 million for some wonderful projects for Hereford. To put into context just how incredible it is to achieve £22.4m, Hereford MP Jesse Norman said Below is another new project that will benefit from this huge 'Towns Fund' The Southside project will be located in Newton Farm in South Wye and is a collaboration between Growing Local is Going Local CIC, Belmont Wanderers Football Club and NMITE. Their common goal is to improve the future health, wellbeing, life chances, and employment skillsets of the people of Hereford. Alongside a main building, this project StrongerHereford will develop 3G and 4G pitches, a wheelchair-accessible plot, a community market garden, and an educational garden to help engage the individuals in this area.   19. RTC on A438 Portway, outside Oakchurch Garden Centre, lorry with hazardous waste with broken axle and spill on road, police are controlling the heavy traffic, motorists are advised to find an alternative route as recovery will take several hours.

  21. Emergency road works taking place on the Kingstone Road and Brampton Road, Madley due to a thick layer of lying mud following torrential rain yesterday washed off the nearby fields. Herefordshire Highways operatives are working to remove, delays likely all day, where possible, please avoid the area.
