  1. I heard that this lady had completed the complete series of the I Spy books relating to HGVs , Cars , Pedal Cycles et al .during her stay on the Island.

Seriously , this lady must now move on , seek and accept the help and guidance which had and will continue to be offered to her.

    I wish her well.

  2. The Council Press Release which was published in the HT on 26thMay 2016 stated that the project would cost £950k and it will save £1.9 million .

It reported that the Council will pay £250,000 with the rest of the funding coming from DWP £400k and Home and Communities Agency £300k.

  3. From the BBC website today ...........

The UK government has announced plans to introduce drone registration and safety awareness courses for owners of the small unmanned aircraft.

It will affect anyone who owns a drone which weighs more than 250 grams (8oz).

Drone maker DJI said it was in favour of the measures.

There is no time frame or firm plans as to how the new rules will be enforced and the Department of Transport admitted that "the nuts and bolts still have to be ironed out".

The drone safety awareness test will involve potential flyers having to "prove that they understand UK safety, security and privacy regulations", it said.

The plans also include the extension of geo-fencing, in which no-fly zones are programmed into drones using GPS co-ordinates, around areas such as prisons and airports.

  4. From Google , I believe that the below was said - but as usual not in so many words in the Queen 's Speach .

While government and Ofgem believe that all consumers will benefit from having smart meters, they aren't compulsory and you can choose not to have one. ... If you do not want to have a smart meter installed now, you will still be able to have one installed (free of charge) at a later date.

  5. Bobby, pleased that you haven't moved onto the Island , we were worried about you lying on damp grass what with all your medicial problems plus of course you trying to keep your tabs dry and finding level ground for your glass . Plus of course trying to get to,High Town for your meals would have been difficult .

  6. Just listened to BBC local radio and the council have cut another million pounds on highway maintenance, so it looks as if we will have weeds growing up through the road as well as along the verges. At the same time Worcestershire have increased their highway maintenance by two million. No doubt we will be hearing from Jesse Norman our man in the Department of Transport?

I heard the same article - what surprised me was Herefordshire CC reply , they reported that they had spent £20 million on our roads, disappointed that the interviewer didn't ask only one more question " Over what period of time ? " Simple question begging an answer .

  7. Walked past the Town Hall this morning , the bench outside the main door leading to the Town Hall was covered in bird droppings, that's the big bird droppings that do bombing runs over High Town. It was apparent that these dropping had been covering the bench for a few days .

I have alway believed that first appearances / impressions count for a lot - when you go into a shop , meet a possible employee/ er ,parents of a lived one etc........plus of course a bench outside the Town Hall . ( I know that it's a little thing in the wider world of problems but ............! )

  8. Advice please. I have read the 80+ comments on the Topic , the topic was added in 2013 and wondering if there has been much change / update in respect of the advice given ?

I will keep it short , for whatever reason I parked in Morrisons car park at 10.10 on a Tuesday , paid my £1 , due to circumstances I won't bother you with ( Not a hospital visit ) at 12.35 I purchased another ticket for a £1. The car park was not full .

A couple of weeks later I received a Parking Charge Notice stating that I had parked for 3 hours 48 minutes . I Appealed because I still had the 2 tickets I purchased , I included in the letter that there was no loss to MorrIsons because I had paid my dues. The Appeal was unsuccessful, rejected on the basis that the maximum time allowed was exceeded.

I realised afterward that the maximum stay is 2 hrs 30 min. With no return in under 2 hours.

Question is ....Do I Appeal to POPLA ?

Or do nothing , ignore the incoming " threatening " letters .

  9.

They cannot inspect them every month! I see no reason why they cannot have annual inspections though[/quote

Surely IF there is a risk to health the inspection should be much more frequent than annual.

Going on from that perhaps the Council should pass a By Law stating that the Scores on the Doors MUST be stuck on the doors of the premises.

  10. Dippy and Bobby , thank you for your posts , I found them soul searching . There's no easy answer at the moment to my mind . The recent very sad events have certainly been a wake up call to the Govt including their highly paid Cival Servants

  11. If that's true it very sad and disappointing after all the hard work / efforts made by people organising the Petition etc. People do not waste their time going round with a Petition nor do people sign it if they disagree .

Will "they " have to publicise their reasons why it is closing ?

  12. Today we left our home in the Burghill area at 12.20 to drive to the Hospital to collect somebody from the dropping off area , I then drove to Hereford Crematorium , Arriving there at 13.20 - so 1 hour to drive no more than 9 miles . On the route I used I saw nothing which would encourage a holdup.

  13. Colin , the way legislation is written they can soon work out a possible offence if they want to . I suppose ( but what do I know ?) that they think that your comments might stir up racial hatred / tension .

Going on from that I can understand your flustration with WMP when nobody attended those two examples of incidences which apparently the Police should attend but send two Officers to your home , perhaps one of them was learning the job .

  14. Update ........initially it was thought that only near neighbours would attend the funeral - total 12 .

Using the Press and Social Media plus of course other forms of communication I would guess that as well as the 150 seated there was another 100 / 150 standing plus 10 Standard Bearers . The attendees included the majority of Military Charities , Serving members of the Armed Forces , WMP ,Veterans from all 3 Services and members of the Public .

It was a super send off to this Veteran who won the DFC at the age of 20 .

  15.

This is being circulated by SSAFA HEREFORDSHIRE and other Vet Groups.

    HELP WANTED! PLEASE SHARE.

We have had a request from the Welfare Officer at the Barracks asking us to attend the funeral of a John Ellis DFC who has no family to attend. He only has a sister who is in her 90s and is not well enough to attend.

John Ellis was a Pilot Officer serving on 466 (RAAF) Sqn when he was awarded the DFC and rose to the rank of Flt Lt and remained in the RAF until around 1960.

Please can we pass the word around and try and get as many as we can to attend his funeral.

Mrs Ubique and I will be attending plus others from local Veteran Groups

The funeral will be held on Thursday 8th June 2017 at 13:30 at Hereford crematorium.

    Thank you.
