  1. Adrian, Don't do that! Don't resort to violence. Violence only perpetuates further violence and angst in our already fragile society.Just think, if I push them off their bike, and I believe you would, and they sustain a serious life changing head injury, I might get prosecuted. Then you end up in prison and perhaps if your very unlucky some highly aroused masculine she bi.tch rapes you in your cell and you end up psychologically damaged by the terrible event.

And all because you pushed a cyclist off his bike! My advice to you lad is to step to one side, allow the cyclist to pass and when he's far enough away, and there's no chance he can come back at you and beat you senseless, shout something that'll make him realise how angry it makes you feel.

Course, you could do the sensible thing and not expose your hostile violent thoughts to the attention of people who, like me, think you mad for wanting to push someone off their bike. Just because I've written something that you don't agree with I'd hate to think that you'd carry out your threat and cause another person injury. My warmest regards to you.

Well I am just venting my frustrations bobby, it is not right, and if a cyclist riding illegally on a footpath rides into me or my kids that is violent is it not? I understand that there is not enough infrastructure for cyclists but in fairness I have noticed when I travel about that a lot of towns and cities are slowly addressing this and it is not something that can happened overnight, nevertheless, many cyclist are just downright rude, selfish and cocky, I see this all the time and yes I know the same applies to motorists but the motorists does not windge and play the victim card. I didn't realise just how many people ride bikes on footpaths and flout the law to suit themselves until I started to read through this thread and now I cannot help but notice these people myself.

  2. Not withstanding the Law that prohibits cycling upon our pavements and the general views on these pages that believe it to be wrong, and cyclists should take their chances and their proper place on our congested, narrow, not fit for purpose pot holed roads, I say no matter your age or your cycling level of competence, if you feel that there's the slightest chance that by riding on the road you'll end up getting flattened and dead, where it's safe and possible to do so, get yourself and your bike on the pavement and ride yourself safely home giving precedence and generous regard for pedestrians who occupy that same space.

That said, once our roads have been invested in and raised to a higher standard, probably in the year 2067, get yourself and your bike off the pavements and ride upon the nicely tarmac'ed road surface confident that there's little or no chance of you and your bike getting crushed by a passing commercial vehicle because it and it's bloody load have ample room to safely pass you by allowing you every opportunity to survive your journey to and from wherever it is you are travelling to.

How's that! You can't be fairer than that.

I do not agree at all. The law is there for a reason, you cannot decide which laws you are going to abide by and which ones that you are not. A member on here has already said, how long before the person on a scooter/moped decides I don't feel safe on the road and decides to join the other illegal footpath riders? You talk as if the footpaths don't have pot holes, a lot of the time they are much worse than the roads themselves. I tell you what, if I am walking along the footpath and someone cycles too close towards me and my kids, I will be pushing them off! Lets see what they think about that.

Clearly some idiots in these photographs and videos which frustrates me because I only have to just touch my mobile and I will get nicked, fined and issued a loads of points yet an uninsured unregistered cyclists can flout the law and nothing is done about it.

  3. Well unlike the HT I try to refrain from editing posts as much as possible. I work full time and I cannot monitor every single topic and post, I rely on members hitting the REPORT button that said, I have no problem with people having a disagreement and arguing to a degree but some comments do come across as more childish than anything. his has very little to do with the way we manage the site. You get this on all forums and social media, it is called 'Freedom Of Speech' we have rules/guidelines in place and most members over the past 10 years or more have been pretty good in my experience and I have very rarely had to remove a comment or hand out warnings, which in itself speaks volumes about Hereford Voice.

Colin, you run Hereford Voice very well especially considering how many topics and discussion are on here. It is very easy to sit behind keyboards and criticise. Well done keep up the good work and thank you for providing this platform for all us members to be able to contribute to the various and sometimes controversial debates.

  4. You cannot have it both ways, it is either acceptable to hurl abuse or it is not, where do you draw the line? John Barnes suffered loads of racial abuse, now that is a big no no (anything to do with race has a massively over the top reaction in my view) but you appear to be condoning shouting 'You dirty fouling cheating F'ing Bastard' but put the word BLACK in front of the word F'ing and you are in deep trouble.

Swearing and shouting vile abuse these days at any public event is not acceptable to me.

I am with you on this one Alex

  5. If it’s the Safer Roads Partnership then fine, that is the Police and that's legit. The morals of it are a different issue. The SRP website states 'The Partnership is part of West Mercia Police and is responsible for the delivery of the police’s road safety strategy.'

Colin says it's not the Police - then who is it? I still don't see how this is a scam.

From what I have read and I might be wrong here but Colin thinks this is a scam because they have picked a day when they know the traffic will not be bumper to bumper, so this is not about road safety it is more about making a quick buck, once his wording SCAM.

  6. I agree with Colin, this is just a money making exercise because this road is normally choc-a-bloc with traffic so they have picked a day when they know there will be a lot less traffic about and looking to catch out the easy targets possibly driving 34mph.  :Cha ching:  :Cha ching:  :Cha ching:

  7. i do not know why we really need a load of these flags all over the place anyway, they look awful and tacky, I also do not why we are celebrating someone's birthday that have had,  to be honest  a good lifestyle paid for by the tax payers.

And a MASSIVE earner for the UK, ten fold compared to what they are paid.

  8. This was the result of the HT poll, which I didn't see until I read about it here, nevertheless, majority were in favour, even though the way it was worded could of been confusing to some, you had to click NO in favour of a tram and YES is you didn't want a tram and agreed with Councillor Price.

    Your vote

Mooted proposals for a light tramway system to run along Hereford's Great Western Way have been ruled out by Herefordshire Council. Do you agree with this decision?
    • Yes – it would cost too much and is not a viable transport solution
      38%

    • No – it would be a good, cost-effective way to link both sides of the city
      58%

    • I don’t know.
      4%

  9. A tram along the GWW would be ideal and most local people agree, a proper study should be done, (not work of old studies from years ago) which would also involve a tram company for their input and advice. I am sure local companies would sponsor carriages with advertising to create revenue and help fund the scheme.

  10. 2 young girls raped in Hereford and it did not make Central News? The images supplied of the man that the police would like to talk too are the usual poor quality that we often see on CCTV camera's. I wish the owners or these camera would occasionally clean the lenses of it is almost a pointless exercise. I really do hope that they catch the person who committed this disgusting crime and lock him up in general population with other prisoners for a long time.

  11. Jon - of course I may be wrong BUT I believe that you have a moral ( if not legal ) obligation to speak to their relatives re your suspicions / evidence . If they are not interested I honestly believe that you should advise the Police , ( perhaps start with your local Community Officer or his Senior Officer ) recording their names plus the date you advised them - failing that call the Police Call Centre and report your suspicions / evidence - ask for their Log number . I know that you will think you are a snitch BUT how would you feel if , God forbid , one of these elderly drivers mounted the pavement outside a local school and killed one or more children .you would think about it every day and regret not passing on your concerns to the Authorities .

As an aside but in keeping with age ! Just before Christmas I received a Summons from the Jury Service Office in London summoning me to Hereford Crown Court on the 16th Jan 2016 for Jury Service , read the enclosed form , fill in the form and return it within 7 days ( on fear of death or worse if I failed ) read the booklet - TO OLD FOR JURY SERVICE . Bill Wiggins received an email from me giving my opinion ! Still waiting for a reply . Some Posters on this site know what I do as a volunteer , the Charity I am involved in certainly would not permit me to do what I do if I wasn't capable .

So what I am trying to say is that age should not come into the decision making , each decision should be rationally taken by the person after considering all the factors - I honestly believe that the two ladies Jon has mentioned should not be driving.

I share your opinion Unique, and I also believe people have a moral responsibilty to speak with friends/relatives and possibly even report, it would possibly save lives. Good debate though.  :Thumbs-Up:

  12. Good evening,Adrian Pitt. Sorry for the delay in response....Post number 175.

So... it's fine for us to go to a foreign country, abuse the hospitality, break their laws, disrespect their culture.... because we've paid for the privilege, and it's part of the holiday???

    This is a ridiculous statement.

You're right. In as much as it is not a fair comparison. (I alluded to this in my post.) But not for the reasons you state. These children have endured more in their short lives, then you will hopefully ever have to see.

I did not say that did? What I said was Club 18-30 is designed for drink and fun holidays! I never suggested or stated that it was fine for ( us? )people to go to a foreign country, abuse the hospitality, break their laws and disrespect their culture, so actually you have misrepresented what I said 100% to suit your own agenda. Please show me where I said that?

Equally, you could apply your description to many refugees, it is okay for some to disrespect western culture and abuse their sponsored countries  hospitality, which has been widely publicised.

You are trying so hard to find an argument and you have resorted to misrepresenting my words as it is the only way you feel you can win yet another argument with someone (of the majority) of people who clearly don't share your views. Happy to continue debating with you but at least try to avoid putting words in people's mouths.
