  1. I recon lpusseycat may well be right, it will be chaos. With Christmas shopping, weekend shopping, rush hour traffic be prepared for a jolly good traffic jam. Thank you Hereford Council. More congestion, more traffic fumes and pollution. Abergavenny will be the place to go shopping, or Monmouth.

  2. I am sorry for the spelling error which seems more important than the issue at hand.Anyone who has been at the Newtown roundabout at 5pm will know what it is like from a traffic point of view and to have a one way system through the xmas period will no doubt make a huge impact on traffic. On a saturday during a normal week is bad enough we will see congestion on a large scale when this starts.

I am afraid lpusseycat, is right it will be double double chaos.

  3. In the minutes of Belmont Rural Parish Council for 8 September 2016 item137/16, Belmont Community Centre are to get salt bin, very diserving as it can be dangerous to elderly going to library or to Tesco.

I have also noted that at the bottom of 137/16, the Parish Council are going to consider other places.  I recon if you want a salt bin now the chance to make a request, and if you are in a hilly area of Belmont in get first.

    Remember they have over £114k

  4. Tracy,

I whole heartedly agree with you, but very little will be done because if you are the only one that attends as an non parish councillor, and no other members of  the public attending, to voice there opinion, then nothing will be done, because the parish councillor's don't know what the residents want or demand

I feel, and say you all, want it done, then attend the parish council meetings, and demand it done.

That will wake up the parish council.

  5. We will see what happens 2017 to the library at Belmont Community Centre. With the library in Hereford being re organised to do other things as well as lending books, and the Council wanting to save millions in one hand and wasting millions with the other hand. The future in Hereford looks bleak.

  6. I found this article very interesting also I have had a little chuckle.

None of you have considered the computerised self drive car, eg Google’s self drive, just tell the car, just tell it where you want to go, and with luck it might get you there. That would give OAP independence.

  7. Colin advertises both SWCA and Northolme centres but I see only Northolme returning the favour, that said, there is nothing stopping them creating topics about up and coming events on HV. I think Northolme may have posted about their open days but I have never seen anyone from SWCA, they need to get more support and HV and a huge audience these days, here on Twitter and a huge following on their FaceBook page and is growing.

There no community weekly entertainment. It nearly all hire of halls for private functions. No entertainment offered to the general public.I am sorry to say that this is how I feel.

  8. I see Ex. Councillors. V-Powell has been badly criticised, but I feel that she may have spoken some truth. I don't support her but I recon she keeps up to date from her old Councillors coligues.

Libraries are asking for second hand books. I bought an ex library book which is in fabulous condition for .50th from local charity shop. I believe that libraries should not sell off books,

but put them into storage. I also suspect that libraries do waist money.

Only time will tell if G.V-POWELL WAS RIGHT or the or SWCC Committee.

I also would like to know what does SWCC do for the residents of Belmont as a community centre. To me it's like Northolme Community Centre a hall for hire.

The question I ask can we live without it, I certainly, and my whole family can.

  9. I recon it will close. I have lived in Belmont now for 20 odd years, and have never been there. I don't know any of my friends that actually use the library. In days of old when computers were expensive, libraries were useful. But now with most people with computers all the information is there in seconds, at your fingertips.

With your hands on your heart, when did you last use the library? Ah! you may have gone in to get some green bags.

I think this is where Hereford Council could save some money and close the library.

If I want a book I buy them from a charity shop, and when I finish with the book I give it back to the charity shop.

  10. I've already posted comparison between Hereford traffic and that of a horse and cart from the 1800's. Here's a bit more to cement the fact that, despite being preached to by the council that they are forward thinking, Hereford is stuck in the 1800's

The OLM a big new build. Now I assumed that the the slanted roofing was an architectural decision to base it on the look of the old market cattle shelters. Which makes sense.

    attachicon.gifESG1.jpg

    _51814818_cattlembbc.jpg

The only trouble is, that this is a "design" from the 1800's.

This design is known as a "Saw Tooth Roof", attributed to architect William Fairbairn as early as 1827. It's primary concept was to allow day light into the large factories. Now I'm just guessing here, but I see no windows in the roof and imagine the interior will be floored and lit accordingly. Funnily enough, Fairbairn dubbed this the "shed principle" :P

One of the drawbacks of this design of roof is that "crap" and debris collect in the troughs leading to drainage issues if not cleared. I mean, I'm sure they thought of all of this, they are highly paid architects after all, not idiots, and know a great deal more about building design than I ever will. I'm just pointing out that this is another example of Hereford stuck in the 1800's.

And wouldn't it make SO much sense to put solar panels on these sloped roofs.

    Also found this;

    myudwyqnjv3tg6hcd6og_thumb.png

I would, however, like to add that the construction company aren't really at fault in any of this, they've done a cracking job and make huge amounts of progress in the time that they have been working. So well done to the guys on the ground.

So there you have it, we have potholed roads from the 1600's, traffic that moves slower than a horse and cart in 1700's and buildings that look like they have been poached straight out of the 1800's.

The real question by the time it is compleated with the new road down to 2 single lanes and a pedestrian crossing from 2 duel carrage ways. I can see horrendous traffic jams and peeps will go else where. I think Hereford is dieing slowly.

We need council officials with some brains.

  11. I was informed today that a by-election was called in the Belmont ward for the vacancy on the city council ten signatures have been handed into the town clerk which starts the process it's our county have at the moment two candidates wanting to stand so we will have a selection process the candidate selected will then be put up as our candidate my group did not call this election however we do have good people in many wards that are prepared to stand up and fight for our county.

I only hope that its Our County Gets in so my friends lets vote for OUR COUNTY and save Hereford from the idiots that run it.

Good luck Our County  :Thumbs-Up::Happy_32:  Independents no walk over for Bridges :Thumbs-Down::Surprised_32:  :Happy_32:

  12. Both your friend and Alex are correct IGNORE IT for now and certainly Don't pay it! As it is not a ticket! It is merely a 'Speculative Invoice' there are loads of forum discussions about these scams.

You have not committed any offense and you’ve been ticketed by a private company whose tickets have no status unless a case is brought at the expense of the issuer in a civil court. Under no circumstances get involved in any so-called "appeals procedure".

The "charge" is alleged under contract law. Despite what they may call it, what you have is an "invoice" (a decidedly dodgy one at that) from a private parking company who allege you have breached their terms and conditions by failing to park in accordance with their rules. The ticket is not backed up by statute, unlike those issued by councils and police.

The “ticket†is virtually unenforceable and the truth is that the Parking Company will probably not even try to enforce it by legal action. Instead they will use debt collectors who will threaten references to credit agencies, personal visits by bailiffs and removal of property. These threats have no foundation. The reality is they would need to bring civil litigation in the county court against the driver and prove a breach of prominently displayed terms and conditions. They will go to the DVLA to identify the registered keeper of the vehicle but you have no responsibility to tell them who was driving (even if it was you) and enforcement can only take place against the driver. These cases are largely dealt with by threats and bluster rather than any real action on the basis that most people pay up to avoid hassle. Completely IGNORE them, you may get a few threats but they will eventually go away. What you have is a "Speculative Invoice" look it up.

Don’t be a mug – stand firm don’t be bullied. Check Out This Site

How would you like someone parking on your drive. I also see there is a notice re parking. I hope they are taken to court, or bring the bailiffs in.

  13. Why didn't Cllr Phil Edwards listen to you Glenda and the residents. All the residents i've spoke to agree it is in the wrong place it should be up Haywood Lane. Also is it being locked at night to stop trouble as asked for by the planning officer. He won't be getting my vote and none of the residents around here will not vote for him either as he went against what we all wanted.

Lpusseycat I think he thinks himself as God, and knows what is best for us all.

  14. Cllr Edwards doesn't listen to anyone, he has always thought he knows best for everyone, unfortunately Cllr Bridges agree's with everything Cllr Edwards wants, they work together on everything. Because I do not agree with them, they ignore what I say or do.

I have and always will be 100% behind my constituents, listening to what you all say, and what you want. I am sorry to have to say this, but the only way they both will realise their mistake is if no one votes for them in 2015.

I must say that I agree with Cllr Powell. It is every man and woman’s duty to vote out Cllr Edwards and Cllr Bridges who works full time and does not appear to do the work for the constituents. Yes he wrote an article in the paper about Amey but what has he done about the supervision of Amey nothing.

Cllr Powell is very active and helps her constituents she works relentlessly helping the people of Newton Farm, Belmont and Hunderton, but what have the dynamic duo done for Hunderton and Newton Farm?

We must all do our best to support Cllr Powell who lives in Newton Farm and very close to Hunderton and knows the problems that occur. I ask what does the dynamic duo know about Newton Farm or Hunderton?

  15. I have to agree with the two Cllrs for Hinton & St.Martins ward who wrote in the HT this week against Asda filling station. In 2003 when the Asda application came before the Central Planning Committee the area they want to put the filling station on was for housing, the traffic lights installation was a part of the planning application at that time therefore it is doubtful that a condition in the present application will be to remove or perminantly turn the lights off! The traffic congestion at this point as everyone agrees is unacceptable to the people coming from the South of the city. A filling station at Asda will only make the matter worse!

The question is ASDA will appeal the council have no money to fight it so it will be granted. The same happened at Sainsburys.

  16. I met up with planning dept/ Park & countryside officer and representative of Amey on site this afternoon.

I am aware that both yourself and Mrs Lynch has spoken to the planning officer, also that there is a petition objecting to the car park doing the rounds, it has been noted on the petition that various names have been entered for the same address on two occasions where it is known that only two people live at the said address. The land belongs to Herefordshire Council therefore the planning application is theirs. The planning application WILL go to the planning committee this month where it will be debated and voted on by the councillors on that committee after hearing ALL evidence for and against the application.

I have voiced my concerns in relation to the antisocial behaviour that happens at the Ball Court and the siting of the car park near by, I have asked that if the planning application is successful that the area of the car park is fenced off and locked at night.

I bet the application is granted, because you know who wants it.

  17. Attached here is the council's recommendation that the car park be approved at its planning meeting on the 22nd February 2012. All the reasons why it should not be built have been ignored and the affected residents will have to put up with more anti-social behaviour closer to their homes. The council officers list a variety of reasons why each objection submitted is not relevant. Read it and see if you agree.

I agree with you, watch out for the antisocial behaviour
