I read on the web the other week that a recycle bin wasn't collected as someone spotted a greasy pizza box in it. Apparently the contamination would cause the whole lorry load to be effected.

I know for a fact that my recycled items have got grease/residue on them so what is the real story here? How many bin loads have to be land filled for dodgy content ?

In Herefordshire? I know people who live in other places where I would not be surprised if it was true, but I would be surprised if it was Herefordshire.

I only have one bin in my kitchen, I just rinse and gather a small amount of recycling and take out into the recycle bin, it's really not that much effort in all honesty.

I don't have a recycling bin, but I did have a letter a couple of years back to say I could have one as my property was suitable. I do not think so since I have step.  Just because my next door neighbour pull their bins up their steps, do not mean I am going to.

i doubt my recycling is enough to collect every month never mind every fortnight. a few tins, the Hereford times, maybe a couple of small boxes and that is it.

Adrian why on earth in this day and age are you not doing your bit by recycling? Really it takes a few extra's seconds when throwing your rubbish out. Now, I hardly have any normal household waste, less than a bag every two weeks.

Council tax goes up and yet we get less service, we now get a limited bin collection once every two weeks, if it carry on they will want us to sweep the road as it is people are cutting grass and doing other jobs the council should be doing.

I also do not have that much rubbish, I  put one  black bag out a fortnight normally even without recycling, if I recycled would only be using half a bag, since I now have to pay for my black bags I want the most from them. I may sometimes have more than one black bag outside my place, but the rest are not normally mine.

A lot of the recycling goes over the China or some other country, so what is the point  when all that fuel used to send it abroad.

I really do not want two bins in my kitchen, I do not have the room anyway and another reason is I do not see why I should pay to wash out  tins.

Also, I can not be bothered.

  3. I don't recycle, it all goes in the black bag, so no chance of polyphene bags going into the clear bags.

but while we are on that subject, my next door neighbour have black and green bins and sometimes put more recycling out than what the green bin can hold, but because they have a bin they can not get clear bags for the extra. If the council want people to recycle, why can't they give extra clear bags to people with bins?

Ok I give my neighbour mine as I do not use them, but if I did they would be stuck.

  4. I saw in the HT a couple of months back or so a notice asking permission from the company that owns the Cosy club, so I had a idea they was comming here.

Not for me, it falls in the same type of place as Frankie and Benny, Nandos, and other places of that type. I like cheap and cheerful and looking at the menu for the cosy club, that is not what they are.

Weatherspoons is my type of thing.

  5. Great idea. I wish them every success.

I thoroughly agree about BBC H&W being bland. Time was (soon after it launched) when the delightful Jane Garvey would light up its airwaves. But of course she got 'poached' by Head Office - and look where she is now!

they need to advertise well and need to offer something different, certainly being on DAb only, still many people out there that do not own a DAB radio. My Dab radio is by the side of my bed and it is only really used when I go to bed and to wake me up in the morning and normally stuck on Fm (sunshine)

It takes a brave person to launch a new station, certainly a local one since the amount of people listening to radio is dropping. I only know a couple of people that have DAB radio in their house, I know a few that got it in new cars.

I do wish them all the luck, because I think they will need it.

  6. Three pound for a pint of carling at the snooker club in Coningsby St where I go.

Apart from that I usually on drink at home thesedays (occasionally!) as it is affordable to do so then.

That is not beer, that is mass produce muck. :)

Beer in hand sells beer and so does the Barrels, now that is decent beer for a good price.

  7. Moan  Moan  Moan.  All it seems to me is that a firm stands up and delivers a service and decides to charge a bit more for doing it. Wake up people!!  If they are the only ones delivering the bus service, they can charge what the hell they want. If you don't want to relieve the Hereford traffic problem then take your car, pay 2-3 pound for parking, plus your petrol costs and suffer. Yeoman's have given 30+ people jobs. Their families are, I suspect, extremely grateful. Herefordman75 and Adrian Symonds wind your necks in. Be grateful.

It is not really a small increase, £2 now just to go into town from the college estate. I do not drive,  so if I go shopping, you know this shop local thing, not that is much in town that is local, I got to get a bus to go home or a taxi and with the amount of traffic getting a taxi is getting more expensive.

People need to moan, give it time and Hereford will come to a standstill and even less people will want to visit here, saying that I wonder why people want to anyway.

Still I live in town, so I can walk, I just watch the silly ones stuck in traffic.

  8. What the hell is wrong with this city? Get a local company to take over the bus service and then they put the price up, even on bus routes they was doing before First pulled out.

Not just 5p opr 10p, oh no, 20p more expensive now. from town to college Green I just paid £2.00 instead of £1,80. i tend not to use the bus much as it is, I use my legs, so I will be using a lot less, just buying small bits at a time.

No wonder people do not use the buses and the city comes to a standstill most days, I think that what the council wants so they can spend our money on roads that do nothing, so they can build more houses. if people got any sense they would not come to live here. Hereford used to be a nice place to live, but over the last few years it have become a dump, with a council that do not care about the city itself as long as big business is cared for.

I can understand why youngsters go and never come back, they got sense.

  9. I would send them a bill for the time wasted and for the cost of the phone call for listening to their silly message. i bet they are the first to moan if they ring a company for something and get the same thing.

Herefordshire council, we are your customers, time you treated us like it and stop treating us like we don't matter. I suppose once you got our money from Council tax, you do not really care.

    I hate our council

  10. I was thinking of going, I am glad I did not now.

I do understand how much things cost to run, my brother organised a few music festivals in Hereford and hiring loos, generators, lighting, security, it all cost money and that don't include the bands, stage, PA system . But people did not want to pay, trying to get in free of charge and people complaining about the noise, sounds about the norm in Hereford to be honest.

I can also understand why the security of the cider and sausage festival took food and drink from visitors to a certain extent, that is how they will make their money is via the drink and food. But taking it from kids was wrong.

But going by the leaflet I had through the door I did think the festival was to do with Herefordshire cider and sausages made by local producers.

i am sure someone could do better,  booze from local producers. sausages from local producers and what about local bands? Plenty of good bands in Herefordshire to use instead of bands trying to sound like another band.

Shame really, I also know of people who came to Hereford for this and left disappointed, and saying if this is the best Hereford can do, then don't bother again.

  11. How many CCTVs and how much more lighting? The GWW do not start at Hunderton and end at Sainsburys, it goes past Redhill one way and goes up towards the Courtyard the other way. this is the way I walk when I go to and from work and also to visit my Dad.

The LED lighting is not that good, it produces dark shadows, get some decent lighting on there and let stop putting these awful lights around the streets of Hereford.

I have other plans for Thursday, so I can't go.

  12. Times have changed and if you visit most European countries you will find large supermarkets and retailers open on Sundays, to be honest its more of an inconvenience when they are closed sometimes. I went to Asda a few weeks ago forgetting it was Sunday and it was not until I got there I realised lol. (I did moan to myself)

Do we need to do things just because another country does it?

  13. I work 12 hour shifts including weekends at times, so extended opening hours on a Sunday would be good for me.

So you work 12 hours everyday?

Some stores are open 24 hours, apart from the weekend, can you not find the time to shop then?

I know that some people like the NHS and emergency services have to work Sundays, bank holidays and even Christmas day and I am grateful for them doing so, but it seems like there is no break at all and everyday is just like the one before.

People are not going to die because they have to wait until the next day to get a bit of food and if you are in that much of a rush for it, there are still plenty of smaller stores open.

As I said I work Sundays anyway or i will do when I get back to work full time, a 9 hour shift, so the stores opening later will not affect me in that way. But I do feel we need that one day to wind down.

  14. I voted IOC locally and Tory in the general election but thats my business, no good blaming David Cameron and his crew was it? If it wasn't for the previous governments overspending we wouldn't have to be making these cuts now!

All as bad as each other to be honest,

  15. I think this is a bad idea, no doubt a tory thing to help their business mates get even more money so they can give even more money to the Tory party.

I am not religious, but I think it would be nice if we could do without going shopping for at least one day a week. With 24 hour shopping and online shopping, surly we do not need even more hours for people to shop.

People are forced to work sundays in stores these days, certainly when they start the new job, it is you work sunday because that is the way it is or you do not have a job.

I work Sundays, while I was not forced into it as such in that I would lose my job, the way things was worded was not nice.

  16. To be honest, getting rid of a few banners is not going to improve Hereford. Hereford need a lot of work doing to it, i know many people who used to come here and now will not set foot here.  I can understand why as well.

I am getting to the stage where I am getting fed up of the place.

Went into town this afternoon, Eign gate was a mess, bottles, tins and other rubbish all over the place.

I bet if that happened in the old market it would be sorted out.

  17. Its a sad state of affairs yes, but I'm sure they chose the OLM for a commercial reason knowing they will get far more footfall. As for high town, until it is rejuvenated and the council make a substantial  effort to attract businesses and investment to high town, I do not blame any business for choosing the OLM instead.

You really expect the council to care about High Town? The council cares about very little unless it suits them. They say anbout cuts, but they do not cut their wages.

politicians the world over and yet they expect us to trust them.,

  18. I doubt I ever will .... I have an affinity to the Historic core ....

To be honest, there is very little reason to go into the city centre, with more shops closing and less choice, it is sometimes better to get things online.

Looking for some slippers and do you think I could find anything decent in the city centre? someone did say about shoezone, I forgot about them, I will have a look when I next go into town.

Yesterday the city centre was full of stalls about caring or that sort of thing, found it hard to move around, not really the place for a load of stalls, certainly not on the school holidays. The open market I have no problem with as they are not blocking the who9le of high town.

As for the old Market, The restaurants I have little interest in, i went into Mcdonalds yesterday for the first time for 35 years, i doubt i will step in there for another 35 years. I may have a coffee in town if I am in town with mates and that is ti.

To be honest if I am by myself, I just go into town, get what I want and get out as quick as possible.

Hereford don't do anything for me any more

  19. While i am pleased that Yeomans is going to carry on with the services, nice to have a local company, i do think this is a opportunity missed to integrate the transport in Hereford. so let someone buy  a day, week or month ticket and that allows then travel in the city for that amount of time.

it will not happen in Hereford as we are so far behind any other place, other places got a far better transport system. You never know it may take some of the cars off the road.

  20. I see from The Council website that The Beefy Boys (of burger fame) have applied for a licence for Pavillion 3 at The Old Market. To run from 9 Sept. 2015.

They want authority, between 0700 - 0200, to play music and supply food/alcohol in a Restaurant setting with outdoor seating. To include allowing people to take food/drink off the premises.

    Licensing Application

I'm not entirely sure where Pavillion 3 is but someone here will know ...

And I will still not step a foot in the place.
