The Shire Hall which was opened in 1817 still has its traditional court room, where prisoners were given the death penalty.

The Grade II listed building holds the sixth oldest working court in the country.

Built in the early 1800s, neo-classical style and Grade II listed, the Shirehall provides the ideal venue for training courses, conferences, job fairs, craft fairs, parties, wedding receptions, dance, yoga and community groups with rooms to cater for groups of all sizes.
