  1. A few weeks ago the Council removed an established tree from Commercial Rd Hereford on the pavement outside the old Cinema ( Kingdom Church ? ) close to the kerb - for whatever reason , I would think for H and S reason -,to their credit they replaced it with what is probably call a sapling .

The photo , taken today shows that that the tree had been snapped off , and all that's left is a short trunk . In my opinion it's no good people going on about Climate Change etc  when this apparent Criminal Damage is happening  ?!

  2. This is disgraceful and a health problem .

re your comment relating to the younger generation , I am a regular caller at Greggs in Broad St . I stand in the queue with my red re usable mug for my coffee , because I supply the mug I get 20p off my coffee , reduced from £1.90 to £1.70 .

It never ceases to amaze me the number of youngsters who ,it appears are happy to pay the extra 20p to have their drink in a one use mug .

For info ....... Don't know if All Parking Services UK were " supervising " any Hereford private car parks .

A private parking ticket company allowed a fine to be issued without proper checks being carried out, an undercover BBC investigation has found.
All Parking Services UK Ltd sent signs to journalists without identity checks, leading to a car owner being sent a £100 fine for parking in Newport.
The firm has been suspended by the DVLA and the British Parking Association (BPA) is investigating.
All Parking Services said it was co-operating with investigations.
The company can no longer issue tickets after it was suspended by the DVLA.
BBC Wales' X-Ray found companies were offering free "self-ticketing" services, allowing landlords to police their own land by taking photographs of cars parked there.
Firms would then access DVLA data and issue tickets to the offending drivers, offering cash incentives for each ticket issued.

The investigation found Chester-based Park Watch did not make any requests for evidence of land ownership and a false address was provided.
It also asked for a map of the area, but accepted a Google Maps screen-grab with a hand-drawn line around it, and also made an appointment to install signs which were said to have cost £200.
Manchester-based All Parking Services sent signs in the post without checking identity or the right to issue tickets.
One of the signs was put up behind a parked car in Newport, with investigators using an app to enter details of the car's supposed location and the time of the so-called offence.
The driver was then issued a £100 parking ticket in the post.
Both companies were approved operators of the BPA and required to abide by a code of practice.
Jack Cousens, head of road policy for the AA, said: "Somebody should've stepped in and said 'we haven't got the right documentation, we just can't let you go ahead'. That is just simply unacceptable.
"Those who are overseeing the code of conduct have got to tighter regulate those companies that they have under their banner and make sure that they're doing those checks and balances even before they're setting up new sites."
Park Watch, a trading name of Defence Systems Ltd, said it would have made all the necessary checks on its identity before it was allowed to issue any tickets.
The BPA is investigating and will consider sanctions which could include expelling companies.
The DVLA said it had already suspended All Parking Services so it can no longer issue parking tickets, but refused to comment on the conduct of Park Watch.

  4. Yesterday Tuesday 8th October an RTC occurred in Broad St Hereford  . From what I know it happened near to the RSPCA Charity Shop.

it appears that an automatic car driven by an elderly driver ( guessed  at +80 ) reversed out of a parking bay by the Oxfam Shop and for whatever reason kept reversing and swerved into a car which had just parked in a bay by the RSPCA  shop , in doing so also hit another car in another bay . So its three cars damaged . The driver of the stationary car banged into is complaining of neck injuries. Ambulance and Police called .

Cut a long story short , NO POLICE ATTENDANCE ........AMBULANCE ATTENDED 90 minutes AFTER THE RTC........ By this time one of the vehicles had been recovered by the insurance company on a low loader and the apparent injured person was fed up with waiting to be assessed had left the scene ............

IS THIS IS THE WAY AHEAD ? ....IF SO PLEASE TELL US .

  5. This Change of Use is nothing new ...........I can recall in the early 90s the Government of the day was encouraging this change of use in Midland town centres from shops etc to flats etc. again to bring more life into the town centres

    Perhaps  Twowheelgood can confirm ?

  6. Update from West Mercia Police
Officers are currently responding to an incident this morning (Monday 16 September) in  Hinton Road, #Hereford.
A cordon is currently in place. Please take an alternative route.
We will update as soon as possible.

  7. Today is International Women in Engineering Day (INWED).

INWED is an international awareness campaign to raise the profile of women in engineering and focuses attention on the amazing career opportunities available to girls in this exciting industry.

I copied the above from an Armed Forces Group , believe that the proposed Engineering University in Hereford have missed an opportunity to spread the word further on this special day - you might be aware that the Armed Forces have numerous opportunities for Women in Engineering.

  8. Sounds  like an excuse for a Party ....

Next year's early May bank holiday will be moved back by four days in England, Wales and Northern Ireland to coincide with the 75th anniversary of VE Day.
May Day is traditionally held on a Monday but will be put back to Friday 8 May 2020.
VE Day, or Victory in Europe Day, marks the day towards the end of World War Two when fighting against Nazi Germany came to an end in Europe.
The holiday will form part of a three-day weekend of commemorative events.
They will include more than 20,000 pubs encouraging people to toast the heroes of the war, while churches will take part in a Ringing Out For Peace.
