  1. Have these architects lost their marbles. This monstrosity is proposed to be wedged into Cantilupe Street, a fine street of Victorian houses. Reminds me of the World War II pill boxes and fortifications found along the front line. What next anti-tank traps in the park opposite! The architects must have scanned the Brutalist Period of Architecture to get their unimaginative idea for a pile of bricks. What do you think? 3. A 3 storey sheltered housing project in Belmont Avenue Hereford has been approved. The new homes are to be built in the little car park with garages near to the footpath into Asda. I assume the footpath will remain? West Mercia Housing Group applied to build a three-storey building with 10 one-bed flats, and three off road car parking spaces. Full planning details here
  4. Plans have been submitted to convert How Caple Grange Hotel into a boarding house for Hereford Cathedral School. The planning application to convert the former military barracks and council records office in Harold Street Hereford were refused earlier this week by Hereford planners however, a new planning application has now been submitted for change of use of an existing Georgian Country House Hotel (C1 Hotels) to a boarding house for Hereford Cathedral School (C2 Residential Institutions). How Caple Grange Hotel A Georgian Country House Hotel, 15,000 sq ft, set in over five acres of gardens and grounds could become a new boarding house for Hereford's Cathedral School if plans are passed. Planning Application P163850/F Remember where you heard it first!
  5. Proposed plans have been submitted to convert the former Johnson's Dry Cleaners, first, second and third floors from retail space to residential apartments. We need to look at the bigger picture, the city centre will face no end of objections for future planning applications from RESIDENTS when businesses what to put up illuminated signs and extend business hours to accommodate functions in restaurants and bars etc, this happened recently when Yates applied to extend their opening hours (they won the court case in the end) and they received objections from the flats next door. We should keep the city centre as a city centre and protect the businesses now and in the future, either that or a clause should be put in place for all new planning applications to cover new builds/conversions to prevent such objections, in other words, if you rent/buy a property in the city centre don't complain when the local business wants to put up an illuminated sign or extend their opening hours etc Planning application here
  6. Online plans have been submitted to Herefordshire Council to build a pub on the site of the former Sportsman pub on Widemarsh Common Hereford. Planning application number : P162165/O and details can be found here I hope this project gets the green light, it would make a refreshing change to having a pub opening rather than closing.
  7. Herefordshire Council Newsroom 7th November 2014 According to the report and Hereford Times this route will cost £25 million which appears amazingly cheap when compared with the costs for the city Link Road. Note that this route is furthest out from the city - no doubt so it can be infilled with housing. The loss of woodland at Grafton Wood should be compensated with planting of trees and screening along route.
  8. Asda have Submitted a planning application for petrol station, should planning be approved it would be the County's first credit card only filling station with no shop or paying counter. So will they open the small road coming from the store as part of the conditions? also they should be asked to contribute towards helping the on going traffic problems, like paying to have the lights turned off!
  9. P142554/F Sorry I cannot get it to link to the Council site I also thought it should be a new topic
  10. Please do take the time to fill this in. I was unaware of this until today, whereas only 0.02% of the 56000 people in Hereford have filled it in. It's our county and what needs to be done. Don't complain if you don't fill it in. It even mentions a bypass!! https://www.snapsurveys.com/wh/s.asp?k=144620162827 Please tell everyone you know to complete it.
  11. Monday 12 January 2015 in Hereford Times News by Bill Tanner Are the lifts operating yet on the station. I was last told they would be working by the end of June 2014, but the scaffold bridge is still in place.
  12. Herefordshire Council have received a planning application to turn the Broadleys Pub into a Co-Operative store according to Tina Carey (Landlady) I think we have enough supermarkets, I would rather see this turned into a Toby Carvery rather than another shop personally. This is the message that Tina Carey put out on Facebook Last night.
  13. A government inspector has overruled Herefordshire Council and granted the appeal. A three-storey building can now be developed on the site of the former public toilets at The Oval. I think this is good news, I would rather a nice new building instead of looking at those terrible toilets!
  14. Interesting applications concerning Left Bank, Cyclelink and land to the east of Aylestone Hill. Not sure where you find the online comment form?
  15. Here is a notice which appeared in the Hereford Times this Thursday dated 30th January 2014. The only previous reference to this site are two comments made in response to The Core Strategy. Anyone know where the site referred to here is? Question 38. Is there anything else you would like to say about the Core Strategy? Comment 396 We object to the Council neglecting to include a housing site at Aylestone Hill in your list of sites favoured for development but we have dealt with that in much more detail elsewhere, via Barton Willmore. Response: The core strategy does not allocate sites Action Required: no changes required Organisation: Collins Design and Build Ltd Comment 411 "Our client’s land is located to the east of Aylestone Hill and adjoins the north eastern urban boundary to Hereford. In broad terms the site is located approximately 1km to the north of the town centre. A plan of the site is attached at Appendix 1.The site extends to approximately 6.5 ha. It comprises two agricultural grazing fields divided by a well kept, sporadic hedgerow. The eastern, southern and northern boundaries are formed by mature hedgerows interspersed with trees. To the west of the site are a mixture of semi detached and detached, two and single storey residential properties on Aylestone Hill. From the rear of these properties the site slopes gradually towards the valley floor and the River Lugg. An overhead power line, mounted on 8m high timber posts, crosses the middle of the site from east to west, although this does not preclude development. There are no other notable features on the site." Response: The core strategy does not allocate sites Action Required: no changes required Organisation: Barton Wilmore

  18. This looks as if the floodgates for housing are about to open. Letter from Sport England making good points about open space and playing fields - at least they are "on the ball". Lot more detail in letter of what they would expect from developer contributions.
  19. The outline application for this has been submitted - the numbers have been bumped to 'up to 120'. My comments about scrapping the Folly Lane traffic lights still stand, and I hope at least two of the Tupsley Ward councillors will pick up the idea and demand it as part of the planning gain.
  20. Proposed change of use from public house to 3 no. separate houses (domestic)
  21. Herefordshire Council have rejected an application for an Islamic Centre in Holme Lacy Road Hereford. Full details of this application here Original application form and Decision notice attached. AppForm.pdf Decision Notice 167100.pdf
