Bill Wiggins v Hereford Times

What gets me, is how he can say he is representing the good people of Herefordshire North who voted for him, when he seems to do less work in Parliament, and more privately. Why does he need more money? His house in London is up for sale @ circa £3,000,000. No mortgage on his Herefordshire home, even though he "thought" there was, and claimed. I really do not understand the greed.

Hmm tricky one that Denise, I'm not in support of this but IMO a landlord does not concern me as a job. In my many years as a tenant, I've had many landlords only ever met one! Anything that needed doing was reported either directly to landlord or associate. The work was then carried out by a tradesman. And that is how a friend of mine also operates his properties. His job is a onsite carpenter. Tenants pay rent to him and leaves them too it. An MP on the other hand isn't that a full time job? And a MD also a full time job? That's atleast 16hrs a day in my calculations.....

I'm not going to defend Bill Wiggin, as he seems to have his fingers' in several lucrative pies, but have we any evidence of any disgruntled constituent who has not had a concern dealt with, to their satisfaction, that they'd raised with him because he had taken his eye off the ball?

I don't have a problem with second jobs per se, after all, MPs get very long holidays, and maybe he can squeeze in his time for Emerging Asset or whatever they're called, in the recess. It's the conflict of interest here which is an issue. I'm sure he has had many representations from constituents about the closure of libraries for instance - perhaps there would be money for these things if hedge funds weren't stashing the tax revenues the UK should be receiving off-shore. I don't live in his constituency, but my parents do, and so do friends. Whenever they have contacted him (and he doesn't always reply, neither does Norman) he has responded by attaching  a government statement on whatever the topic is, and that's it, end of story. Hardly a hard working constituency MP in my view. More relevant might be to ask, do we know of any constituent who has contacted him over an issue, and had a helpful response or positive outcome? Not including anybody from the farming industry obviously.

It's just like the expensive scandal it might not be against the rules but it is morally wrong & a conflict of interest.....& yes they do get a lot of time off but they'd be better served doing vocational work within the community who they represent in my opinion.

Yes the Council seem keen that we become community litter pickers perhaps Bill could head one of these up in his spare time #

Not including anybody from the farming industry obviously. why not Osmosis?

Because Wiggin already more or less confines himself to representing the interests of the NFU. If you look at his record in parliament, these are the topics he raises. As farmers already get a very good deal from the taxpayer, I think they may feel that they have been well represented by Wiggin.

Everyone wants volunteers to do stuff for free ... Even Theresa May (Home Secretary)

Civilian recruits will help police solve cybercrime under an expansion of the role of volunteers in England and Wales, the home secretary has said.

The plans include measures to give more power to support staff and volunteers.

Forces will be able to identify volunteers who specialise in accountancy or computing for cyber and finance inquiries, Theresa May said.

BBC

I'm not sure what Planet she's on but skilled computer workers (not typists) can get £300 a day doing Consultancy work. I've got a friend who does it. There's a shortage in that sector as well. So people ain't going to do it for free unless they got some philanthropic tendency or more money than sense ...

Having previously lived in a Wiggins village I can easily endorse the comment made by Osmosis. The NFU and farmers in North Herefordshire love this guy...he ticks all their boxes, a posh bloke that loves tweed and avoids the city like the plague. Some while ago I followed his parliamentary questions..Well when there were any. These two Tory boys carry the same flag but as individuals are very different.
