  1. At 12 noon today the A49 remains closed in both directions following a fatal accident early this morning. A force spokesman told Hereford Voice - "Officers from West Mercia Police were called to a single-vehicle collision on the A49 at Harewood End shortly after 7am this morning (Wednesday 17 November). The car has hit a wall. Ambulance crews also attended and treated the male driver of the vehicle but sadly he died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed. Road closures are in place for investigation work but are expected to be removed shortly. Anyone who has any information is urged to call 101 or visit our website, quoting incident 063i of 17 November 2021 or report it online via our website www.westmerciapolice.uk/tua/tell-us-about/ Alternatively, if you have information but don’t feel comfortable speaking to police, you can speak to the independent charity Crimestoppers.   2. The A49 at Dinmore Hill will remain closed overnight with a view to reopen in the morning following an incident involving an overturned HGV vehicle. DIVERSIONS Road users travelling southbound are advised to follow the solid circle diversion route: At the junction of the A49/A417, turn left on to the A417 eastbound. Continue along the A417 to its junction with the A4103. Turn right on to the A4103 westbound. Continue along A4103 westbound to its roundabout with the A49. Join the A49 and continue your journey. Road users travelling northbound are advised to follow the solid triangle diversion route: At the roundabout junction of A49/A4103 take the exit to the A4103 eastbound. Continue along the A4103 eastbound to its junction with the A417 Turn left along the A417 and continue to its junction with the A49 to continue your journey. Delays are likely on the approach to this closure, with additional journey times also expected on diversion routes.   3. There is a wide load stuck on the traffic lights on the A49 Ross Road (northbound) Hereford.
  4. Emergency services are currently at the scene between Mayberry Avenue and Bradbury Close (Saxon Gate Junction) attending an incident involving a vehicle on its roof.

  6. Campaign: Yet another RTC on the A49 near Moreton on Lugg today. This is the third accident in less than a week! This follows another RTC on the A49 near Leominster on Boxing Day after a collision between car and fuel tanker. A man was taken to hospital only last Tuesday (22nd) following another RTC. There was also an accident on the 14th of December north bound at Dinmore and and accident where a vehicle ended upside down in a ditch at the end of November. There have been many more accidents over the years in the accident hotspot. Hereford Voice is calling for changes to be made on this notorious section of the A49 to improve safety for motorists.
