JesseB you are not only one who does not understand it is going to cause a split in vote. All I can imagine is that Richard Baker decided to stand because he felt he could do better than Peter Jinman. I know who my money is on and I hope nearer the time one will see sense and stand down.
-
Now I am confused I thought the Parish Council was non political(that is apart from the Ward Councillor) - please somebody clear up this confusion
-
Surely apart from Graham Powell's patch these elections are for Parish Councillors aren't they?
-
Not quite on topic but nearly. Interesting programme on what can be done in a community when politics are removed. Whilst I think it is too late for Hereford it is certainly worth a listen

Community Enterprise
What role can the community play in rejuvenating their local economy? Globalisation often results in a big geographical divide between where profits are made and where they are spent.
-
A bit more on Peter Jinman - meets all the credentials knows the area probably better than most - surprised there was not a battle with the Cons to bag Peter!
-
Yes indeed watch out Ragwert they are after you!
The field that they wish to build 150 houses in Kingstone on is yellow with Ragwert - there have been many complaints but as yet no action. Ragwert gets everywhere
-
In Kingstone we have an excellent lengthsman who does his best with limited resources owing to the continual cut backs from Central Government.
Looking around it certainly does not look as neglected as the city and the outskirts. We are also blessed with one lady in particular who has arranged with BB to have bags dropped off for her and then when she has done her picking puts the bag(s) on top of a public bin for collection. Prior to that there was also a couple who would do a lot of litter picking each week.
What we do have a serious problem with is mindless destruction in the Playing Field which is run by a charity and volunteers are responsible for its' upkeep. Then just one or two twits are determined to vandalise certain areas. The latest destruction is to take four wheels off a train thing in the nursery play area. This would have involved removing 10 nuts and bolts on each wheel and a vehicle would have been required to transport the wheels. Because of limited resources these wheels will not be replaced and the best we can hope for is that some very clever person can craft some wooden discs to make the "vehicle" look more respectable. It is exceedingly soul destroying when people give of their time to try and make an area nicer and pleasant to live in when you get mindless bastards spoiling the good work. Slightly off topic but still relevant to the downward spiral of the county.

Too awful. Do the Council no longer care that Hereford city and the outskirts has become a dump!
-
Very odd to have 2 Indies hope they don't mess it up - if it was not for the 2 Indies confusing the issue I would say a 2 horse race!
-
I was beginning to think I had dreamt it but 7th September it is
Golden Valley SNT liked
Understand their are 4 candidates for Golden Valley South by-election on 7/9. Good luck to all - hope whoever wins represents the residents
I know the Con and the Indie don't know who the others are
-
Off topic Elts (Jones) has also shut up shop - another very fine building. NMITE will be jumping with joy!
-
Anybody who has work done in their homes be it gardening or inside refurbishments etc should always check with the "tradesmen" about taking the rubbish away. The home owner is also liable.

More trouble at Cheshire East
Does Norman follow trouble or does trouble follow him?

Looks like history is repeating itself
Hereford Heckler shared The Booth Hall's post.10 mins ·Sad news.
The Booth Hall2 hrs · Aberhafesp ·ly found out ourselves just days ago! Sadly after many months of giving our love, time sweat and soul into the building and the music scene the financial side of things eventually beat us and we had to make our peace with the fact we couldn't carry on! We must above all else thank all the people that made this journey possible, enjoyable, special and magical - the people who have facilitated music, supported us and all the people who came through our doors to share so many moments of happiness with us! We love you all for being our community for over a year and a half! With love to you all and a wish that you keep music alive always... And now sadly the booth must wish you a goodnight! -
Hope the person does not move about too much when asleep

Shocking news for the employees and Herefordshire.
I am surprised that commenters are expressing shock that HT have not picked up on this report - remember they knock off early and are not back in until Friday morning then pick their threads up from sites like HV and Facebook
-
Did Bretherton not take to the high seas too?
-
The cabinet appointments are:
Councillor Tony Johnson - Leader of the council/corporate strategy and budget
Councillor Jonathan Lester - Deputy leader of the council/young people and children’s wellbeing
Councillor Harry Bramer - Contracts and assets
Councillor David Harlow - Economy and corporate services
Councillor Nigel Shaw - Finance, housing and ICT
Councillor Philip Price - Infrastructure
Councillor Paul Rone - Health and wellbeing
Councillor Barry Durkin - Transport and roads
Taken from HT and despite what Chris Chappell said Glenda was quite correct
Dip I think Pat has bought a yacht so will be doing the sailing herself - might be wrong on that one!
-
I understand the bi election for a replacement for Graham Powell is to take place on Thursday 7th September 2017. I know there is an Indie standing and a Con standing but of no other party standing at the moment. Please IOC don't mess this one up!

Council's property team pissed while on the job again? Surely not - that can't be the explanation for this debacle can it?
Unsigned contracts, that's par for the course with this Council - see previous comments re: Butter Market.
Council's property team pissed while on the job again
I was not going to remark on Pete Boggs comment on being "pissed whilst on duty" but I feel I cannot let it pass. I am not a prude and definitely not tea total but I find it incomprehensible that Senior members of Herefordshire Council staff are the worse for wear in the afternoons. I am assuming this is a regular occurrence. Many years ago when life was a lot more relaxed but we still got our work done my chosen watering holes at a lunch time were the Oxford Arms(Ted and Iris) Broad Leys Wye Inn to name but a few but we were never too pickled not to be able to carry on working in the afternoon.
Nowadays alcoholic lunchtimes during working hours are an absolute no no and if I had to deal with anybody in business who stank of drink they would not get my business.
I say these guys and I assume they are guys should be named and shamed. I have had names suggested to me and some are still employed by the Council. No wonder all property transactions including the Council farms handled by the Council are and have been such a shambles. As Bobby would say God help us!
Hereford Medieval City Walls Left To Ruin

Colin the little reminder of the City Councillors was a reminder to one and all. Now I might be classed as a little controversial but I have to ask the question. Why are these councillors (some of them fairly well known) and Hereford BID not picking up on the state of the city? The City Walls the Duck Pond and Greenway cycle bridge - all issues that have been raised on these pages and other groups. Why is HCC not taking the initiative and raising these matters?
