  1. I suppose it was the images of the IOC van and the UKIP truck that struck a chord...or maybe it was some points of political similarity.

    Th

By the way could someone form IOC tell me how their party is funded, Cheers broke Mike

The IOC is funded purely by local donations, not businesses' or corporations as one of the Independents stated in his election leaflet. Hope he enjoys the investigation 😊

  2. The Journalists need to remain unbiased and this story could be deemed as piloting the electorate, we kinda know its true but there's no solid proof that it was a vindictive act. He'll get his comeuppance, ginger whiskered Adams Apple an all 😉

  3. Amanda Martin what an absolute star. She standing in Widemarsh but I contacted her concerning a major issue I'm having in Credenhill, not met her before nut she's pulled out all the stops to help me with advice in her professional area. I'm sure her ward will be really lucky to have her as a councillor. Thanx Amanda x

  4. Hi dippyhippy, to be honest I don't really mind what Bob Matthews says, I wont go down the route of Ad Hominem with him...always a loser. Whilst canvassing houses he has already been to the old rogue had been telling the residents that Im barred from working as a nurse and barred from the National Trust to whom I am a custodian of. I do believe that our chair of exec' is writing to him to warn him off so its all on hand. Bit naughty of him though....but expected nevertheless.

  5. Hi Dazza, only just spotted your post - 152 -above. Can you share any of what has been said/implied??

Maybe the best way of dealing with it, is to challenge whatever it is he has said, and perhaps set the record straight with the facts??

That doesn't of course mean that all prospective constituents in Credenhill Ward will read HV, but Hereford's a small place..... people talk, and it might be a starting point.

I dont know election rules inside out, but common decency tells me that one candidate should not be telling "outrageous lies" about another.

  6. Hi Chris Chappell, Quick fire question to you, whilst canvassing my ward a good number of residents have informed me that Bob Matthews has been telling them pretty outrageous lies about me, quite clearly his idea of a smear campaign. I hear you're a very knowledgeable and respected stand up Councillor. Is this within election law what he's doing? For me it kind of shows the measure of the man.

  7. I know nothing about the cakes of Jesse Norman. It does't sound to me that Jesse has done anything that warrants any more than a slap on the wrist.

Election law is very clear about what you can give/do during an election period. Anything that might be seen as buying a vote is not allowed.

For example, you can call me mean if you wish, but I will not be buying anyone from my Ward a beer in the Vaga or anywhere else until after the election. Nor will I accept one! Election law is very strong on this. ' in the publics view you must not be seen to be in any way buying a vote or putting yourself in a position to be beholden to someone who may be voting for you'.

I hold a Diploma in Election Law and have been fighting election campaigns for forty years. It is always unwise for a candidate to do anything that might be misconstrued.

Other than Independents, who normally are their own Agents, most Party candidates have an election agent who in law is responsible for the actions and words of the candidate and candidates supporters. It's an agents nightmare when a candidate or supporter goes off and does something that might bring the law down on them. Heavy fines or imprisonment awaits for the most serious breach of election law!

  8. dippyhippy, thank you. I regard this subject as my duty to know especially as this thread has uncovered an obvious disregard for mental health services to younger people and all mental health sufferers in the broader sense. It comes as no surprise really, I blew the whistle on Hereford County Hospital last year which you may remember reading about in the Hereford Times because the emergency services provision was and still is woeful and that is inclusive of both general AND mental health admissions. Richard Bekken will grow to despise me if he doesn't already.

  9. Unique, top bloke.

dippyhippy, one subject area that I will do further research into is children and adolescent mental health facilities and services within Herefordshire/Worcestershire. Within the UK the children's mental health figures make for distressing reading: 1 in 10 children have a form of mental health problem and between 5 and 10 children per 100,000 actually complete suicide........so, whether elected or not, as a registered emergency nurse it would certainly be in my interests to know exactly what's going on within this patient group.

With regards to adult mental health figures the statistics are even more shocking but I'll let you all read about that yourselves, plenty of research in the public domain.

Chris Chappel, I believe, is most certainly going down the right track of treating the cause rather than the symptoms, however, with mental health it's not quite so clear cut is it. I think many of us have had plausibly 'happy' friends go on to attempt or complete suicide, as such we are relying on the person to be open about potential mental health disturbances they may have which ironically even they might not be aware of eg: psychosis etc....

  10. mikefitz/glenda, we in the IOC are only interested in the local vote and have no affiliation to national politics. In fact on the A438 I actually put my board immediately next to a UKIP board with permission of a householder, the next day it had been removed....as an IOC candidate my personal view on the UKIP 'battlebus' is that it reminded me of 1933 Berlin with Goebels at the wheel and Adolf reading the map....just a thought.....I felt it was time this thread had the inclusion of Godwins Law.

  11. Greenknight don't you think though that such an important, expensive and politically relevant document should at least have been mentioned by our prospective MPs when healthcare, the NHS etc is such a massively important agenda? I would have thought so but the truth is that I would suspect not one of them knows about it's existence, nor I also suspect to the citizens of Herefordshire. Furthermore I would suspect that is unusable due to financial constraints and a shortage of healthcare staff, as such I suspect an awful lot of our money and man hours was wasted with the production of this document.
