People may like to check the pollution levels where they live, especially along Belmont Road, using this website by inserting your postcode.

    Central Office of Public Interest
Get a free Air Quality report for your address

    https://addresspollution.org/

    Example:

    THREE COUNTIES HOTEL
    HEREFORD

    Pollutant one: PM2.5

At this address, the annual average of the pollutant PM2.5 is 8.67mcg/m3. The World Health Organization limit is 5mcg/m3.

These particles, which are less than 2.5 micrometers in diameter, can cause asthma, respiratory inflammation and even promote cancers.

    Pollutant two: PM10

The reading for PM10 at this address is 14.76mcg/m3. The limit is 15mcg/m3.

PM10 can cause wheezing, bronchitis and reduce lung development.

    Pollutant three: NO2

The reading for N02 at this address is 12.04mcg/m3. The limit is 10mcg/m3.

Long term exposure to even low levels of this toxic gas increases mortality rates and contributes to the development of asthma, and other respiratory issues.

    Very interesting. idling traffic..

Having viewed the whole meeting  this evening it is abuntently obvious to me that Bruce Baker was in complete agreement from the start of it being approved and also I noted how much the chairman was bullying every person that objected, funny that. What are mockery  🤔

I think the chair was acutely mindful of losing any subsequent appeal and the considerable costs involved to the council in defending any appeal. I normally slate the councillors but the crazy 'expert' opinion of the highways and transport officers meant there was no easy evidential way to turn it down, though those of us with enough knowledge and experience of the area can see the inherent problems that will manifest once the store is built.

This is going to be a major problem!

We cannot get a 'traffic lights out trial' yet exiting a Lidl supermarket and turning right (onto one of the busiest roads in Hereford A465) and crossing the carriageway, which is the direction of oncoming traffic and hoping that the traffic heading southbound or vehicles waiting in the little filter lane turning into Lidl's is ok though...

    Quite agree. It is madness.

Councillors come up with some incredible excuses to do things but this is right up there with the worst.
Can you not see this is 100% to do with vehicle restrictions around the City and the soon to be installation of traffic cameras to catch the
    motorist out.
You could mow down and kill more people in a Morrisons or Sainsburys car park than the Centre of Hereford.

Don't think so. It mentions no plans to change the current traffic regulation orders, so existing vehicle access times will be unchanged.

  5. Certainly respect both views above and there are plenty of grounds for objections.

If the hotel could be replaced with community services such as doctors, dentist etc than I would be in favour of that, but that is not on the table and is akin to people wishing for things like Matalan, Toby Carvery etc at the former Debenhams store.

Lidl must think that have a good chance of succeeding as they would not have applied. It will no doubt go to Planning Committee though and there are many dinosaurs on that who oppose most developments of any sort. If they refuse it, will Lidl appeal to the Planning Inspector who may or may not over turn it? Will take years not months to be concluded if that is the case.

  6. Seems like a fair price both to the Showmans Guild and also for the the significant overheads in moving all the planters of which there is too many and which the public had no say over. Another one of Harrington's babies that he has now departed from having any responsibility over, but the costly legacy of having to move them each year remains.
