  1. I have already addressed that in this post. They could possibly use some of the land on the left, (telephone exchange) its wider than you think, or you could divert to the left before the bridge still using some of that land on the left, failing that, you go right and come in from the other side. (I can't believe they actually gave permission to build these flats in the first instance to be honest.) which would bring you down parallel with the Railway Club.

There are bound to be a few hurdles along the way, like with any project, but 90% of this infrastructure is already there but if they can knock down half of Hereford town centre for a relief road, this is very simple in comparison.

I agree with Colin, most of the infrastructure is in place already, of course it will need adjusting but this can be done quite easily in my opinion. I am shocked that half of these old tracks are still there and hidden away for all these years without anyone coming up with such a simple plan as this one. I never knew any of it was still there until this topic was created.

  2. A very good and positive idea, lets hope that the next council get behind this project, could give Hereford the boost that the city needs and some serious relief from the roads coming in south of the river. This could be linked to Rotherwas without too much effort I would imagine but I really like the idea of a modern tram system in Hereford. Seeing the photographs brings back some memories too  :Happy_32:

  3. I think you have missed the point here, the landlord, in most cases gets NOTHING from these car park management companies, they merely approach landlords and say this is the best way to deal with people who park on their land, we will do everything and it will not cost you a penny. (But we will earn a small fortune) In general, most landlords will just agree as it costs them nothing. This is not so much about the landlords this is about these companies scamming people and I would never pay them without a court order, which funny enough is very unlikely, why is that? It's one big scam and needs addressing in my opinion.

I could not of put it any better myself, one huge SCAM and bully boy tactics and I know what I think about bullies!.

Thanks for the original advice in the first 2 posts i'm sure this will become useful at some point with so many of these bullies around these days.

  4. I have just run a script test on HV and its loading fine, in fact, its lightening for me, I have a fast download speed from my ISP so it's down to your internet provider and connection and not necessarily this website. I would also check your browser cache but it might also be worth checking your download speeds HERE or HERE

  5. This ruling has always baffled me. I went to university in Cheltenham in 1999 and food outlets were open until 3am, if not later. Over a decade later and Hereford is totally in the dark ages.

It was interesting to note that in Cheltenham aside from KFC the outlets were all independents which concerns me that this is another way Hereford Council is stifling local business.

Back in 1999 Hereford supported three major clubs - Play, Eros/Time/Dusk and the Crystal Rooms. Not to mention the smaller late night venues such as Manhattans. Go out on any weekend night at the turn of the century and they were all packed. People traveled from afar such was the fantastic reputation of the Rooms.

In 2014 go out and we now only have two large clubs - Play & Fusion. They are rarely packed. Thursdays and Sundays also used to be big 'going out' nights. Now town is deserted on those nights unless it is a bank holiday. Where has everyone gone?

The rise of cheap supermarket drinks and the smoking ban account for some lost trade but look to Worcester, Cardiff & Bristol and nightlife is booming regardless. This ridiculous, draconian ban on hot food must surely take a large chunk of blame.

Welcome to HV Leon. You have hit the nail on the head! You would be surprised at how many people choose to spend their weekends in Worcester and Gloucester, Cardiff and Bristol, even smaller cities than Hereford you can still get a take away at 3am, Hereford needs to get into the 21st century, its no wonder there are so many empty places here.

  6. But something does not add up here because I managed to get a hot pasty from the garage at 3am last week. The girl in the garage put it in he microwave for me, that's hot food and this is all some takeaways do with some of their food, no difference really.

I have also been reading the discussion above between Roger and Biomech, which is interesting but how does this effect Tesco? You have discussed this issue based on food outlets but you can buy food 24 hours a day from Tesco and Asda so it's okay for them to sell food. This is a great discussion and I am glad that Colin has brought it to our attention, personally, I cant see what the difference in food temperature, ultimately when you have been out for a few beers or to a club, when you come out your hungry and you will find somewhere to serve you food. The council should reverse this and allow takeaways to close when THEY decide, this is bordering on discrimination in my view and these small business's rely mainly on their weekend trade.

  7. The last time I checked, the new development was just a road crossing away from the city centre?

Some people really are clutching at straws here. A bridge isn't needed.

Only the "just a road crossing away" you refer too is the cities major ring road and dual carriageway, great if your 75 years old or a mum with kiddies trying to cross over into town, what planet are you on? A tunnel or enclosed footbridge from the new centre over the main road makes perfect sense and like Colin has said would have no impact on the traffic underneath, the traffic would not need to stop for pedestrians at all which keeps the traffic MOVING, furthermore it keeps the town united not disjointed as someone has already pointed out.

  8. I had a thought there are many people that blog on this site and we never meet I'm sure there will be many that like it that way but why not have a get together at my pub the victory in Hereford I am happy to provide a free curry and entertainment and maybe have a short question and answer with some local councillors it would also be an opportunity to grow the site and give Colin some recognition for the great effort he puts into it I certainly find it informative.

I am up for that as long as it's a hot curry Jim  :tongue_32:
