Getting very bored with all the road works / closures .........our normal trip into town from Tillington takes 10 / 12 minutes , yesterday and today it took 30 and 32 minutes , that's at 0800 !

On our return at 0915 the traffic queue into town was nose to tail from Wyevale .

No true reporting on BBC Hereford and Worcs other than saying traffic travelling south along A49 is diverted left at the Starting Gate to Aylestone Hill !

On the 25th Sept for three days the A480 road from Kington direction etc. Is going to be closed from the Stretton Sugwas / A4103 Roman Rd roundabout to the A438 Kings Acre Rd by Wyevale , must therefore presume that the traffics will be diverted along the Roman Rd to Three Elms Rd etc....

A friend who has just read the report points out that the well know phrase .........

" Lessons have been learnt " has been omitted from the Report !

I am surprised that County Council do not pass a Bye Law or similar which states that Food Hygiene scores must be advertised - I am sure that the " experts " will soon tell me why they don't , thank you .

All restaurants and takeaways in England should be made to display their food hygiene scores by law, the Local Government Association (LGA) has said.

The body that represents councils in England says the move should be made as part of the post Brexit legislation.

Outlets are scored zero to five based on factors such as kitchen cleanliness, cooking methods and food management.

The Food Standards Agency, which runs the scheme, said it was reviewing how food businesses were regulated.

The FSA also oversees the rating system in Wales and Northern Ireland, where displaying the scores is compulsory, while in Scotland they must display similar food hygiene information.

In England, food outlets do not have to display the rating.

If the woman on the photo is there with her Veteran posters she may be homeless BUT she is not a Veteran .She moves from town to town using the same MO , Police are aware but not a lot they can do. All we can do is keep sharing this story , members of the public are phoning up the Military Charities asking why aren't the Military Charities helping her , going on from that we purchased a tent and all season sleeping bag when she was in a dour way by McDonalds a few months ago , then she was checked out for military Service etc , negative. .

The photo of the soldier with the SA80 is of a Medic who was awarded the Military Cross for carrying out a very courageous act while under sniper fire in Iraq.

Did a session at Blueschool House today covering the Military Charities Help Desk for SSAFA ( The Armed Forces Charity ) . I know that it cost a lot of money but I was quite impressed with the whole 9 yards. I think that it was a very good idea to put the three agencies under one roof .

I of course speak / write as a layman who know nothing about how the grownup think. My first impression of the building plus the Service that the Reception Staff were giving to the public was in my opinion excellent .

The Welsh Water works on the A49 , Canon Pyon Road and Three Elms Rd etc are due to start soon .......

just a reminder - The Military Charities Help Desk will also be moving to Blueschool House , first interview room on the right after entering the building.

SSAFA ( The Armed Forces Charity ) will be there every Tuesday 1000 to 1400 to give help and advice to Serving members of the Armed Forces , Veterans and their families .No appointment required .

If you are aware of anybody who may benifit from a chat with a SSAFA Caseworker advise them to attend the Help Desk during the opening hours or phone SSAFA 24/7 telephone number .

The majority of motorists and pedal cyclists comply with the Law 100% .

It's the small minority that let their side down,

About 6 months ago I was in the Pedestrian area of Commercial Road leading from High Town when I saw a Postman riding , I presume an issued Royal Mail pedal cycle, at the same time he appeared to be texting - therefore not looking where he was going .... Pedestrians were moving out of his way but the fixed Waste Bin by Nationwide wasn't ! The cycle hit the immovable object and the Postie slide forward off his saddle with a screech of pain !

Going on from that , most days I see cyclists riding on the pavement down Whitecross Rd / Eign St towards the town from the Sainsburys traffic lights dodging around the pedestrians . This will continue , I know , until a pedestrian is injured . There have been a number of verbal confrontations between the cyclists and pedestrians along this stretch of pavement.

We drive past this location every day , it's always being used by youngsters , super to see that something quite reasonable in cost is being used to the full and may it continue .

77 homes for people that are desperate for a good roof over their heads - that is really good news . ( They certainly didn't want. Bobby47 and me climbing on the roof of the buildings to protest with Dippy feeding us takeaways from some local takeaway with a -1 for food hygiene on the door ! )

I do really hope that consideration is also given to Veterans who I know from first hand experiences as volunteer with SSAFA are struggling to find permanent housing.

Gelpack Excelsior, which is based off Grandstand Road, has agreed a new funding deal with Bibby Financial Services (BFS), as part of a business loan secured on its assets.

The business produces films, bags, liners and sacks for a range of industry sectors, including food and beverage, medical and pharmaceutical, bedding and furniture manufacturing. It is one of the largest privately owned polyethylene packaging manufacturers

Sadly in the recent past some of the comments on this site have been so similar and slid so low to some of the rubbish nonsense on the HT Comments.

We all enjoy a discussion and quite rightly do not always agree with some of the comment but it's the way we argue against other comments that count , plus of course the way it's managed.

The West Mercia Police have put up for auction Vehicle Registration Mark .... AB1 , the VRM was issued to the Worcestershire Chief Constable in 1908 . They hope to raise £250,000.

It appears that this had not gone down well with a number of people including retired Police Officers - they have signed a petition urging the Force to keep the plate. More than 700 people have signed it.

Okay no need to be teacher, I find this quite patronising and I am sure ragwert does too. It is not difficult to work out what people are saying.

 

And yet you allow post 66 , appears double standards again .

These 'crimes' must include people reporting that their vehicles have been hit by other vehicles,ie wing mirrors being knocked off or smashed.

I would have thought that if a vehicle knocks off another vehicles wing mirror when passing that would be a Road Traffic Collision not Criminal Damage and therefore not a reportable crime but maybe a reportable RTC if names and addresses etc were not exchanged at the time

Had an experience in Wetherspoons last November - I know it's a tip ,even after their £500,000 refurbishment and the drinks are cheap , it was convientant for us after Mrs U had finished her stint as a volunteer at the RSPCS shop opposite.

I complained to the Management bar staff who wished they were elsewhere and about the tables stacked high with places and leftover food not being cleared , his reply was , if you don't like it go somewhere else , I haven't got the staff to clear the tables ! Soooooo I wrote to Wetherspoons HO to complain , I then received a tele call from the Manager of the pub apologising for his comments , asked me to describe the staff member , that was very easy .......the Manager replied that he had had 3 other complaints about this staff member that week - my comment was why was he still,working for you ? Long story short , he sent me a letter which had my address on and the Sentance " further to your complaint regarding ( the above ) please present thus letter to receive two main course and two drinks on the house " to be honest my first though was that there was to much info on the letter and staff members could do all sorts of things to the meal so I didn't take up the offer however it wasn't wasted because a friend of Mrs U is very friendly with the Stsff and wad happy to take the risk . Would not enter that pub again.

Mrs U and I have used Hogarth's meeting up with a dear friend , between Wetherspoons and Yates since that experience - super pub at lunchtime , clean , tidy , good staff and manager . Do not do meals or allow children into the pub. I have nothing against children , in fact I was one many years ago ! but I am pleased that some pubs have this ban.

Just wondering why it has been reported that the Metpol are considering Corperate Msnslaughter Charges against a Company if everything was legal and complied with the present ( but apparently outdated ) laws and Fire Regs ?

Mrs U and I now use Burghill Golf Club to eat out at lunchtime - open to non members ,as we are . Good value , super Customer Services, super staff , meals very well cooked and presented plus excellent views from the resturant / bar. Two main meals for £10 ,sweets £3.50 each.

Going on from that Mrs U and I decided to try the Imperial for breakfast - excellent .arrived at 9.10am .the pub was as clean as a new pin . The lady that took our order and delivered it to the table had certainly been trained in Customer Service , meal excellent. Plus a man working behind the bar who may well have been the licensee stopped what he was going to pass the time of day with us. Go into some pubs X C they just keep their head down and ignore the customer . Very pleased with the pub , will certainly visit again for breakfast .

Re Ascari , another excellant breakfast and service , as Colin said , bit expensive .

Last November Mrs U and I went to the Monument ,Whitecross Rd for lunch , we both ordered steak which arrived tough as old boots - we complained to the Manager , his reply " I know what's wrong with that ! " he then removed the plates and two new steaks etc appeared .

Going on from that , our 54 Wedding anniversary in in the first two weeks of December , our Son and D in L who is Serving in RAF paid one of their rare visits to us and took us to the same pub . We all chose different main meal , Mrs U in her wisdom chose steak ,by 4pm that day she became very poorly - without going into detail her problems lasted until the first week in January - may well have been a coincidence but ............ Have we been there since ? No , would we go again - No.

One can see it on TV but going to the scene would truly show a completely different picture , I would think that you came away quite sad , perhaps a little angry that because of complete disregard of Fire Regs this disaster occurred in the first place . It appears that Building Control Officers were signing this material off as acceptable . I am sure others can or have already explain this weakness .
