  1. Frank/Bill what they portray to the electorate and what they are like in the council chamber is very  different. It doesn't bother me that I got a red minus for my comments. I am free now from any constraints as  when I was a councillor to tell things as they really are, and I am known for my honesty and speaking my mind.

Maybe that was your downfall... I see both independents and its our county more or less on the same hymn sheet so curious now, can you qualify your statement Glenda? Just so that you are aware, I voted for you Glenda.

  2. Hi all,

I am with the Herefordshire Liberal Democrats and I have had this topic brought to my attention so I will state the following:

    A) This Stakeboard (like all our Stakeboards) is on Private Property.

    B) We have consent for this Stakeboard to be there (again, like all our Stakeboards).

    C) We are happy to move it, and will be doing so, before the morning of the 7th when it becomes a Polling station.

I hope this clears up this up for you.

    David.

Welcome to HV David and thank you for clarifying things, personally I share the view and think its unfair but hey ho, we will wait for all the other candidates to rush there now with all of their stateboards.   :Thumbs-Down:

  3. Thank you for all of this information, they don't make it easy though do they, the emfasis appears to be weighted towards being refused, Hereford is stuck in the middle ages with miserable old buggers running the show unfortunately.

I cannot say that I disagree with you, the sooner this council is removed the better, we need fresh ideas from younger people, its no wonder the city is dying.

  4. He is obviously miffed at all this mickey taking and I would imagine does not like being called a liar, but hey! I do not believe for one minute he has never told lies and from my understanding he offered sweeteners and failed to deliver, so sorry councillor, you just have to take the flack on the chin and I completely agree with bobby47's comments. He will be an even bigger pantomime fool if there is any truth to this legal action crap, get a life man!

  5. You might reconsider your opening line if you had a severe ankle sprain with a complete rupture of the ligament with instability of the joint like I have, still, that should be irrelevant. If someone wants a taxi, regardless of the distance of paying passenger, this should not be an issue, it's a lottery.

    Absolutely.

  6. Re: Your last sentence Colin I know this is correct ...

Regarding the store name it is obviously derived from a long standing chain in Poland.

Å»abka (convenience store) ~ link from Wiki

Even down to copying the frog logo which is the English translation of Zabka (small frog)

I suppose in the event of a dispute about trademarks and stuff then that is an argument that someone else can have but I can quite see how 99% of passing trade, who probably don't use the shop, would consider it to be Polish ...

If the store appear to be able to massage the truth about the origins of the shop and/or ownership then how transparent are they going to be about anything else? Is it good enough just to throw a few staple Polish tins of food on the shelves plus some Polish beer? And stick a frog on the front?

First thing I would check is this Mr. Salh's recent history in running an off licence in this Country. Has he got a recent track record in this area? Anywhere in England/Wales. Or has he been parachuted in?

I don't know where the revenue from these dodgy dealings goes to but there is every chance it is laundered back to Iraq. Either with consent or by some sort of racket going on that the owner has no control over. Islamic State has the potential to creep all over the place with it's tentacles and hidden agenda's ...

This is spot on! They have in my opinion STOLEN the brand of a large well known Polish shop as Roger has pointed out Zabka and now more recently they have opened another new shop directly opposite (Jennings old shop) and STOLEN yet another well know chain branding from Poland called Biedronka, after receiving several complains they changed the logo to something slightly different, it is now a bee, but they still however use the Biedronka ladybird logo on their Facebook page.

How can they just steal another companies name and logo and nobody does anything about it? Surely this is trade misdicription at the very least!

The staff have no contracts and are paid below the minimum wage and usually in cash.
  7. A super idea and I cannot see why it it could not be implimented. Most of the old track is still there from just past the theatre, just be a case of removing it and laying new tracks for a tram, they would also need to install the electrics but it would be eco friendly, ideal for all, disabled people would have easy access with buggies too, I have seen that working well in Holland. I think its a brilliant idea and would take a lot of pressure from the main roads at the same time.

  8. No, they're not bullies per se. Neither is smartieno1, on the evidence of what he posts up here.

But smartieno1's posts flushed out almost precisely the same characters, with similar ill-informed, out of proportion comments, on a previous post I remember; hence the reference to a posse.

Well opinions I guess, its just when it becomes personal its wrong. I think your suggestions that all the member who commented are ill informed is unfair though. We will never all agree or the world would be a boring place.

  9. Not good to see anybody being ganged up on by a posse who appear strangely oblivious to very real council bullying. All very unsavoury. Yes, it was a good call to remove it.

I need to clarify something else here, if a member says something or creates a topic that nobody agree's with, then are those members who disagree then in a gang/posse and in turn bullies?

  10. Personally, I am still surprised to see coppers on the beat alone and often attending a crime alone and all they have in the way of any protection is a poxy tazer gun, sorry but I think we should fall inline like many other European countries and all offers should be armed, especially with the recent events in Paris becoming more frequent and these other nutters like the two that attacked and killed Lee Rigby.

  11. I think this list just goes to show we have way too many shops in Hereford and a lot of them could be put to better use, flats, etc.

The building in picture 15 is  internally unsafe so will not be used as a shop anytime soon.

How can there be too many shops? It's the city centre, the last thing we want to do is turn them into flats, we have residential area's for that. As soon as you start turning these shops into flats you then create other problems, someone want to open a club/pub then you have objections etc.. The answer is to invest in these units and the surroundings, Hereford City centre is in much need of some serious TLC and has been neglected for far too long.

  12. Last time I had a pint here was a couple of weeks ago just after the new year and before that was at the beginning of December with my friend. I notice on local social media sites that there are a few campaigners with their boots on already demanding that this be kept as a pub but I bet have of them have either never stepped through the door of the Broadleys or have not been here for years. Unless the brewery invest in the pub and modernise it or turn in into a restaurant then it will doomed and either end up as another express supermarket, which we don't need or just boarded up like the Ship Inn, personally given the choice I would rather see something there.
