  1. While some of the roads may of been resurfaced the stretch which is being used between Clehonger and Madley would be more suited to a mountain bike than the bikes they will be using, but in all seriousness it's good for the county to have these sort of events and I hope it's a success, there is also a marathon and half marathon on Sunday which I thought about entering but then decided my running days (if there were any) are way behind me.

  2. Yes I have sent 2 letter of objections, my first one isn't very good so sent a second much better letter in this week using my work address.

If this SLR goes ahead then they have to 2032 to build the western relief road, in the meantime they will build a 1000 houses at kings Acre and the Grafton plus lower Bullingham is set to expand this will just turn Hereford into one big car park, at least the Belmont road will be a nice place to be stuck in your car with its new boulevard of trees while we wait for the 1000+ extra vehicles to come down Ross road and go around Asda roundabout.

I've yet to find anyone who likes or wants this link road (apart from some idiots in the council) every business owner from Rotherwas I've spoke to wants a eastern bridge but it seems as if the powers to be are deaf to what the people of the county want, when I stood to be councillor I was under the belief that you did what the people wanted.

  3. Another problem is the people that take these top jobs in the council very often don't live in Herefordshire and only view the job as a way to improve their CV and the job as short term. Once they are given the job they decide they need to make their mark and get noticed so they change everything in their department costing even more money and disruption, it's a never ending cycle unfortunately.

  4. According to the Daily Express, France and Germany are going to try and set the corporation tax for the country's in the E.U, if that happens the corporation tax rate which is currently 20% in this country and a lot lower than France and Germany will rise dramatically resulting in a loss of jobs and growth. if this is true it will change the opinions of the voters that are at the moment undecided and give the No vote a massive boost.

  5. This is a topic which will hear lots about in the next 2 years or so, Im undecided as what I see as best for the UK, both camps make quite compleling reasons for either staying in or leaving, I'm not so conserned with the GDP that we would lose or gain or how big the national ecomony is, I'm more concerned about the quality of life and if having a couple less quid in my pocket means that I live in a safer country then I will happily vote to leave the E.U. I guess for me I will give David Cameron time to negotiate a better deal for us then make my decision.

  6. Dazza has some valid points and in some ways it maybe a blessing that the IOC didn't take control of the council, some of us were late or last minute candidates and although we might if had the very best of intentions we might not of been ready to take control. This gives the unlucky candidates 4 years to prepare and get ready.

As I understand it deals were tried to be done but obviously not succesful, I myself was a candidate long before the Green Party decided to put one against me as if my ward wasn't hard enough, honestly you could walk a Labrador around my ward with a blue Rosette on it and it would pick up 500 votes, also in the case of Wormside I said at the time it was stupid to put a candidate against a sitting independent who was willing to work with the IOC. Lessons will be learned and the 'IOC want Hereford to go back to the dark ages' tag has to be lost, the party needs to change its ways and it will.

There is a group of new good honest candidates that were unsuccessful this time and we have pointed out that standing in the city is totally different to standing in the countryside, you cannot stand against each other in the sticks it is basically like Lambs to the slaughter for us and I would refuse to stand again unless it was 1 against 1 as the Tory will pick up 40% of the vote for just being blue. I think the party thought it was bigger than it is and has had a bit of a hammering, but now is the time to start rebuilding and getting ready for the next election but in the meantime we have 12 very good very capable councillors let's support them.

  7. Sorry Adrain if you have taken my comment slightly out of context, I'm stuck at work and at the same time trying to show Tracy how to use this site.

She much appreciates your offer of you helping settling her into the new position and she is going to take you up on it if she hasn't already. I was just trying to reassure you that she will make a very capable councillor as you are to and hopefully together you can keep pushing the ward forward.

I will now shut up before Tracy tells me off any further

  8. Colin

Obviously disappointed but the last 4 years has been a real honour to serve the Community.

I will pass my knowledge over too Tracey and will over the next four years work with our new Ward Councillor through the Belmont Rural Parish Council. I know how daunting and demanding this role is and the dedicated time required to fully fulfill this with a full-time job in hand too and of course a family.

If it had been Conservative then no chance.

    Regards

    Adrian

I'm speaking on behalf of Tracy and we much appreciate your kind words and offers of help and we will definitely be taking you up on your offer as like you we only want the best for the ward.

I can put your mind at rest as Tracy is more than capable of standing up for what she believes is right and was very quick to give the Consevative candidate who stood against both of you a good mouth full on the fact he couldn't be bothered to step one foot on the ward prior to the election, she is use to running an office full of men and dealing with stroppy customers on a daily basis and has prior experience of councils and councillors so she will not be phased but they might be.

Also like you Adrain we want the blue run out of the county.

  9. I agree megilleland, there would be seven less conservative councillors if the IOC and the independents had done a deal, this shouldn't be about IOC or the independents policies it's about getting the Torys out, I wonder if a deal could also be struck with the lib dems as well? Target the Torys, only have one person standing against them, target every ward and we just might get our county back and in the process take that smug look off their faces.

As you know I stood for IOC and was unsuccessful but my partner did get elected so I'm making bullets for her to fire so to speak, I'm also going to join the executive board of the IOC so I welcome all ideas and help.

  10. Hi, please excuse me as I've been to Gilbies to drown my sorrows and celebrate my partners success in winning Belmont.

I'm sorry I've let down people like Jean Harris but I was amazed 431 people took the time to think I was worth a vote. Unfortunately the sway of conservatism made a Huge difference in the local elections, I think I could of won if the Greens had'nt stood in my ward as they diluted it but hay ho, with my partner being the new councillor at Belmont I will be able to have a say in some things to her and I would like to say Thankyou to Adrain Bridges who had a disagreement with my partner Tracy yesterday but yet today apologised and said if there is any advice you need just knock on my door, that is much appreciated and takes a man to say it.

Just to give you an idea how bad the sway to conservatism was Mark Chester who was standing in belmont who never stepped foot in the ward and was a paper candidate came second, he was told firmly by Tracy about this and how disgusting it is not to try for the electorate. I'm gutted for my mate Dazza, Paul, Amanda and Jon stannard amongst others who are really good people and more in touch with the real world then the people the public elected.

We can beat the Torys but in all honesty the independents and the IOC need to get together and if there is a standing councillor there let them be, go one to one with the Torys and they wouldn't have no more than half a dozen seats, Hereford needs change and unfortunately it will be 4 years before that can happen but in the meantime the powers that be in the IOC need to to chat with the Independents and make changes in their strategy for the greater good.
