  1. health-watch is entirely independent of the health and council. Their chairman, Paul Deneen always gives a good account of himself and attacks when necessary. Will Lindsey runs it from HVOS in Bath Street. Health Watch come to the Health and Soccial Care Scrutiny meeting and at this mornings meeting Paul Deneen gave his by monthly report. I know they are doing a good job.

The councillors had an interesting session with CQC at lunch time yesterday. Many subjects were raised including the scandal of Bromyard being proposed for closure, and dreadful lack of communication internally at the hospital. I will look forward to receiving their report!

Thanks Chris ...I think it might have been a good idea if they had made themselves known last night as I believe they had representation at the event.

  2. Roger, everyone in Hereford knew the hospital was to small when they closed the General Hospital,Eye Hospital and the then County Hospital. They then built the present hospital with a short fall of 384 beds.Greenknight, Healthwatch Hereford is closely involved with the hospital, and when I was a councillor I was a member of the Health & Social Care scrutiny committee, both Richard Beeken and Healthwatch frequently attended the meetings to give the committee a report.

So would you say that Hereford Health Watch is truly independent to the Trust or just toes the WVT line?

When I was ambassador for the Patients Association it was felt that the Health Watch set up would have no teeth!

  3. If this is a duplication please forgive me however the clock ticks for No.1.

During the CQC meeting tonight at the Town Hall the friends, family and councillors past and present did a great job of raising the profile and plight of this unique respite centre here in Herefordshire. They were made to understand the shortcomings of WVT in the way the matter has been dealt with and also the lack of forward measures in place.

To exacerbate the situation staff are beginning to leave which could assist in its demise.

If it wasn't on the CQC radar then it should be now and perhaps a visit this week will work positively for the centre.

Should it close right now there are no viable alternative solutions in place.

  4. I think everyone from day 1 knew that. I got treated in some fancy portacabin last time I visited. The hospital has 208 beds and they do treat out of County patients as well. Clearly they will always be struggling with that capacity. And there is not much scope to expand. The remaining huts need to go but they are probably supplying more capacity than anything new that would be built instead.

Changes are afoot Roger...It's the timelines that are a bit fuzzy!

  5. I went to this meeting tonight which was an informal affair attended by a number of members from the Care Quality Commission.

It's fare to say that topics raised by members of the public tonight run on a similar thread to national concerns.Several family members involved with the campaign to save No.1 Ledbury Road caught the ears of CQC members and supporting statements were made by Glenda who was present as was Councillor Hayes.

The CQC inspection that starts tomorrow and covers all aspects of service within the Wye Valley NHS Trust which includes the Community Hospitals and supporting centres like No.1 Ledbury Road.It is my understanding that 60 people are involved with this inspection which reviews those areas of concern raised last time around.

The CQC will be looking at all aspects of care for which key phrases apply,is it safe,effective,caring,responsive,well-lead.

My five pence submission raised concerns about communication, staffing levels, the Emergency Department, equipment levels, funding levels and retention of services.

  6. This vote took place four months ago...would we still have the same outcome??

Already the mood is changing and the government is worried because the polls are telling them that the "leave" vote is growing.

So then we talk money and hey presto the government and its main over the pond allies decide.... perhaps it's time to address the issue...we need to just catch up with Putin in Syria and see how we can divide things up.

Doesn't it just take you back.

Thousands killed ,millions dispossessed and now let's get things sorted.

  7. Well done Woodland Trust for objecting to Herefordshire Coujncil about the Southern Link Road and writing about it in their latest Midlands Broadleaf magazine.

Who knew that rare barbastelle and Nathusius' pipistrelle bats live in Grafton Wood, with other bat attachicon.gifP1080586 - Copy.JPGspecies too?  They are not mentioned in the Council's environmental reports to support their plans. What else has been ignored?

The proposed path of the SC2 route is straight through the middle of Grafton Wood. Still time to object, see https://www.herefordshire.gov.uk/planning-and-building-control/development-control/planning-applications/details?id=151314&search=southern%20link%20road

That's a relief because it's a bit quiet and the clock ticks closer to the day that the money offered for this project is withdrawn..Hopefully.

  8. Flypaper approach. Used quite often elsewhere. Hang a name out there and see what gets attracted to it.

To be honest Roger a lot of people use this technique even on this site!

    Dear Councillor Chappell.

The truth is that when all's said and done any individual who undertakes a position of office be it in politics or government should do so with the expectation that they will be shot at and therefore they need to be prepared.

100% approval ratings simply don't exist, there will always be someone with an unqualified axe to grind.

It doesn't matter why you undertake the role just don't expect any thanks therefore when appreciation arrives in whatever format it will take away the crap that came before it. Not very eloquent I know but I learnt many years ago to expect nothing. This site was very handy for certain would be councillors on the run up to the elections, where are they now those that survived those that fell. Only a few like yourself continue to engage but most are silent. It served a purpose four months ago.

  9. I have challenged the reasons for why there is short notice to this event and apparently it's down to the Care Quality Commission to ensure publicity.

The hospital has placed fliers around its main site....well this sadly speaks volumes about Trust based confidence levels.

If the ship was in order they would have splashed the positivity message across all the local and national media.

  10. My daughter allegedly overstayed on a retail park in Aberystwyth on 02.07.15. I think it was free parking but with a 2 or 3 hour maximum limit. She ignored 2 demand letters from Parking Eye who wanted £85.

Today she got a County Court summons from Northampton County Court asking for the £85 and £70 costs.

Yes around the back of the railway station. I have used it because parking at Bronglais Hospital and the surrounding area is rubbish. The hospital staff tell me that it's an income generator and the general victim is often the uni students up the road from the hospital .

  11. I've not posted here since the unpleasant Cardin incident and I won't be posting again. In my view, if there are discrepancies they should be dealt with in private, not public, until such time as guilt has been proven.[/size]

dippyhippy's contribution to the forum has been enormous and this is no way to repay that, regardless of suspicions. Likewise this last response to GridKnocker is uncalled for. The voice of reason that is bobby47 has called it right once again, but to no avail it seems.

It's Colin's forum and he can deal with matters as he thinks fit, but I'm out. That said, I can't see any way to delete my details - is this like facebook where you can check out but never leave?

It's my view that the Cardin incident as you put it TWG was the start of this abscess. Perhaps you are right that some things should be dealt with in private however that never seemed to bother Mr Cardin who was quite free and public with his statements.

It is sad that others have been absorbed into this as they do seem to have been major contributors to this site however speaking as one that never aspires to be part of a special club it's sad that loyalties and allegiances appear to have removed what appears to be the old guard some of which clearly helped to grow this forum site.

With this in mind and an imminent parting of the ways I hope those departing members respect the continual positive work done by some of those that remain including our administrator.

  12. Jesse Norman could sleepwalk into being voted in next time. He is currently in the papers every day with his 'Select Committee' role ..... Anyone who doesn't want him as MP next time might as well move out of the Constituency. He is here next time. Just a random fact!

So long as he doesn't forget his constituents, five years is a very long time in politics.

I don,t mind blue as a colour nor red and to be fare that's your football clubs colour of choice isn't it Roger!

  13. Thanks Martin..I'm just so surprised that JC is worrying so many of the "blues" after all I thought they were slapping each other on the back comfortable of another ten years now. They should get behind their party leader and current PM...if I could just remember what he looks like LOL. Laughing out Loud,Lots of Love....Oh Damn which one is it again....Rebekka help!

  14. Cologne chap?

I have my reservations to be honest because we simply don't drive like the Germans.

That said I would rather have the lights off than see an increasing amount of idiots running red lights which in town is becoming very popular and again due in part to the lack of Police resources and bobby boots on the ground.

At least when the lights are off everyone is paying a little more attention!

  15. That's Ok Rebecca

For the record,in the year that I have been on this site only once have I become concerned about abusive tone or personal attacks and sadly again Wirral PC was the person dishing it out.

That said I will never ever suggest female only train compartments in jest ever again. I will stick with my second post on that thread " enhanced security measures" 😉
