  1. No, it's more - that was the cost to consultants. In addition there was some 2900 hours of (uncosted) staff time*. Not to mention the wasted time by everyone in the Council trying to find pages that no longer exist - I spoke to someone in BBLP who wasn't at all amused that links to a lot of their documents no longer worked.

*Even at a conservative £30ph inc employers overheads, this adds a further £87k …

  2. The hugely expensive and ambitious ESG was abandoned after just 7 years into its 20 year life - once the money men had bled the Council dry over the OLM, it was quietly put to sleep. Next on the list was to have been the Civic Quarter … No surprise that a new plan is being worked on with no consultation and with more than four quarters …

  3. None of these roads are trunk roads - they are all under the direct control of the Council. We pay for the best and get the worst - this is lazy, complacent engineering which no doubt ticks all the safety audits, but completely screws up the City. Officers should be taking a pro-active view of proposals and briefing consultants on what is required - not the other way round. Similarly they should deb banging the table to get things working when they are broken. Bottom line is that people are not doing the job they are paid very well to do. Where are the Councillors in all of this? Nowhere to be seen.

  4. A name to watch - Gigaclear an ultrafast network provider.  This company could well be picking up the areas that BT have failed to reach in Herefordshire  despite BT receiving how much of our money.

Gigaclear are being used by other Councils so no doubt somebody knows somebody etc ..................

More than twice the cost of my present BT fibre broadband for the same speed (50Mbps) plus a load of serious charges for cabling - I don't think so.

  5.

Mayor Jim Kenyon has put forward his idea's of additional river crossings for Hereford to help reduce the city's congestion problems.

    See HT article below:

I was unable to attend the meeting on Friday due to work commitments however I understand that only 11 voted in favour with 34 voting against it and 1 abstention.

Okay let's start naming those who objected for a start!

A lot of this is more to do with with some councillors not liking others! It is a complete joke and these councillors should be working for the people of Hereford and not their own ego's!

Fair play to Jim Kenyon for trying...

It was a named vote, so it will be in the minutes in due course.

  6. As I said further up the thread, the steady trickle of faults logged on fixmystreet.com has turned into a veritable flood. It does seem that maintenance of our roads seems to have ground to an almost complete halt - really, what is going on? £20m a year to BBLP for this? Any Councillors care to advise?

  7. borked is that a word?

    Indeed it is. Urban dictionary succinctly defines it is;

To have totally ****** something up. Usually by doing something stupid. Specifically used to describe technology that is broken.

The site is once again unborked, but for how long?

  8. The Holme Lacy site is the subject of a Council 'consultation' at the moment. The site will be sold and the funds put into the schools pot. Oh wait, the consultation hasn't finished yet. Council website is completely borked at the moment so you can't see it anyway!

  9. Just wasted 40 minutes trying to submit a pre-app - twice - jumped through all the hoops, pressed the submit... and ... nothing. Filled in the contact form to complain, pressed the submit... and ... nothing

So, we've no doubt paid spacecraft digital a small fortune and they've jumped in saying "We are experts in understanding your organisation and helping you realise your desired outcomes. That’s our commitment, our passion." Yeah, right.

  10. It's been painted yet again, this time terracotta wall with black shopfront - it looks a whole lot better than the colours allegedly chosen by Planning and left half finished. Obviously they haven't bothered with anything so inconvenient as a planning permission, but hey ho.

  11. I really don't like the new logo. It is not attractive, not friendly. What was supposed to be wrong with the green apple?

We'll never know. Nor will we know the true cost of the new one. We do know it won't make a jot of difference, save to leave us even poorer.

As British Airways found when it changed its plane tailfins, while a rebrand can breathe new life into a company it can all go horribly wrong if it isn't embraced by customers. http://www.businesszone.co.uk/branding-disasters-the-rebranding-of-british-airways
