I think it's a weight issue Ubique, with those wheelies they attach it to the bin lorry and the lorry lifts them up to empty them. 

Guess what, my recycling wasn't emptied yet again. Which means this week there's going to be a lot of overspill in bags, I wonder what will happen....

What caused the backlog and what is being done to make sure it doesn't happen again?

After all, they have even less work to do now with the cuts to services - surely you'd agree that if they aren't fit for the job they shouldn't have been awarded the contract?

I wouldn't imagine so, they have the exact same setup of retailers as the OLM with some more shops and attractions on top

What we're pissed off with is giving this council more and more of our money for them to do less and less. We're pissed off about having to have plastic containers of rotting flesh and animal **** in our gardens that are only collected twice a month - or once a month if you happen to be on holiday or miss it - or they don't bother to collect it, as they didn't yet again with my recycling this week

Hi Guys, my information is that the company is based in Hampshire but the bins will be made at its German base.

 

The normal tendering process will have been gone through and will be open for the external auditors to examine should there be a complaint.

 

As to what you do with your bin when you get one, I can think of a number of things but let's not go there! 

And what about if central government make fortnightly collections illegal? 

Or what about when Hereford Council decide to force us into collections every three weeks, like other councils?

What then? Where's the comment on that?

I think local Commercial radio will run any sort of business advert if you book a slot and pay the appropriate fee ...

Indeed. I guess that the council etc don't think enough of the OLM to advertise it more :P Maybe they spend the advertising budget on Gloucester/Worcester radio for our OLM?

Just seem's a bit stupid opening a shopping centre and then the majority of the advertising telling you to go somewhere else :P

Free Radio I imagine, that's what I tend to have on most.

If I get sent one that I'm not expecting, I shall remove the lid, turn it upside down and spray paint it.....it will make a great dalek costume!
 

Sell it, make some money. As I say, if it remains the property of the council, then once my rubbish is in it, it's there's and if it's not taken away I'll report them for fly tipping :)

That's a good idea. I'm happy to use my black one but I have a black plastic one already (I wonder if I can get a refund on that). Perhaps I could spray my black one green to have 2 recyclers - maybe then I'll be able to fit all of my waste in and they'll actually collect it!

Well that's a little bit different. What we have here is like the region of Champagne in France only serving it's customers Champagne imported from another country/region that simply uses the ... species, let's say ... of Champagne grape, despite being the founding area for Champagne :P

I would look for the source or posts on here, but Milligliaiand (whose name I can never get right) can do things like that in a fraction of the time - and seems to enjoy it! :P

It wouldn't be quite as bad if they didn't keep leaving the rubbish in the street. The recyclers are the worst, I've never had a problem with the black bag guys.

If you have a 2mm gap in your green bin - they won't take it. If it's not in the street for them - they won't take it. The woman over the road had her's full to the brim - closed - so had to put an empty cardboard box on top. Needless to say, while an empty cardbox box left ontop of the green bin is clearly for recycling, they knocked it to the ground and left it on the floor.

..How the local radio have more adverts for Cheltenham, Worcester Crown Gate and Gloucester Shopping centers than our own OLM?

I actually got confused the other day, the advert said "visit the new Odeon multiscreen" ... "eat out in one of our new resturanst like Nandos, Prezzos or Zizzi".... oh a advert for the OLM I thought ... "come and visit our new shopping experience at Cheltenham" hah.

So now we have a "cookie cutter" shopping experience just like everywhere else and the local radio is advertising everyone elses more than ours.

I'm becoming increasingly angered to the point of action. And look, no comment from the councillors involved - as per usual.
