Two crews from Hereford, two from Ross and one each from Fownhope and Ewyas Harold were called at 03:18 to a house in the village where a fire in the roof space had spread to an adjoining property. All residents were able to leave the properties safely. "This incident was attended by many of crews and officers who have been at Kidderminster in last few days," said Chief Fire Officer Jon Pryce. "Superb efforts and commitment, thank you." 📸 Fownhope Fire Station

After discussions with the Ward Councillor, who has been in discussion with parish council, residents and local businesses, the Cabinet Member for Infrastructure and Transport has asked that the works planned along the B4224 at Fownhope village and Fiddlers Green, which were due to commence on 23rd August 2021 are postponed to later in Autumn, therefore the B4224 will NOT be closed during this period. Photograph courtesy of Google Maps We had planned to deliver these works during the school summer holiday to minimise disruption to commuters and school traffic, but in response to concerns over the impact on local tourism and leisure, particularly following the full easing of COVID restrictions, these works will now be delivered during Autumn – the exact dates to be confirmed in the next couple of weeks.

Following extensive works to the B4224 road from Fiddler's Green to Fownhope Herefordshire following which was severely damaged by Storm Dennis in early 2020. The B4224 was dealt a double blow by the storm, which caused a 6.5 metre wide landslip and a separate partial collapse of a 100-metre long retaining wall. Balfour Beatty explain that work at the landslip site is now accelerating, and to help explain the stages they need to go through to reach completion, they have put together some information below. 👇 The road is scheduled to reopen this Friday to all traffic.
