The reason the council want a bypass is so that they can build more houses up to the road and get more council tax. These households will be using their cars to come into the town centre and we are back where we started jammed up for a few hours a day. The council needs to remove cars from the centre and build more housing on the car parks. Put the cars underground or up in the air and save space.

I agree with all of what you have said. And maybe have a park and ride on the outskirts of Hereford, that would free up the city centre.

The Regulatory Committee of Herefordshire Council met to hear The Newton Farm Town Green proposal yesterday 2nd November, unfortunately it was found necessary to defere the hearing, due to insufficent time was alotted to permit this difficult and high-profile matter to be dealth with.

A new date for the hearing will be in either early December or January next year. This will be an all day meeting with a break for lunch to continue in the afternoon.

 

The Regulatory Committee and the council have known for a few weeks that a whole day was needed to hear this.So why did they waste everyones time and money and not rearrange the hearing for the full day. :Angry_32:

Well I have considered a City Forum and that may still happen in the future.

 

I do not give preferences to any councillor? please explain what you are referring too when you say preferences? I can only comment on Cllr Powell because she is the only active Cllr here! She has exactly the same forum permissions as you.

I think Roger Edwards is saying that it looks like you are giving preferences to Cllr Powell ,it is because she is the only councillor on here answering questions. While Cllr Powell is still on here answering everyones questions the other councillors will not come on here.

I can understand why as we all know some of the councillors and we all know which ones they are don't get on with each other :Sad_32: .

It would be nice to have other councillors on here one day and hopefully this will happen in the future as this is a good site

I am also in agreement with Colin's view, the admin of the BR site used this as an excuse for his ticket out! I would not of taken any legal action seriously as the costs involved in libel cases is extortionate and the funds would clearly have not been available, besides that there was not case of libel on his part.

 

I asked why the BR website was closed down and the editer sent this reply :- As I explained, I was threatened with defamation proceedings. From professional experience I know that these are both expensive and time-consuming even if you win.This is why it closed down and it is a pity it did close it was a good website and alot of the other councillors went on it .

This website is good and hopefully one day the other councillors will join it. :Smile_32:

 

 

It makes a nice change that you are complaining. It a pity you did not come to the pools meeting last Friday you would of heard the up to date news but I will be posting the minutes on BV when I receive them. Just one thing it is not this weekend that the tyres etc are being removed.

I was talking to one of the fishermen who is on the commitee and he said they are doing it not the council and they would be doing it this weekend.I did not know there was a meeting about the pools last Friday if I did I would have gone.You would have thought the meeting would have been advertised on here. And I only complain when there are things to complain about,I write a nice comment and I still get moaned at.No wonder a lot of the people which were on the other website don,t come on here who can blame them. 

 

 

I received this email back today;

I took my dogs for a walk up to Belmont Pools today and couldn't believe how clean it was. No rubbish left around the lake,there has been no bonfires it is a pleasent place to walk around now.There are lots of ducks and the turtle was sat on the log with them.And hundreds of Dragonflys,the only problem are the tyres which are still there but I was told they are cleaning it out this weekend.
Many thanks to the fishermen and women who have been looking after it they are a great credit to our community.

I totally agree that is a little dramatic! the police go up to the pools to stop children swimming because of the danger of drowning, the pools are deeper than you think. Also parents should know where their children are at all times, as a recent post advised of children swimming and going onto the building site.

Read my reply Persimmon solicitors are on the case in regard to the sewage escaping into the pools, and council officers as I ask them to were going to the pools today.

It's not a little dramatic if a child dies because of poisoning or drowning. :Sad_32: Lets hope the waste isn't poisonous.

That is disgusting and really needs removing as it say in the email it is clearly a health hazard, unreal this is 2010 and still we live in Victorian times.

The whole area needs cleaning up,I don't even take my dogs up there anymore just in case they drink the water or swim in it.Imagine children swimming in it .They could catch anything.

Putting signs up won't stop the kids swimming in it.

It needs fencing off and a dangerous keep out sign putting up.

I thought Cllr Powell's response was quite nice to be honest.Still some people, no matter how hard they try to be helpful will always be slammed, especially with nasty sarcastic comments like the one below, totally un-called for sorry but it was.

It is not a personal attack or a nasty sarcastic comment on cllr powell.
I was only commenting on what I saw up the lake today.Instead of asking another councillor about the rubbish up the lake why couldn,t cllr Powell have gone and seen for herself or just said she would look into it and see why Amey hadn't cleared the rubbish.
I thought that is why you are a councillor to help the people in the community.
I will not be writing any thing else on here because someone complains about things they don't like it was the same on the Belmont rural website and that closed down.   

I note your coments. speak to Cllr Edwards he tell's me he was there yesterday watching the swans and ducks while speaking to a man fishing, he says he saw no carpets etc.

Thats funny I took the dogs for a walk this morning, Wednesday and the Tyres are still in the same place as 2 months ago.They are on the far side by the Haywood lane and there is some about 30 yards east of the first lot,the carpet is still in the water on the north side.Are you not a local councillor representing Belmont are you not able to act on your own , it looks like you have to have to Councillor Edwards to hold your hand.

I have a lot of admarration for you and I think you are a good councillor ,but what suprises me is why do you need councillor Edwards help.

Belmont- just for clarification I was in hospital and then in recovery,under the care of my GP, I did not attend either Hereford city or District council meetings. lpussecat doesn't know what she is talking about!

Yes I do know what i'm talking about,I looked on the council website and according to that you attended council meetings in November 2009,feb 2010,march 2010 unless your name isn't Councillor G A Powell.It's there in black and white.

The pools were cleaned 2 weeks ago on a comunity tidy up by residents of Belmont, Newton Farm, South Wye regeneration team and members of the Belmont Pools Steering group which includes local ward members.

Have you walked around the lake since then, there is still tyres and Tvs, carpets in the lake so it has not been cleaned up.

Back in March there was a meeting at the Kindle Centre where a litter pick was arranged which was done,and for Amey to clear the lake and to do some pruning to branches.This was not done and it has been over 2 months since the meeting.

The picture is lovely, but if you walk around the lake it is a disgrace.Rubbish everywhere old tyres in the water and other items.

I walked around there a few weeks ago with my dogs and my mum and dad i felt embarressed taking them around it.

There needs to be a big clean up.Who is incharge of the lake, they need to pull there finger out and tidy it up.

I write in answer to Glenysp - do not attempt to put words in my mouth, you will not succeed. Parish councils have their place, but as I said can only put forward the council / councilors views to Herefordshire Council it is up to the local authority whether to act upon a parish council's recommendations or not. May I suggest that you attend Belmont Parish council meetings then you would see the procedure.

In regard to the election, there is only one vacancy you have three candidate's to choose from so two will be disappointed. It is my understanding that the election was called by thirteen parishioners who wish for an election, because they did not want someone to be co-opted onto the parish council. I might add that I did infact attend a meeting of the South Wye Regeneration Board in my representative role for the parish council on 10th March 2010 before the six months were up. Again it is obvious that you will not be voting for me or anyone else because your name is not on the electoral role, or at least the name you are using here! You and others have made very sarcastic remarks toward me on the other website, may I suggest you read the rules & guidelines of this site because you will not be allowed to do it on Belmont Voice. it is so easy is it not to hide behind an assumed name, I have more respect for someone who has the courage to use their own name, and meet me face to face to air their views of me when I am stood in front of them.

No body made sarcastic remarks to you on the other website ,they were just asking the questions every one was wondering.How could you attend the Hereford council meetings and not the Parish council meetings over 6 Months?.And if you get re elected will you attend the parish council meetings?.

Who actually closed the Belmont Rural Website, I think the evidence is clear to every one.I just wonder how long this website will stay open?.
