  1. Can I say again - The police reflect society - the good, the bad and the ugly side of it.

"Langers" was a good copper on the beat.

I dont know too much about what he was like in the bedroom, however the fact that someone was caught "shagging" whilst at work is what we are dealing with here.

How many employers have been caught out shagging employees - loads! Im not saying its right, but it happens.

Then we could move onto religion - how many people of the cloth - who care for their parishioners end up sleeping with them. Again, Im not saying its right, but it happens.

However - when you are in the police - you get a jail sentence for it. That - In my personal opinion is harsh, not only that - he has lost his pension, reputation and not only that - it will put a heavy strain on his new marriage, all because he did what many men do.

  2. All the grass cutting savings are probably being delivered thru the letterbox of The Bouvrie Guest House ...

Seen it with my own eyes (payments) ...  albeit historical ... I have no reason to believe things have changed ...

I'm not suggesting any illegal activity ... I'm just pointing to the fact that The Council is paying quite large amounts to the Bed & Breakfast type providers for pretty rubbish accommodation so as to house the usual people who end up there ...

If you asked the Council to say how much they were paying for this today with a FOI request they would obviously refuse for the usual reasons ...

Roger, dearest, your posts above, from my humble point of view appear to be libellous to me.

Now, I looked up the place, the guys who owns it is a Hereford Business man, a decent hard working guy, who in this business has a contract with the council.

We may not agree on how much the contract is worth, but he certianly hasnt done anything wrong.

Your first post here implied a "bung" - that guest house has nothing to do with bins, grass cutting, toilets, radar keys etc, just simply a B&B that used to have a contract with the council.

IF this guest house has been used by the council to put people up in times of need, it has NOTHING to do with our BIN collections!

I personally think you are out of line here.

  3. Seen it with my own eyes (payments) ...  albeit historical ... I have no reason to believe things have changed ...

Roger - is this something you saw when you were a police officer?

    Did you report it?

Are you really saying Council staff "bunged" the owner of this place money?

those are very big claims you make.

  4. All the grass cutting savings are probably being delivered thru the letterbox of The Bouvrie Guest House ...

Go on then Roger - who owns this place?

Just out of interest - any evidence on your "probably" claim?

    A single shred?

Ill take a guess? Is it some "big wig" at the council whom you blame for all things bad in Hereford.

But - IF this person turns out to run the traffic light management system, ill go there myself and explain my thoughts to them!

  5. I think we are allowed to meander around topics - thats what makes great message boards!

I think you are right about Children with SEN.

My point, as I have tried to make before - we are in deep ship, and in a way I feel a little sorry for those having to make those decisions now, for other peoples past mistakes.

I remember going to a meeting a while ago, asking what people would be "happy" to cut back on - there was very little agreement in the room, and thats the problem.

I can live with every other week on the bins, but what concerns me more is the awful state of our care of those who cant properly help themselves.

No one - wants to cut back on those services, and I really wouldnt want to be "the guy" who has to make those decisions.

  6. Hi Stupid Frustration......I agree with you to a point!!

    Yes, we are absolutely broke.

Yes, we have to accept that the services we are used to are going to be reduced.

I would add, that the services we do receive, have to be prioritised. i.e.. Adult/ Children's Services and Safeguarding.

BUT! With no money in the pot, and the taxpayer having reduced services, why is it that the question " How many people have received pay rises since the restructuring process began?" remains unanswered........

I don't take issue with cuts in service when the purse is empty, but I do take issue when the council seem to find a little bit stashed away, and use it to increase the pay of managers!

I think I agree with you......partly agreeing with me!

I dont work for the council, but for decisions to be made to cut funding to Adult care and Childrens services BEFORE we get to grass cutting and saving £500,000 on bin collection, shows how bad things are.

If we are now down to saving amounts like £500,000 - taking the back lash from the public for it, for what? £10,000 a week?

I am under the impression that putting a child into a care home is approximately £5k a week!

Im sure - the care homes can do the job for £4,500 a week. That would be a HUGE saving right there, and the private companies, the care homes would just have to take the hit in profits!

Grass Cutting - If im honest - I perhaps didnt see the argument at first, but only a few weeks down the "road" - we are now in a dangerous place with our verges, and I fear, taking out the human cost, the hospital costs may increase from more road traffic accidents, plus the other costs of the city doesnt look smart for tourism.

The loos - from the top of my head were something like £100,000 a year to keep open, we shut them to save that money.

The well must be VERY dry for these decisions to be taken.

  7. Here we go again.

So - WE HAVE NO MONEY.

There HAVE to be cut backs.

So - we get new enclosed bins, the size of wheele bins, to put our black bin liners in with general rubbish.

They are collected every other week.

Our rubbish is safe from street animals, probably seagulls too, as they wont be able to get to any food debris that the dogs/cats/fox's/rats dont get to first.

It saves the council - £500,000.

Probably saves the planet a bit too as the bin lorrys wont be out every week.

    What is the problem here?

Some people dont get - we cant have all the services we used to have in the way we used to have them.

  8. and there are some extremely sad stories out there.

But sadly - as these people dont vote, no one seems to care.

Thats not true -  a lot of people care - but budgets to help have been reduced I would assume.

I have a friend who has a business in a "back street" of Hereford and she tells me she is getting a lot more homeless around the back streets - existing there. Its no life at all is it.

    Very sad really.

  9. My $0.02 - as he is an older gentleman - I hope he is not trying to climb the slippery pole - and being free from that climb he may take our paper back to being a good local publication for local people.

I hear he has won the staff round in his first week!

Shows how bad the last "guy" was

  10. Roger is just an irritating little man, a little crazy I hear.

Ian Langford was a good copper - and this is unfortunate for him.

If Roger knew of wrong doings - he should have reported them up the chain, I wonder if he did.

Once again, people do stupid things - and having sex on duty is not smart, but equally - not the biggest crime in the world.

There are much worse wrong doings going on every day in this world/county/town but they never get "done".

A good beat copper has sex on duty - not smart and maybe a crime in the world of the police, but having sex whilst at work, well, he wouldnt be the first and I doubt the last!

  11. Whilst you are funny Bobby - and you really are - this is one of the first things I have disagreed with you on.

You will still pay, as will I, unhappy in what we get in return, but, we will still pay.

Bobby - you are clearly a smart man - put your writing talents to better pursuits of happiness.

Why not join "its our county" and change things that way?

  12. No one can defend hoople

The BID - is business owners in the centre of town trying to create a better, busier more attractive town centre for all.

I'm thinking about joining the group to add my $0.02

At this stage they are looking for people's views who have an interest in seeing the historic core do well.

  13. Can I just defend the bulmer foundation.

In essence - Heineken give money to the bummer foundation - in fact Heineken give A LOT of money to the bulmer foundation.

The foundation has local people on it who then put that money into good initiatives for the town.

The bulmer foundation are good people trying to do good things for the Hereford community and costing nothing to the public purse only private business ie Heineken
