ragwert Posted December 14, 2015 Report Share Posted December 14, 2015 OK.This is what I found out.My contact has heard nothing about the land being sold.Council has handed over Widemarsh Common to the Football side of Lads Club on a 25 year lease for £1 a year.Part of the deal was that the road and boundary fence were repaired prior to the lease being taken on and that all future repairsmust be done by the lads club. Council has handed over Widemarsh Common to the Football side of Lads Club on a 25 year lease for £1 a year. Part of the deal was that the road and boundary fence were repaired prior to the lease being taken on and that all future repairs must be done by the lads club. What is the 'net' gain for The Council over 25 years if they lease the land for £25 .... ? Seems the Lads Club may have got a bargain there by your information .... Given that Historic England list this site on the 'Heritage at risk' register, stating that its condition is 'Very bad', its vulnerability 'High' and its trend 'Deteriorating', it would seem the Council duck out of the responsibility for rectifying this for the next 25 years. The English martyr hanged at the age of 80 St John Kemble (August 22), a much-loved Catholic priest whose execution was horribly botched John Kemble, alias Holland, was born at Rhydicar Farm, St Weonard’s, Herefordshire in 1599.
