  1. I read Megilleland's link earlier - Remember this from 2013. Post 53 above.

I remembered it very well. I looked at the comments underneath. We're all there : Me, Bobby, Megilleland, Two Wheels, Flam, etc..... it's nearly three years ago now.

Three years. And we'd been blogging for quite some time prior to that.

    God I'm so depressed.

    Nothing changes.

  2. Hi Denise, whilst perusing Megilleland's link earlier, I did read that employees who are Band 7 or above, must seek permission from the director before undertaking any other paid employment. So this has obviously been approved, and all is fine and dandy with this scenario.

As you say, I would have thought that job - on that salary - was a full time role, requiring a full time commitment.

But, I know very little about how these things work.....!

  3. Have just read the HCS discussion - thanks for that link, TWG. Makes for an interesting read, doesn't it?

I was relieved that they couldn't make head nor tail of the dreadful 'Quartering ' exercise either....!

Pointless? Or a cynical way of getting the word 'culture' in at every opportunity... in an attempt to see our bid to become City of Culture a reality?

  4. Oh. I see what you mean. Somebody has been busy with the crayons.

    So let's see.

We have The Riverside Quarter.... containing the river.

Then The Sports and Culture Quarter, containing the football ground and The Courtyard. (Minus council funding.)

Also The Independent Cultural Quarter. Let's have a think... Church Street, the closed library and museum, and The Cathedral???

And  The University and Business Quarter. Hmmm.

I note that the transport hub still makes it onto the plan.

Pray tell, what cycle scheme is to be implemented along St Owen's Street? I hope it's a more thought out than some of the current offerings.

  5. Interesting. Thanks Colin, for posting this.

So.... No mention of why Tony saw fit to sack Graham? And his workload is now shared between two? As is Pats.

And I see Roger is back in the fold. The last I heard of him he was off.... somewhere.

"Cllr Phillips will step down from the cabinet to spend more time and expertise on The Local Enterprise Partnership." Statement issued 31st October 2013.

He was all set to go looking for 'funding'??? Was he successful? Who knows.

Do all of these 'supporting roles' require 'supporting allowances' to go with them?

  6. Hi Maggie, I believe 'time slots' are allocated on a first come, first served basis. People who have been allocated time to speak can opt to share their minutes with another, or include their views.

This is actually more time, and more speakers than is usually allowed.

As someone who wrote a letter of objection, I received details of the plan to allow more speakers/more time through the post last week. It was signed by Kelly Gibbons from the planning department. The list of who has been successful in applying for a slot will be available the day before the hearing.

We had a lot of discussions about this when we were trying to stop the demolition of The Working Boys Home. It is best to try to get interested parties together and decide who will be the most effective people to speak.

  7. Denise, you ask why this chap has been promoted to the dizzying height of our council cabinet...

As you say, he is a relative 'newbie'.

    Soooooo......

Possibly malleable. Possibly naïve. Possibly keen to get ahead.

So many possibilities as to why someone so relatively inexperienced has become the chosen one...

  8. Hello ipusseycat, glad your husband enjoyed the day.

I am though, a tad confused..... I've just been catching up on the HC farms thread, and noticed a comment from you on the 11th April....' There was over 3,000 watching the game on Saturday. My wife dropped me off to watch the game and she went shopping.'

So.... the question is, are you Mr Ipusseycat, or Mrs Ipusseycat.....or are you both commenting from the same account???

    Just curious!

Back to the thread....although I've never been a fan of football, the team really have done our city proud. Congratulations to all of the players, club staff and of course, the supporters. A great season.

AV..your comment above. Hilarious! Funniest thing I've read on here in a while!

Perhaps we should change #find Phil to #blame Phil....!

  9. Thanks so much, Trusty Two Wheels!

Hard to believe it's almost two years since Megilleland started that thread..... time flies when you're having fun..... or an alternative view point might be that when it comes to making disastrous decisions, which have far reaching consequences for our city and its residents when implemented by or esteemed council - nothing changes....

But I try hard not to be too cynical, so I'll stick with the first option!

  10. If those countries want to be considered part of Europe, then they SHOULD be willing to accept refugees. The fact that they are not, is quite frankly shameful.

The only pattern I see forming, is that all bigots like to sing the same song.... regardless of where they are from.

  11. Positive news!

David Cameron has been forced into a U turn... the UK will now accept some of the unaccompanied refugee children who are in Europe!

Pity he had to be shamed into it.

    Personally, I'm delighted.
