  1. The "repairs" are ludicrous, most look as if some tarmac has been tipped in then trodden down. Even the better looking repairs have no overbanding so they fall apart in a matter of days.

Roman Road though not having so many potholes as some places is like a suspension test site.

Actually most roads are like that. They don't need patching - they need resurfacing - and its never going to happen.

  2. Yesterday at 3.30 both Edgar St  lanes off the roundabout were stationary resulting in the first lane at top of Victoria St being solid, resulting in a queue of traffic backing around Steels and into Whitecross rd.

As Max Boyce said: "I know - because I was there".

After finally managing to get on to Blueschool St I turned th corner into Commercial Rd to traffic backed up to the lights.

Three light changes later saw me across the lights at the Merton.

Things improved now as it only took two changes of lights to see me turning left on to the new road to witness `a grand total of six cars waiting to exit.

The duel/test of nerves/size of cahones  to travel straight on at the bottom of Commercial Road gets worse - an utter nightmare free for all.

Coming out of Morrisons car park in the dark to turn right I was met by traffic exiting the station coming straight for me.

Do both exit at the same time or are there no lights at station exit?

  3. Came into town this morning, it looks close to being finished.

My pet gripe about two lanes in Commercial Rd merging into one has obviously had some effect.

Just to be bloody-minded they have done exactly the same in the opposite direction.

Now two lanes of ahead traffic "merge" (jostle, bully, collide - you choose) into one after the lights.

Oh - such fun will be had!

  4. The route, using a car, to go back to the Aylestone area from Morrison's will be the same as it has been for the last few months. Leave via the side exit opposite the sorting office and turn right. It will get more tiresome though as there will be another traffic light to go through. And the traffic flow coming towards Morrison's from Widemarsh Street is an unknown quantity at the moment as there is none currently.

There is no right turn there according to the map ....?

  5. I was told by Balfour Beatty early 2018 is likely opening.

What hacks me off is the two lanes merging into one at the bottom of  Commercial Rd.

Do I be a considerate driver and queue patiently in the left hand lane, or zoom down to the lights in the right hand lane and force myself into the single straight ahead lane, judging the speed and attitude of those in the correct lane, with an increasing level of butt-clenching as i play real-world dodgems......

When I asked Balfour Beatty whether there was to be any advance warning signs to drivers advising them of the impending doom ahead, I was told that they "expected the reduced traffic flow through there would alleviate the problem when the new system was in place".

    Hmmmmmm

  6. There is nothing funny about it, I think you may be taking this personally?

I cannot be expected to remember my decisions on every single comment made, there are thousands if you care to take a look, if you are at all unsure about anything please always refer to the forum rules for additional guidance.

OK - I will leave this where it is and let others decide the validity of our respective positions.

  7. Listen, this is NOT the HT, people are entitled to their opinions and although some opinions are not always acceptable to some, quite often they are typed and said either out of frustration or done on the spur of the moment. Just because I choose not to remove it does not mean I agree, and just to clarify in this instance I do NOT agree with what this member wrote. So do you think I should remove everything that I didn't agree with? Move on...

Funny you TWICE  removed my comment on the subways in Poland thread because you didnt want it "politicised" ......

"I am not making this political, all these remarks will be removed, please join in the debate with sensible comments or refrain altogether."

  8. I will laugh my head off is someone pissed up gives her a good slapping, stupid cow, what does she want? I have read the police statement and there seems to be no pleasing this nutcase. I agree with some other members that she is making a right mess with all sorts of crap building up, it won't be long before something happens to either her or a motorist, motorcyclist, lorry driver or bus, mark my words.

Colin - I find it amazing that you allow this comment to stand?

Do you really think it acceptable? If you do - it speaks volumes.

  9. No -  his point appears quite clear.

If the statistics quoted are accurate then that destroys your "theory".

On the other hand your point, everything you have posted   seems to be attempting to make the point that there is a correlation between blue badges and scammers.

I can only surmise that you have no experience of the blue badge application process (I have) - if you did you would be aware of how difficult is is to obtain one.

But I am expecting that facts and experience will do little to change your mind .......

  10. I would say the state of HFDS roads is at an all time low - at least since two horses drowned in a hole on the turnpike from Hereford to Kington.

It seems there are very few repairs taking place, they also appear to be filtering what few holes they do repair. Increasingly I notice larger holes are filled but smaller (but still a pothole size) are ignored.

It is getting rediculous. No one seems to care and its impossible to take anyone to task.

  11. Never said straight on.......

Also 99% of motorists in Hereford do go straight on over a mini roundabout, except the one on Grandstand Rd/Holmer Rd which has disappeared. The amount of lines etc that have worn away is shocking and dangerous at the same time.

    My bad.

Its impossible to "go straight ahead" at a roundabout - mini or otherwise. :Winky:

I must be getting old - I never fail to be astounded at the shocking level (or lack of) driving skill exhibited today.

The two mini roundabouts on Aylstone hill must resemble the radar scene from the "Whacky Races".

Driving far enough behind the preceding vehicle so that your lights cut off below the rear window is a practice unknown to anyone who follows me home at night.

Indicating your intention to maneuver seems to be an option to most people.

Don't get me started....... Oh - you already have!

  12. See it nearly every day. Also seen Yeomans driver reading from what looked like a clip board a few months back.I've also wondered why so many people indicate right whilst going straight ahead on a mini roundabout

until I noticed two driving instructors in one week teaching pupils to do just that.

Its impossible to "go straight on" at a roundabout - mini or otherwise.

  13. This was forced on HFDS Council by government policy - the only ones who wanted this free school in HFDS were Robert Owen.

I would love to know how many pupils start this new year.

I also think it would be interesting to know the number of classrooms per pupil .......
