    Glenysp see below

The PUBLIC WILL DECIDE Yes Glenda they did.

I made the effort to attend Eastholme Community Centre for the count, it appears way out in front was a battle between Dawn Killeen, and Adrian Bridges, only five votes between them but way down bottom was Cllr Powell with only 30 votes.

Yes the public thought before they voted two things: -

    1. Who closed Belmont Rural website?
    2. Who's website instigated the election?

Writely or wrongly they made their decision.

Yes the public made their decision, and I accept that, there are no hard feelings on my part toward anyone.I would like to take this opportunity to thank the people who voted for me.
I congratulate Dawn on her appointment, let us see what she brings to the table!
it is a pity that only 5.2% of the public actually turn out to vote because as the electoral office advised me the parish council made the decision not to send out polling cards,so many people did not know where to vote, and according to another post on this website many people did not know there was an election.the electoral office also advised me that the enthusiasm was not there from the begining as the other two candidates left it to five minutes before the deadline to serve their nomination papers.
For clarification and answer to your questions:-

    1. The website manager closed Belmont Rural email facility, He had said on his website in an email He felt Belmont Voice was in competition to him both Admin and I advised him that was not true.
    2. Belmont Voice did not instigate the election, 13 people who sign the form has since advised me that they did that because they did not want the parish council to co-opt someone of their choosing to the position.

it is time now for everyone to move on, and put all this behind them as I have done, I have other important matters in hand that need my attention concerning the Belmont Ward.
  2. Colin

Many thanks for showing the truth, I am sorry that Cllr Edwards could not see the tiers; there is also a white TV in the bank. Also Colin there is a very large sack in the smaller pool filled with something light as it is half floating, if you get a chance can you get a picture for the website, so that if Cllr Powell be kind she could ask Amey to remove if it is feasible.

It is a shame that people keep dumping rubbish into the ponds, also litter, but I feel it is the society we live in, where the children are not educated about dumping rubbish at a young age. So can we blame the schools and the parents.

Roger see my reply to Frank above, Amey knows what the rubbish looks like I gave them this site address so that they can see the pictures.

  3. Glenda I thought I gave you a compliment, that when you put your mind to things no one can beat you. I am sorry you misunderstood me.

    :Winking_32:

maybe it was the way you phrased it, apology accepted.

  4. Frank you do not realise the politics of residents, some people come to Cllr Powell for certain reasons just think:-

1, Some people do not like Cllr Edwards and look towards Cllr Powell for help.

2, Some residents realise that Cllr Powell when she puts her mind to it, she gets things done.

Here are just two reasons why, there are others.

Roger - Just for clarification I give my constituents 100% of my time which ever part of the Belmont Ward they live in, so it is not a case of when I put my mind to it! maybe you should consider standing for election in 2011 then you would see for yourself how much time a councillor put in to represent their constituents.

  5. Adrian, these tyres are at the poolside, I have not been up there for a long while, but plan on taking a walk around maybe on Sunday. I hope that the council can get this cleaned up quickly as it looks beautiful from some of the pictures on here.

:Thumbs-Up: Frank- Amey has been in touch with me this afternoon because of my request yesterday, they are going up to the pools today with the community enforcement officers to look at the mess and also hopefully find some evidence as to who dumped the rubbish there, they have also assured me that the rubbish would be cleared this weekend. I have also ask for a notice to be put there to advise people will be prosecuted if cought fly tipping.

  6. Frank, me old mate there is a litter bin, but the fishermen do not know what it is for.

Frank - when the country park is completed you will see many facilities for everyone to enjoy what ever their age, the pools will form part of the park, and yes there will be bins for the rubbish. The park will be managed by the partners who help to buy the pools.

  7. Read again and you will see that she is passing the buck by refering the person to Cllr Edwards.

If you knew me, you would know I do not pass the buck to anyone, I just quoted what Cllr Edwards said to me when I rang him to ask if he had seen any rubbish at the pools, and advised her to ask him to confirm what he had said to me...

  8. Dear, dear,Colin

The reason Cllr Powell is the most active on this website, because it is her website, now! Now! I thought you had sussed it out by now.

The other Herefordshire councillors have been ask to join the website by admin and myself many times they have declined. There are parish councillors who have join BV, but have chosen just to be members not under the heading of councillor.

  9. Thank you Cllr Powell, can't belive the only cut these verges twice a year, that's unreal.

Frank, and everyone who has contacted me in regard to the grass verge along the main A465 from Belmont Abbey to the roundabout, I have just had Amey ring me again to say they will be cutting / weeding the whole length of the road on Monday morning. I will be at council Monday until the afternoon but will go up to see that the work has been carried out, and if not I will want to know why!

  10.

    Colin,

Beautiful pictures, but the camera does tell lies, take pictures of the tiers the white TV, there is a black bag and an old carpet that is visible as the water level drops. Look closer the rubbish left by the fishermen, the damage caused by them having bon fires against the old yew tree. The damage to the dam, and the litter is back. Cllr Edwards can be seen picking up litter and yet it comes back. Colin by the time the fishermen take over the lake for themselves you will not get the same pictures again, so make the most.

A lot of people would like to see fishing banned, as it is a cruel sport the way these fishermen behave. Would it not be nice if the ponds were to recover on their own with the help of the council, with seats, pick nick places, pond dipping for children, so that families can enjoy nature at its best in the middle of the city of Hereford at its best.

    Thumbs-Up.png:Winky:  Thumbs-Up.png:Winky:

I have again spoken with officers of Parks & countryside at Herefordshire Council yesterday morning inviting them to go to the north and east of the lakes to see the mess and report back to me before the close of day, This they did saying that since the community litter pick someone had been fly tipping from the area of Haywood Lane I have ask them to clear the area.

Going back to the grass verge on A465 Amey has just rang me to say that the grass cutters are going back today, I have also ask them again how many times a year they cut the grass verges and I was shocked to be told just twice a year, I told the officer that is not acceptable and I would be looking into their contract with Herefordshire Council for the verges to be cut when needed.
  11. Glenda, you are a lovely lady, but, but, and another but, who reads the notice boards, yes they are there when one drives past them, but to stop the car and get out to read with the kids screaming or want there lunch you must be joking. But as a Councillor you get copy, can you not post them for us all to see.

    :Winking_32: :Winking_32: :Winking_32:

As I advised I spoke to the new Inspector on Monday evening at my home about many things in the Belmont ward including notification of crime he advised if you click onto West Mercia website then click onto Belmont, and look for 'crime mapper' it is updated all the time. On another point you can get the newsletter on there or on this site under police.

I totally agree with you who looks at notice boards, may I suggest you contact the chairman Cllr Edwards or clerk of the parish council as they are the one's who saction and put information out in Belmont parish.

  12. I agree to lpusseycat because Ms Powell did not attend the Parish Meetings and only District thus she was always well enough to do the paid bit but not the volunteer part as Parish Councillor??? Perhaps is would have been prudent to wait till she was 100% fit and go for the full term in 2011.

Belmont- just for clarification I was in hospital and then in recovery, under the care of my GP, I did not attend either Hereford city or District council meetings. lpussecat doesn't know what she is talking about!

  13. Have you walked around the lake since then, there is still tyres and Tvs, carpets in the lake so it has not been cleaned up.

Back in March there was a meeting at the Kindle Centre where a litter pick was arranged which was done, and for Amey to clear the lake and to do some pruning to branches. This was not done and it has been over 2 months since the meeting.

I note your coments. speak to Cllr Edwards he tell's me he was there yesterday watching the swans and ducks while speaking to a man fishing, he says he saw no carpets etc.

  14. The pools were cleaned 2 weeks ago on a comunity tidy up by residents of Belmont, Newton Farm, South Wye regeneration team and members of the Belmont Pools Steering group which includes local ward members.

    Cllr Glenda Powell

  15. Frank- The consultation period has now finished, as a member of the Oval regeneration Steering group we will be having our next meeting on Wenesday next week, I have asked for a report so that I can put it into the Newton Farm newsletter that will be delivered first week in July. I will also put it on belmont voice.

    Cllr Glenda Powell

  16. Roger. The police send out monthly newsletters to Belmont ward councillors, for Belmont they should be on the notice boards, for Newton Farm it goes into my NHW notice board. The police also attends the BRPC meetings every 6 weeks to give a report. Recently they have 'gone to the people' with out door PACT meetings one at Tesco Belmont and Northolme Centre car park ( only one resident turn up at Northolme). The new South Wye Inspector is coming to my home on Monday to introduce himself to me, I will mention a weekly report and see what he says.

    Cllr Glenda Powell

  17. I write in answer to Glenysp - do not attempt to put words in my mouth, you will not succeed. Parish councils have their place, but as I said can only put forward the council / councilors views to Herefordshire Council it is up to the local authority whether to act upon a parish council's recommendations or not. May I suggest that you attend Belmont Parish council meetings then you would see the procedure.

In regard to the election, there is only one vacancy you have three candidate's to choose from so two will be disappointed. It is my understanding that the election was called by thirteen parishioners who wish for an election, because they did not want someone to be co-opted onto the parish council. I might add that I did infact attend a meeting of the South Wye Regeneration Board in my representative role for the parish council on 10th March 2010 before the six months were up. Again it is obvious that you will not be voting for me or anyone else because your name is not on the electoral role, or at least the name you are using here! You and others have made very sarcastic remarks toward me on the other website, may I suggest you read the rules & guidelines of this site because you will not be allowed to do it on Belmont Voice. it is so easy is it not to hide behind an assumed name, I have more respect for someone who has the courage to use their own name, and meet me face to face to air their views of me when I am stood in front of them.

    Cllr Glenda Powell.

  18. Roger - all of the original post has not been printed - I answered a previous post as to why Cllr Edwards and I as district councillor want to serve on BRPC. As Herefordshire Council is the over arching council who make the final decisions it is advantagous to the people we represent in the parish councils because we can highlight and fight for what our constituents want at the higher level. As a parish council or as parish councillors you can only put FORWARD your recommendations!

yes I do not live in the Belmont Rural Parish but I do represent you all and have done since 2003. It is obvious who you are going to vote for at the election by your comments, I ask what has Adrian Bridges done this year? Just to remind you there are 3 candidates for this election, and the people alone will decide who they want to represent them on the Parish Council which is the democratic way of doing things. I am standing again because THE PEOPLE OF bELMONT pARISH HAS ASK ME TO!

  19. I have been asked by residents in Belmont Ward about the difference between the Unitary (Herefordshire Council) and parish councils.

There are two parish councils, one for Hereford City which covers the Newton Farm and Hunderton estates ONLY as both of these are within the city boundary. The thing that sets it apart from the other parish council is it has a Mayor who carries out civic duties for Hereford City. also a Deputy Mayor both are elected into office by the city councillors for a period of one year.

  20. A government inspector has overruled Herefordshire Council and granted the appeal. A three-storey building can now be developed on the site of the former public toilets at The Oval.

I think this is good news, I would rather a nice new building instead of looking at those terrible toilets!

Like Colin James I am pleased the appeal was granted, I fought hard for this application to be approved in the first place as there were no valid reasons not to approve it,councillors were advised that if they went against officers recommendation the applicant could appeal which they did. Thankfully costs against Herefordshire council were not granted if they had of been it would of cost many thousands of pounds which would of come out of council tax payers monies, as a tax payer myself I am always mindful of the consequences of appeal costs when debating and voting for or against planning applications.

As the applicant won his appeal in both applications he has now got the option to build either the two or three storey building.

  21. Hereford's new walk-in Gp medical centre has reported a steady start.
It opened on December 14 at its temporary HQ next to Asda store on Belmont roundabout and it is now gathering momentum.
In its first week 185 patients attended but last week a total of 309 people sought advise there. five patients attended on Christmas Day.

Euan Mcpherson, spokesman for Herefordshire Primary Care Trust, said early indications showed patients were happy with the service.
"it takes time for people to get to know about the new centre and the number of people attending is gathering pace" he said.
Responses from patients show they are happy with what they found, none had to wait longer than one hour, parking was easy and the waiting rooms and consultation rooms were bright and cheerful.
The walk in centre, open from 8am to 8pm daily. is run by Primecare which already provides the out-of-hours GP service in Herefordshire. The practice manager is Malcolm Sampson.
