  1. Well said , no very well said , I wonder was Herr Merkel taking notes ?
  2. Yes Closing Walnut Tree Avenue to through traffic is fairly radical , will put even more traffic on Asda roundabout. They sneaked the second phase of Holme Lacy road traffic calming in here to , this was a planning condition on the Relief Road and was supposed to be delivered within 12 months of Relief Road opening -another example of Hereford Council / Balfour Beatty assuming they are above the law . Don't know what Belmont Road residents who park on side of road will do when the bus lane goes outside their fronts
  3. Last Sunday my Wife & I enjoyed a great day out at Sellack ( less than 10 miles from Hereford city centre ) the whole event as I saw it was generally a great success. With all aspects of country life showed & celebrated by many people, including many who I saw there who live in the city. I was appalled to see that the organisers are thinking of leaving this land at Caradoc which has of late become the home of HCF and relocating to the Bishops meadow ! To try and engage with City folk ! & also to make a joint celebration / memorial of the 1st World War. I see a fantastic event becoming a disaster that will antagonise and disrupt the South Wye area, not be able to provide the area of land needed for parking of visitors , competitors etc. If per chance it were to be wet what would all those vehicles, feet and the pounding of horses hooves do to the cricket square & football pitches ? Where would the shooting events be held ( need to be away from main arena area etc for noise reasons alone. I am sorry organisers but you surely must think again! The setting at Caradoc is superb, the size of the meadows area means it would be easy to enlarge the arena, create another smaller arena, enlarge car park and still remain within the confines of the grounds. I am not saying the current format is perfect, the catering stalls, burgers, pork rolls & general fast food were generally of a poor standard ( my pork roll was almost twice the price of the ones sold in High Town with half the meat in it & no crackling ) such a shame for a County that provides quality food for so many throughout the Nation. Such a shame when Hereford boasts some of the finest Indie restaraunts around, why couldn't we have had the choice of a Rule of Tum or Beefy boys burger, or a Shack Revolution pizza or indeed a baked potato or Pork roll as served in High Town ! Perhaps it may be an idea to invite the Hereford Indie Food guys to go on tour with a pre event taster tour next year ! Really organising committee , don't do it you will spoil a great event just work on what you have already got and here's looking forward to Caradoc 2017. Pete
  4. Hi Two wheels , you beat me to it ! I saw those this morning whilst out on a test drive . I really get annoyed that folks are able to take a trip out into the country to do this but can't make the council tip which is about 1 mile away ! Regards Pete
  5. Hi I for one will miss Graham as one of the few good guys in this administration. Graham has personally helped me in my business after I asked for his help, he swiftly and decisively intervened and helped. I wish him & his all the best, and don't wish to pry as to why. Regards Pete
  6. Bobby I applaud you sir , k and h I trust you consider how you can make more informed decisions than a jury who have given 2 years of their lives to bring the start of justice for the 96. I concur with Bobby that you must be on something to make such comments. The jury found that the Liverpool supporters were not to blame, end of. I look forward to joining my fellow kopites at Swansea on Sunday when I am sure a song will be sung in memory of the 96. Sorry , but hang your heads in shame. The jury has delivered , justice has been done. YNWA Pete
  7. Hi Yes it is a tenner a turn, but unlike other "attractions" that have come to Hereford over recent years, they are honest and up front at how many folks can expect from their 1/2 hour purchase, also how many others will be sharing at time, and how many slip slides you may expect to get in your purchased time slot. I hope that this is a success and that the Board and Skate park earn themselves a modest but much needed commission from this event, the work the volunteers have done there to provide kids with a venue for fun and activity should be applauded and commended. Whilst I shall not be partaking ( I have a prior commitment ) I wish them every success and I guess at £2.50 per slide ( if you manage the expected 4 goes ) it is not bad value. Pete
  8. Hi I also saw that article Colin, I was a bit concerned to see the Mayor pointed at an empty shop that if I am correct until recently either he or another city councillor ran a shop from it ! Of course my suspicion may be incorrect, but just saying......
  9. Hi Ragwert I hate to correct you as a very senior forum contributor, but surely she has so much plastic that she would melt prior to burning ! Regards Pete
  10. Hi I think that putting the hoarding boards up and promptly putting what look like official adverts on them is a good thing , there is less space for fly posters and I am guessing that the income from the "official advertising posters" would be quite considerable. So if someone at the council has thought about this and marketed the space, well done ! Regards Pete
  11. Hi I am bumping this so as to help a friend find it in order to help her contest a parking fine she recently received from parking eyes for overstaying her time at Hereford Aldi supermarket. The reason she was overtime, she was giving up her free time to help collect money for Hereford Samaritans ! As things stand her act of kindness is costing her a £40 fine ! I hope the info here helps. Regards Pete
  12. Hi Aylestone said If you want to see the carnage multiple user names etc. can cause have a look at HFC's forum Absolutely agree, what a fiasco Regards Pete
  13. Hi FairPlay Colin, I admire your stance and applaud you. Discipline on forums is important to retain the it's integrity. Regards Pete
  14. Hi With Landrover announcing the end of production of this Iconic vehicle, the demand and interest in them has soared. The fact that they are basically huge piles of mechano makes them also an attractive proposition for scum bags to steal and then break up and sell parts off on eBay etc. We currently have a truck in for repair that was stolen just south of Hereford and abandoned just a few miles away after causing a compound accident. The sad part is that the truck is its owners only means of transport, and sadly because of a few moments of some theiving lowlife may be written off by its insurers. Trackers, immobilisers and visible anti theft deterrents are currently all being well discussed by Landrover and other vehicle owners. Pete
  15. Hi I too add my condolences to the families concerned, I do not wish to enter a debate as to how or what happened, I will leave that to this emote qualified than me. A point has been made re the lighting etc on the GWW, whilst having no great knowledge of crime and crime prevention I hold the view that better lighting offers greater safety, however sitting on the steering committee for the cycle way from Eign Road to Rotherwas I as a parish council rep pleaded for good lighting along the length of the cycle way, possibly of solar type, this was to my dismay talked down by the council and police as it would attract and encourage youths to meet up and be a possible nuisance! I have to say I told the reps of the Police & Council that I had never heard such a load of rubbish. Again it possibly is as Glendale says , if the council don't think of it themselves then they won't do it Pete
  16. Hi I really get miffed when I hear that this road is the answer to the Enterprise Zone and all of the South of Herefords traffic problems! It is not and will not be. When I speak to business owners on Rotherwas they all want to do business with Birmingham area and the Thames Valley area Not Wales ! I rarely agree with Jim Kenyon but what Rotherwas , Lower Bullingham & my home village of Dinedor want is an Eastern Crossing that will allow a link to the Ledbury road & therefore the motorway system. Jesse Normans proposed Eastern Route would do this for a tad less than this proposal. Pete
  17. Hi Thanks Megilleland for pointing out my obvious mistake of mixing up east & west ! Yes Jesse Norman has written an excellent paper on the Eastern crossing , and contrary to the scaremongerers from Hfd Council this does not include crossing the lugg flats. It would cross the wye only once and would alleviate far more traffic congestion in Hereford than the preferred Western crossing. The Eastern crossing is also considered by many of the Enterprise Zone Board as completely desirable in order to maximise the growth of the Zone. The scandal is that the Eastern crossing is not even correctly considered in the Core strategy document - which is just one reason where the soundness of the policy could be called into doubt. Regards Pete
  18. Hi The A465 link road is the much heralded answer to all our local transport needs because it links the Rotherwas access road towards the precious belt of land in the east where the current local administration has its eyes set on and it's greedy little heart desiring a load of houses to pay for some of it. None of the business leaders I know of on Rotherwas think it will help them or indeed give the enterprise zone a boost, what would do this however is a western crossing linking with the Ledbury road initially and thus opening a new easier option to the midlands and the central / Thames areas where most businesses are doing business ! The whole western crossing idea is well presented by Jesse Norman in his excellent paper that I cannot find a link to at the moment ! But universally pooh poohed by anyone who has a bigotted local Tory inspired sense of tow the party line - spew out the dogma mentality. I guess when the core strategy gets called in for its lack of soundness and challenged through the courts, then local views will be heard and who knows by then we may have a change of local administration and common sense and value for money will prevail. Here's hoping Pete
  19. Hi I have not been in the new development, because I haven't needed to. I do agree with the look of the place, it's a shame to go down the road of looking like everywhere else. On the bit about street litter picking in OLM, I went to the very positive Hereford BID meeting at the very nice Cafe All Saints last week, and was pleasantly surprised and impressed with the plans for a Business Improvement District for Hereford. The litter picking and overall look of the place is something that this very positive thinking group will be able to have a direct impact on. As for the general look of Hereford, is there a more untidy and disgusting entrance in Hereford than that of the bus pull in at Tesco's? The once relatively smart brick paviors have sunk into an unknown abyss only to be topped of with a Tarmac Splodge that is rapidly following the bricks into oblivion. The central roundabout of the City and it looks like somewhere in the third world. Regards Pete
  20. Hi Colin I drove an Iveco 7 tonne LCV through the other day no problem . Yes Joseph's are the sub contractors that are working for Balfour Beatty, they are local and employ local men. Regards Pete
  21. Hi The van in the photo is so far over to the left i.e over the kerb that there is enough room on its right to park a smart car there comfortably ! Again another case of extremely poor driving at road junctions in Hereford. The new junction completely does away with the previous blind spot and gives the motorist travelling from the cathedral end of King street a perfect view of both Bridge street and king street towards St Nicholas. I have gone through this junction in a large LCV this week and managed to traverse the curve without a wheel of the tarmac. I realise that it is not very fashionable or trendy to praise the powers that be on forums , but I have to say that this has to be a great improvement and applaud the fact also that Balfour Beatty have used a local subcontractor to carry out the work. Well done to all concerned. Pete
  22. Hi Had a tweet back from Graham Powell, our exchange Holme Lacy is due for upgrade later this year, fastershire however won't commit to that. It is also very poor as has been previously mentioned that Rotherwas has little better than dial up internet connections unless, as some companies I am aware of invest massive sums in their own satellite systems. I was trying to watch a you tube training video for work earlier, I had to give up as the buffering and constant stopping was making sensible and coherent watching impossible. Trying to run a small business with this standard of internet connection is almost becoming impossible. Pete
  23. Hi All Be gentle with me I am new ! I have responded to Graham Powell via Twitter, how come Rotherwas is a remote area ? Pitiful speeds little better than dial up , and it's Herefordshires premier business area ! My home in Dinedor, just over the hill from Rotherwas and with a great view of the city, has a BT speed of less than 1 Mb, using Allpay and with favourable weather I can get 5Mb, however this is as Allpay quaintly term it "contentious" thus the more customers they get the poorer my signal gets ! I also pointed out to Councillor Powell that at the launch of Fastershire we were promised a 97% coverage of Herefordshire within the already agreed Goverment / Hfd Council funding ! I have asked the question , where has the money gone ? Regards to all from the remote outback of Dinedor Pete
