    Apologies for my recent absence

Hi guy's Just to give you the heads up. You may have noticed a reduced amount of new topics from me recently. I was on holiday from the 9th - 16th, we were back for just a day before I was admitted to hospital for over a week. After various scans etc they found a rather large gallstone 15-16mm. I was in severe pain and had a bad infection with a lot of abdominal swelling. The good news is that I am now recovering at home waiting for my operation scheduled for week commencing the 15th to remove my gallbladder. I am feeling a lot better than I was a week or so ago, so you will see more activity on the forum because as you can imagine I am getting bored.

    Weeds verging on the ridiculous

Can no one at Balfour Beatty and our councillors see the state of our urban roads in the city which are now getting out of hand. When the use of a garden hoe along the kerb would have removed most weeds we are now in a position that the weeds are so established that the only way to treat them would be with herbicides which in turn cause pollution. So the only answer appears to be is do nothing and our streets on our estates take on the appearance of an outback town - the only thing missing is tumbleweed. Together with the inability to get on top of the litter and fly tipping problems and blocked drains around the area it is apparent that the majority of citizens and those elected to represent us have no pride in our environment - a sad state of affairs. The picture of Glastonbury Festival and the accompanying litter say so much about the state of our country and mindset of those responsible. In Australia they appear to have come up with a safe, pesticide-free method of keeping their streets clean and tidy. And ironically this method is used by Glastonbury Town Council to keep their town clean and weed free. Belmont Road Hereford:

  12. I have been a member here for a long time and I think it only right that we give credit where credit is due. As a collective HV and the members here have achieved many good things over the years and I think we should start to list them in recognition of all the hard work put it. Please forgive me because I can only think of a few that stand out, notably the hot food campaign and the cctv on the gww. Then there was the grass cutting petition and the working boys home and off course the keep clear road making on the Belmont roundabout. Lets all start listing these results. Reverse grass cutting petition New metal fencing on the Belmont Iron bridge (preventing kids climbing) New duck signs installed following request along Haywood Lane near to Belmont Pools. Open space at bottom of Glastonbury Close cleared and tree's cut back and 2 reduced to stumps preventing kids climbing over metal fencing near McDonalds Successfully campaigned for CCTV along the GWW. Campaigned successfully to reverse previous decisions to prevent late night food curfew - many food outlets are now open until 3am and even later on bank holidays. Working boys home Keep Clear road markings Highlighted and managed to have the garages at Redhill repaired (GWW) Cleaned the GWW with many other residents, Cllrs and Police. Salt Bins For Sydwall Road and Glastonbury Close New lightbulbs and repairs to Greyfriars Subway. Clean up of Hereford Duck Pond with many volunteers and managed to obtain 3 new information signs kindly sponsored by Vets4Pets. Repainted fence with funds from Hereford City Council and secured up £5000 for aeration pumps/fountain.

  19. I attended the BRPC Meeting last night at the Northolme Community Centre. During the public participation I asked if we could have at least 3 salt/grit bins for Glastonbury Close. One to be situated at the top of the close near Sydwall Road, another at the bottom of Glastonbury Close situated in the turning point on the final bend and the 3rd positioned near to the open space at the very end. Last Winter I drove to Tesco and collected grit on a few occasions and gritted the whole of the close from top to bottom as it is like an ice rink when the temperatures fall below zero. Over the years I have seen the bin lorry struggle and slide like you would not believe as well as vans and cars. I remember seeing some yellow bins some years back but they have since disappeared. I will also write to the clerk to request a few additional bins in and around Belmont too.

WARNING TO WEST MERCIA CONSTABULARY I'm going to post on here (as it has more clout) if I do not get an answer to my email from Southside Cops. Needless to say my 'stop' left me feeling very uneasy, and I was guilt free! I will await a response from Southsides finest before I take this any further.

    Hereford council survey

Please do take the time to fill this in. I was unaware of this until today, whereas only 0.02% of the 56000 people in Hereford have filled it in. It's our county and what needs to be done. Don't complain if you don't fill it in. It even mentions a bypass!! https://www.snapsurveys.com/wh/s.asp?k=144620162827 Please tell everyone you know to complete it.

    Fred "Ike" Morris

No doubt many of you know of him, with many a story to share. Known by many for trading as City Spares 'scrapyard' down Watery Lane. It has came to my attention tonight, that he has passed away. No further information at present. Sympathy with his family and friends at this tough time.
