  1. Colin to some extent I agree with you the site information was out of date, but what was nice there was no one person that seemed to be the master contributor. What was nice one picked up small snippets of useful local information that was talked about till the end, when there was a bit of slagging going on in my opinion not slanderous but a hate pattern developing?

It would be nice to have just a Belmont PC, and City PC (Newton Farm, and Hunderton which would come under city parish council) or separate PC websites, where all parish clerks contribute to the website.

It is difficult for me to explain as I know it very technical to create a perfect website to suit all persons.

You have done well, and once you clean up your site and dont gives preference to certain councillor’s, I would think there would be a good take up by councillors, if it were linked to the parish councils.

Well I have considered a City Forum and that may still happen in the future.

I do not give preferences to any councillor? please explain what you are referring too when you say preferences? I can only comment on Cllr Powell because she is the only active Cllr here! She has exactly the same forum permissions as you.

Andy Myatt registered but has yet to post.

What is being said by persons in the know Roderick Robinson was threatened with legal action by Cllr. Powell, because I belive that truth hurt.

    Roger,

I am fully aware that legal action was threatened but in all honesty there would of been no libel case to answer, even Roderick Robinson has acknowledged that in his closing statement, either that or he was unsure himself? It would of been quite simple if he was unsure to of just removed the said emails!

I am still of the opinion that this was a fairly lame excuse as to why the site was closed down. I think the site was on it's last legs anyway and the administrator had either lost interest or did not have the time required to continue with the demand that the site was putting on him but now of course he has a certain amount of sympathy I guess...

I have been an administrator of many forums and websites for many years and people make threats and asks for threads to removed all the time, this is not unusual and this would not of caused me to close down the site.

All posts are property and copyright of the original author/poster and it's how they express their views and opinions that could be in question here and not the person on the receiving end. So, if anyone is to be blamed here it's the young girl who made the allegations in the first instance. Roderick Robinson apparently, is an experienced magazine editor and was fully aware of what he published on his website. He alone edits and vets all emails prior to publishing them himself! Unlike here, where its down to the member to action the submit button.

    Cllr Powell.

With regards to 4 & 5, did you or did you not threaten the editor of Belmont Rural with legal action, that action of yours closed down the site, this is a very well know, so do not tell porkies.

I assume this is a question?

To be fair, nobody can be responsible for closing down a forum or website other than the administrator or host in this case only 'Roderick Robinson' from the BR website is responsible for his own actions.

If you read the rules of most forums including this one you will see that the author of any post is responsible for it's content.

(You acknowledge that all posts made to these forums express the views and opinions of the author and not those of any staff member or administrator of Belmont Voice and hence cannot be held liable.

By proceeding to post you agree to these rules and must obey them at all times)

By refusing to remove the said email would not in my opinion, rendered the admin libel.

My personal opinion is that he possibly did not have the time to continue with the site and took the easy way out! thus also gaining a certain amount of sympathy, especially in the manner in which he did.

I think it is unfair to try to lay the blame at Cllr Powell's door in this instance.

The difference between Belmont Voice and the BR website in mainly in the way we allow comments to be made, in the case of the BR website this was done by emailing the admin your views and personal opinion, then he would edit that view of yours to suit himself, then publish his edited version, which I know happened on many cases.

Here at Belmont Voice the forums are LIVE! there is very little editing, if any at all and any comment/post/opinion is published exactly how the author intended it to be.

So I am sorry but I cannot see how Cllr Powell can be solely blamed for the closure of the BR website in this instance.

  4. Well the buses get snarled up in the traffic same as everything else.

There are a lot of good points about running a tram service, but the initial capital outlay would be high, I imagine.

Cheaper than a road lined with unwanted houses though, imo.

Some good idea's here, and I think they could all be explored. Good to see you online ruardean :Thumbs-Up:

  5. Yes the old railway line is not a nice place for people walking alone at night. Maybe a few more brighter lights would help together with some CCTV, that together with more police patrols would make people feel a little safer I am sure.

It's a pity they can't make this into a road from the top of Newton Farm, could help take some of the pressure off the busy Belmont road...

  6. To put the record straight.

When the original Belmont Voice Website back in 2007, I bumped into Cllr Powell and told her my intentions for a more up to date forum website which we now have. She said to me that she was thinking of setting up her own website, where as local people within the ward could contact her and visa-versa, so I suggested that she could use this site as her own base (so to speak) although, now, maybe I wish I had made it more clear to her as she honestly believed that the site was hers and advertised the fact.

Recently, what with a few people suggesting the the site is biased towards Cllr Powell, I have exchanged several emails with Cllr Powell reminding her that the site was actually mine (all paid for and I set it up) and now this could be the reason behind some of the other councillors perhaps not joining as one member has suggested.

This is probably my fault in all fairness to Cllr Powell as I should of made it more clear in the beginning that BV could be used by her to be in contact with her constituents, along with any other Councillor, so there has clearly been a misunderstanding somewhere along the line, but no monies have been paid by her, so I am a little confused to how this was misunderstood.

Belmont Voice the site and domain name are solely owned by myself, nobody else is involved in any way shape of form, hence my post earlier. The site, the graphics, and logo etc were all created by myself and are my copyright.

I sincerely apologise to Cllr Powell for any embarrassment that may have been caused to her, although I did think I had made it clear in the beginning, that said, this site is here for ALL residents and Councillors to use as a vehicle in which to communicate with each other and have serious debates.

Belmont Voice (BV) is an independent website community for discussions and issues related to the Belmont Area/Ward.

We do not represent anyone or any organisation.

Publish your thoughts and opinions on news, issues, planning and developments within the Belmont ward.

(in the main this will relate to the BRPC but may also relate to HCC)

As residents of the Belmont Ward (Belmont - Hunderton - Newton Farm) you are invited to take part in local discussions about the environment, surrounding area's and where we live.

If you do not live within the ward, you are still invited to register in join in our discussions, if you live in Hereford there may be issues that you would like to highlight or raise.

You have direct access to other residents and your Councillors via this website.

We will endeavor to publish all the latest news and issues as soon and and often as we can.

This site can be used as your communication with each other without having to leave your home!

Remember!! If you start or reply to any topic or post YOU are responsible for your content.

Please join in and feel free to start a new topic or discussion.

Above all please be polite to others and observe the guidelines and rules of this site.

I now hope that this clarifies everything and we can now continue to get back to posting.

  7. Actually, they were not being slagged off, a member questioned payments made to M. Edwards, unfortunately Mrs Edwards suddenly passed away, the admin removed the post and left a rather nice condolence message out of respect if i remember

Yes this is correct and I personally telephoned Councillor Phil Edwards to reiterate my sincere condolences to him, I removed the post immediately out of respect.

I met Phil Edwards in the City centre last week and again shook his hand and offered my condolences to him.

I have asked him to join us on Belmont Voice and he told me that he was considering it once the site became more established.

  8. To Mr MEGILLELAND

I only hope that our 3 local district councillors do not say anything, as I fear if you do win, the Regulatory Committee may be classed as favouring there fellow councellors. Therefor it could be an apeal.

I suspect that the 3 local district councillors will not read this message as this website is gradually dieing because of lack of support as we all know who close down the Belmont Rural Website. The only person to read this will be Cllr Powell, as this is her website and is biased in favour of her. In reality this website is not a true representative voice of the people of Belmont, Hunderton, or Newton Farm. This website is Glenda Powell, you can tell by all the entries.

Well you could NOT be further from the truth, THIS WEBSITE IS NOT CLLR POWELLS!!!!!

I PERSONALLY SET UP THIS WEBSITE OF MY OWN FREE WILL AND TOTALLY AT MY OWN EXPENSE.

THIS SITE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH CLLR POWELL IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM! SO BEFORE YOU START MAKING FALSE STATEMENTS MAY I SUGGEST THAT YOU GET YOUR FACTS CORRECT.

I HAVE RUN WEBSITE AND FORUMS FOR OVER 12 YEARS, SO I THINK THAT QUALIFIES ME.

THAT SAID, TO BE FAIR TO CLLR POWELL, SHE IS THE ONLY ACTIVE COUNCILLOR HERE! HENCE WHY SHE SEEMS TO GET ALL THE FLACK! I PERSONALLY THINK ITS DISGUSTING THAT NONE OF THE OTHER CLLRS ARE NOT REPRESENTING US ALL ON HERE, ARE THEY NOT PROFESSIONALS?

AS FOR THE BR WEBSITE, I DID NOT AGREE WITH THE WAY IN WHICH ALL POSTS AND EMAILS WERE EDITED TO SUIT THE EDITOR, "FREEDOM OF SPEECH" LIVES HERE! (THAT'S WHAT FORUMS ARE FOR!) AS ALL POSTS INCLUDING THIS ONE ARE LIVE AND ARE REAL OPINIONS OF OUR MEMBERS.

THE BR EDITOR/ADMINISTRATOR OBVIOUSLY GOT A LITTLE FRIGHTENED AND CLOSED HIS SITE, IN MY OPINION HE WAS CLEARLY UNSURE AND HAD NO CONFIDENCE AND WHAT HAD BEEN SAID ON THE SITE, OTHERWISE THE SITE WOULD STILL BE ACTIVE TODAY.

ITS EASY TO VERBALLY ATTACK OTHER MEMBERS ESPECIALLY WHEN ALL THESE MEMBERS HIDE BEHIND ALIASES, I HAVE SEEN THIS FOR YEARS ON MANY FORUMS, REAL HONEST PEOPLE WITH GOOD CONSTRUCTIVE COMMENTS AND CRITICISM

USE THEIR REAL NAMES, HENCE WHY ALIASES ARE OFTEN NOT TAKEN SERIOUS AND USUALLY IGNORED.

THIS FORUM IS HERE TO STAY, AS FOR THE MEMBERS, THEY WILL COME AND GO FROM MY EXPERIENCE...

  9. I notice that there are about 40+ members of this site and you need to be a member to view posts. Perhaps it would encourage members if the forum posts could be read by anyone but you have to be a member to post or reply? Just a thought.

Yes good suggestion, setting have now been changed so that guests can view topics.

  10. I am disappointed that the only active councillor on this website is Cllr Powell. I have personally invited Cllr Edwards, John Newman, & the recently elected Dawn Killeen. Andy Myatt has registered but has yet to post.

Surely this website is an ideal vehicle for direct communication between your elected councillors and their constituents, (I think there are some silly politics going on behind the scenes to be honest.)

I have just read the minutes from the BRPC 's last meeting with reference to websites.

    87/10 Websites

    (a) Belmontrural.co.uk

As requested at the last meeting, the Clerk has ascertained that the voluntary website www.belmontrural.co.uk will continue to be maintained and to include items of interest in the immediate future. The e-mail exchange forum however will remain closed for the foreseeable future.

HALC have been approached for advice on website and have provided guidance notes, a copy of which was provided to Members. It was agreed that no further action would be taken at this stage but Members were invited to provide further comment to the Clerk once they have considered the HALC guidance provided to them.

    (b) Belmontvoice.co.uk

The Clerk advised that following some incorrect statements on the Belmontvoice website, she has registered to use that site in her official capacity as Parish Clerk in order to correct statements regarding the extent of the Belmont Rural Parish and matters relating to BRPC. It was formally agreed to ratify the Clerk’s action.

Why is it that Cllr Edwards and other councillors were happy to post regularly on the old (now not used) BRPC website yet they seem to need permission to use this one?

This is a real shame and in my opinion a big let down to their constituents, who are clearly seeking advice and correspondence with their elected councillors via Belmont Voice.

If there is a reason for there absence could it be made known? so that we can move forward and all work together for our community.

  11. The St Francis Church site has become part of the redevelopment of the Oval it will be pulled down to build a multi purpose hub for the community of Newton Farm and wider South Wye to use.

As a member of the Oval Redevelopment Steering Group I asked for a written update to put in my Newton Farm newsletter, which I have now received, I will send it to admin to post here!

Can you email me that update, or post it here so all can see please.

  12. I have spoken to Andrew Lee-Jones this afternoon in regard to the road works that should of commenced in June also my request for a yellow box, he has promised me he will make some enquiries and get back to me tomorrow. I advised him that I have been waiting for six months for an answer if one is still not received by Monday I will be making a complain to the management of Amey. Watch this space!

    Did he call you Glen?

  13. :Angry_32:

Colin, I have spoken with Amey about the work that should of comenced in June also mentioning my request for the yellow box, Andrew Lee Jones, the officer dealing with this work is on holiday until 13th Sept I have left a message that I want an update on this work and when it will be carried out.

Thanks for the update Glen, I am beginning to think Amey are a law to themselves, virtually all requests over the past year have been ignored! they may well be telling you that they have scheduled work in but its just not being done.

  14. You are correct in regard to cost of the notice board in Belmont, I do not know what the end result was as I am no longer a parish councillor, and no longer receive the parish council paperwork.

In regard to the notice board at the Oval it belongs to the Information Centre, it has been like that since they took over from my group in the year 2000.I and others have pointed out the condition of it to them, they said it is broken that is why no new information is inside. It was originally erected in 1999 when the South Wye Regeneration Board (SRB) monies was allocated to the five estates in South Wye. The other four notice boards are still in good condition and being used

they are the resonsibility of the Putson, Hinton,Redhill and Hunderton residents associations. As the Newton Farm Community Association exists in name only and appears on the top of the Information centre sign it is their responsibility to keep it in good condition.

As your new parish councillor is a paid worker at the Information Centre she would be the ideal person to approach.

Well if I offer to fix it for them, perhaps they will allow me to put the Belmont Voice Website flyer in there.

  15. This area does not look pleasant at all. I have read through all replies, have the contractors cleaned this up yet does anyone know?

I took a walk along here this morning and the answer to your question is NO I took this picture today, the original images were taken as far back as the 21st of June.

  16. Redundant South Wye Notice Board...

I could not help but take a picture of this notice board, all the leaflets and information within are totally faded and in some case completely blank due to sever fading or lack of up keep.

How much did this notice board originally cost? I remember attending a meeting of the Belmont Parish last year and the topic of a new notice boards came up and I could not believe the costs that were being considered for new signs! if I remember correctly a new aluminium notice board for Belmont was in the region of £4000+!! yes that's right you did read it correctly £4000+ I am not sure what the outcome was in the end.

Who is responsible for the notice boards and why is this particular one been left in such poor state?

    southwyesign.jpg

"We can make it better" ha ha I wish someone would...

  17. As Councillors I am very surprised at both of your comments with regards to fisherman at the Belmont Pool.

    Councillor Mark Schoffer

Sewage pollution cuts down oxygen in water and contaminates the fish which are handled by fishermen, also our Easter European friends who like to eat them.
    :Surprised_32:

    Councillor Glenda Powell

English fishermen who have fished these pools for years do not eat the fish they put them back in the water.
    :Surprised_32:
As I said children should not be swimming there or for that matter in the river that is why the police move them on as our eastern europeans catch and eat the fish it is obvious it is not poisonous! so let us have no more scare mongoring please!

Fisherman are just fisherman! It is clear discrimination to even suggest that fisherman from any other country behave differently to fisherman that are from England or speak English!! :Thumbs-Down:

Mr P Rowe noticed these remarks too.

I took offence to these comments both in general terms and personally, particularly as my fiancée is from Europe.

As Councillors you represent your constituents equally! regardless of where they originate, you should know better. I will not tolerate any form of racism! so can we please refrain from such comments in the future or I will be forced to remove the posts.

  18. This is an email from Mark Schoffer to Rob Hemblade

    Dear Rob,

I am very sorry but this matter of sewage leaking into Belmont Pools is now getting very serious.

Close examination and picture "A steady volume of sewage entering Belmont Pool" shows that this is really serious on the grounds of health hazard, to children swimming, young fishermen as well as the older fishermen. Sewage pollution cuts down oxygen in water and contaminates the fish which are handled by fishermen, also our Easter European friends who like to eat them.

The other two pictures "sewage entering the lower Pond & Volume of sewage entering the pond"show how serious this matter is.

The last picture "New pipe in between the branches", I do not know what this does as nothing appears to have come out of it.

Cllr Powell I ask that you have this published on your website as a warning to residents who use the lower pond, incase they catch some infection, but not the lower comment re Cllr Edwards.

I have not included Cllr Edwards as his comments are irrelevant to the problem.
