Correct. Waterstones WILL only be trading from the ground floor, regardless of planning permission above the store.
IIRC the kettle is outside the copper kettle at the bottom of Aylestone Hill.
What, the shop that's now Legge's?
I thought there was some covenant on the Waterstone's building that meant the kettle had to be there for x number of hundred years?

When was that picture taken Ragwert?
-
Yes Denise, it was discussed quite some time ago now, can't believe it's two years though (!), and it had been"missing" for a fair amount of time even then! Guess it's very shiny by now....
-
Let's hope they reinstate the copper kettle on the outside!

One question, even for those that are not in favour of this move, what bad things can you see coming out of this?? I can only see positives, for others, maybe not for me, but what negatives are there?
Stop moaning.

Get your sleeping bag Ragwert!

Well Harry, almost as many of us voted to stay, and even after Brexit we are still going to have a huge number of "foreigners" living in our midst, so anything that improves people's understanding of those who just happen to have originally come from over 400 miles away has to be useful?

Sorry Glenda, and yes Adrian, I was joking, although.......

A joke I hope, not that i go over to that side of the river much these days.
I remember when those toilets was built, remember popping a stone in the path, well it was beside the path, A builder told me i could, I was only young. shows how long they been up.

I hope they don't have a chap stationed within the coned off area sitting in a van with the engine running all day, just to police the one way system. Don't know quite what it achieves anyway, they're usually just sat looking at their phone, or asleep (I kid you not).
-
It gets better. The warning signs put in place a couple of weeks ago said the road would be closed from tomorrow! They came along just before lunch and took all the cones away and reopened the road.
Guess it will all be done again tomorrow.
Hysterical !!

A Happy New Year to one and all.

They do have parking Harry, or at least, they did, in a yard accessed from Aubrey Street, behind the burger shop.

Wow. I just looked at the EE website. Things have moved on great deal since I last looked at this type of thing. They have 64GB of data at 4G speeds for £30 a month. Not a bad deal really. I guess the other networks do similar deals. As long as you live in a good coverage area this should be one in the eye for BT.
-
I see their website effectively says this is going ahead!

Hi 2wg.
The tiny URL link isn't working😕

Let's hope they're all OK.

Most of the money will be for cutting congestion and upgrades to local roads and public transport networks.
I saw this on the BBC and thought you should see it:
Autumn Statement: £1.3bn to target congestion roads - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-38041466

Dare we even hope???
This from the BBC's news website this morning:
An extra £1.3bn is to be spent on improvingBritain's roads, Chancellor Philip Hammondwill say in his first Autumn Statement.

Whilst I agree with greenknight's sentiment I cannot help but feel that in many ways our high streets across the nation are facing a period of upheaval. Little things we do are not going to effect the groundswell change that is gathering pace. I don't claim to have the answers, I'm not happy about it, and I'm certainly not knocking M&S, just feel that we're all helpless passengers.
